Its October! Final lap of ‘26!🤲🏾📿
September was wild 😅 Time really flies!

A few 📸 from #Berlin 🇩🇪 surreal reconnecting w/ old friends & colleagues, some I worked alongside on resolutions & published reports that are somehow already 10 years old!! crazy 🫢

Both amazing to see so many of us still fighting the good fight💪🏾 & Lowkey frustrating that we still need to…. But maybe it’s more necessary now more than ever before that we are.

Honored to celebrate 25 years of the #Frient Peacebuilding Forum & working together with incredible people on architecting what MUST come next.

In 2025, when @elmanpeace Centre added breakfast and lunch to the school day at their primary school in Mogadishu, the reasoning was simple: children too hungry to concentrate couldn’t learn. The effects went further than that.

Most children at the school come from the Elman Peace orphanage or from families displaced more than once. For them, the meals also meant a routine they could count on. Teachers noticed the children arriving earlier. The rooms were calmer. Lessons ran with fewer interruptions.

Elman Peace Centre is now working to make the project sustainable, building relationships with local suppliers and Somali businesses so no single funding cycle decides whether a child eats.

“I believe creating and protecting that kind of ordinary consistency for children is some of the most important work we are doing today in Somalia,” says @ilwadelman, Aurora Prize Laureate and Chief Operating Officer of Elman Peace Centre.

The delegation met youth graduating from phase 1 of our current joint program w/ #KOICA & #UNDP 🇸🇴

After a week of deep immersion into the Hope TVET College in #AddisAbaba before formalizing the new @elmanpeace @undpsom @lg_global & @officialkoica I’m finally back home in #Mogadishu 🇸🇴 ❤️☺️☺️

Still so inspired & charged up from the exciting next steps we have ahead 🙏🏾

The willingness to share knowledge openly, abandoning competition or institutional silos in exchange for building together across borders was truly the highlight for me ✨

And this is exactly the kind of collaborations the future & #Africa ‘s youth demand. public-private partnerships, long-term investment, practical opportunity, regional learning, and the belief that when young people thrive in #Africa we all WIN together.
