Recurring severe haze in Southeast Asia highlights the critical role of Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E).

Breastmilk acts as a self-sustaining, zero-logistics shield during environmental crises—protecting infant immunity without reliance on fragile supply chains or clean water infrastructure.

Beyond immediate indoor protection, families can drive systemic change by supporting independent, zero-deforestation standards to stop transboundary haze at its source.

August was Breastfeeding Month… but what happens now that it’s October? 🤔

Why do over 80% of mothers start out wanting to breastfeed, only to face massive structural hurdles? It’s not an individual failure...it’s a system failure.

Join us for Day 1 of our 7-day mini-series as we kick off the countdown to the first Southeast Asia Breastfeeding Conference (SEABC) in Bangkok this November 26–28! 📍🇹🇭

We are with you @ginaalliance 🤱🏻Get @reshare_app • @ginaalliance A statement from GINA:

We at GINA are always looking to spread the word on our unique way of working. Remote and on the ground breastfeeding support; the circle of love we surround families with.

One way we do this is by speaking at conferences. We were therefore disappointed to be informed that we can no longer present at a major breastfeeding conference.

It is important that we reflect the lived reality of the families we support. Our words used were considered “non neutral” by the organisers. this is despite MSF, UN, Amnesty and other international organisations affirming the language and words that appeared in our presentation.

However, when one door closes another one opens, so we are delighted to share that we have been invited to speak at the Lactation Consultants of Great Britain Conference and The International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN) Southeast Asia Regional Conference.

LCGB and IBFAN focus their advocacy and policy agenda on protecting infant health, promoting breastfeeding, and regulating breastmilk substitutes. We are looking forward to sharing with them how we at GINA support mothers and babies within Palestine. Links to both these events can be found in our bio.

The GINA family is all about positive change and collective power for good, naming the organisation that cancelled our presentation will not be helpful and might lead to negative arguments on social media and shaming of them. We’d rather celebrate the positive support and move on.

Let’s focus on what matters most: supporting mothers and ensuring babies get a better start in life, regardless of where they live and what their background is.

If you would like GINA to speak at a conference or other, events, please get in touch at: events@gina.org.uk by @ibfansea
