Very happy to participate in this group show which opens @helleniccentre tomorrow and also coincides with this year’s London Gallery Weekend. Beautifully curated by @theodoris__ 🌟 In Transit: Greek Artists Abroad 5 – 26 Jun 2026 Private View: Wednesday 3 June, 18:00 – 20:00 Hellenic Centre, 16-18 Paddington Street, London W1U 5AS Join us for the private view of ‘In Transit: Greek Artists Abroad.’ In Transit is a sculptural dialogue shaped by the lived reality of standing between places and identities. Bringing together Greek artists who have worked abroad, the exhibition reflects our shared in-between state—where memory, displacement, humour, and adaptation collide—revealing how constant movement reshapes who we are and how we belong. Each work emerges from the friction of distance: between homeland and host country, memory and present time, certainty and reinvention. From the S.T. Art Collection Irini Bachlitzanaki @irini_b Untitled, 2016, Wood, aluminium tape and thread 62.5 x 16.0 cm Irini Bachlitzanaki’s solo show “Emergent Qualities” at Elika Gallery interrogated the boundaries between art, craft, and industrial design through hybrid objects that oscillated between familiarity and ambiguity. Replicas of porcelain cable insulators—adorned with Skyrian folk motifs or stacked into totemic forms—shared space with wooden re-creations of Dexion shelving and plaster casts echoing traditional woodcarving, each piece destabilizing its original function while retaining traces of material history. The works thrived on paradox: industrially sourced yet hand-manipulated, decorative yet purposeless, autonomous yet relational. By embedding folk traditions within contemporary seriality, Bachlitzanaki provoked questions about authenticity, value, and the silent tension between poetic form and theatrical presence, inviting viewers to navigate an installation where every object was both artifact and actor in a staged dialogue of cultural memory. The work was acquired through “Surprise” a solidarity art sale curated by Alexandra Kollaros @alexandrakollaros and organized by ArtAZ @artazgallery to raise funds for the homeless people of Athens. Irini Bachlitzanaki’s Fireworks - for once in season for Bonfire Night ✨ Swoosh (Fireworks out of Season), 2023 digital embroidery on felt in painted tray frame 60 x 48 x 3.5 cm. and Crackle (Fireworks out of Season), 2024 digital embroidery on felt in beech tray frame 36.8 x 24.5 x 3.5 cm. [detail] These pieces form part of an ongoing series of digitally embroidered works based on illustrations of Japanese fireworks dating from the 1800’s. Taken from catalogues advertising the wares of the Hirayama and Yokoi fireworks manufacturers, these illustrations were recently digitised and made available online by the Yokohama City Library. The works flirt with pictorial representation, the language of technical drawings and prototypes and a poetic underarstanding of fireworks as diagrams in the sky. The stitch and technique used were chosen to draw attention to the texture of the work, the material and its three-dimensional nature. The stitch resembles wicker baskets, stars, but also pixels. It feels particularly fitting for fireworks, where we see an image emerging from the combination of small “dots”, but also appropriate for highlighting the way that digital embroidery, despite being mechanical, requires a very hands-on approach making it more akin to hand embroidery or painting rather than other digital printing and manufacturing processes. @irini_b ‘ s ‘Swoosh’ is currently on view in the gallery office ✨ 〜 #irinibachlitzanaki #bonfirenight #fireworks #diagramsinthesky #dots #contemporaryart #ioneandmann by @irini_b

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘢𝘵 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘦’𝘴 opens this Saturday 26.10 and I’m delighted to be part of it! Posted @withregram • @theresidencycommunity ✨ In anticipation of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘢𝘵 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘦’𝘴 opening this Saturday, we are excited to highlight another exhibiting artist @irini_b ✨ Irini Bachlitzanaki (b. 1984) was born in Athens, Greece and currently lives and works in London. Inspired by material culture, artisanal traditions, nature and the biographies of objects, Bachlitzanaki builds upon re-contextualising recognisable forms to examine our relationship with the world around us and ourselves. She plays with two and three-dimensionality and explores the object as image, signifier and continuation of the body and the self. Bachlitzanaki studied History of Art at @ucl and Fine Art at @unioftheartslondon Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts and most recently the @royalacademyschools in London. Solo exhibitions include ‘Just us on a Different Day’ and ‘Emergent Qualities’ at Elika Gallery, Athens; ‘The Combination Show’ at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge and the recent ‘The Consolation of Imaginary Things’ at Ione & Mann, London, 2024. Her work has also been displayed in several group exhibitions in Athens, London and elsewhere, in galleries, museums and independent art spaces. Recently awarded Scholarships and Grants include the Arts Council England DYCP grant 2022 and the RA Schools Dunoyer de Segonzac Prize 2021, among others. As an extension of her artistic practice Bachlitzanaki has curated a number of exhibitions and is interested in occasionally pursuing curatorial work in line with her artistic research. This week’s #Spotlight is artist Irini Bachlitzanaki (@irini_b), whose solo exhibition at @londongalleryweekend, ‘The Consolation of Imaginary Things,’ at @ioneandmann playfully reimagined everyday objects. Bachlitzanaki used painted MDF, tinted plaster polymers, and digital embroideries, transforming familiar items—a cat, a water jug, a notebook—into flat, almost cartoonish sculptures that blur the lines between the domestic and the theatrical. Her work explores material culture – how we interact with everyday objects, and reassembling them into something both new and comfortingly familiar. Bachlitzanaki continues her exploration of community and collaboration in upcoming exhibitions at @christiesinc London and in Athens. Bachlitzanaki is Championed by author, consultant and her patron for @theresidencycommunity Programme @christinavmakris. Read the full Spotlight feature on thewickculture.com. The Residency by @cura_art_ is a platform focused on supporting and sponsoring underrepresented artists, centered around time away from their usual routines at various inspiring spaces. by @irini_b

In free fall for another day. Catch them @ioneandmann for another couple of hours today or tomorrow. The Consolation of Imaginary Things (is not imaginary consolation) comes to a close on Sunday 21/7 ‘The Righting Reflex pt.1’, 2024 Lacquered MDF 198 x 67 x 1,5 cm *The cat righting reflex is a cat’s innate ability to orient itself as it falls in order to land on its feet. While cats provide the most famous example of this reflex, they are not the only animal known to have a mid-air righting capability. 📸 images by @mattspour by @irini_b
Boroboro (Kimono / overalls) which pushed everyone who unknowingly crossed paths with it to their limits. (Including my mom 🤍 - best studio assistant ever!) On show for another week as part of ‘The Consolation of Imaginary Things’ over @ioneandmann Posted @withregram • @ioneandmann Boroboro is a Japanese word referring to things that are tattered or repaired and the origin of the term Boro, which describes Japanese textiles that have been mended or patched together. Irini Bachlitzanaki’s Boróboró (Kimono/Overalls), 2024, was inspired by the structure of kimonos and yukatas (their more informal version) and yogis, the thickly padded, kimono-shaped comforters, used for sleeping on cold winter nights, often decorated with auspicious motifs to keep sleepers safe through the night. Irini is interested in their function as something that offers comfort and support for the body as well as the mind but also in the shape of the kimono, which is characterised by an almost diagrammatic simplicity and flatness, oscillating between image and object. Linking it further to domesticity, Irini breaks it down and reconstructs it, using different materials, colours and textures for the different pieces as a play on all the different references and ideas behind the work and also hinting at the idea of a mood board and the bringing together of samples used in the making and designing of interiors. The composition’s modularity and its various components also reference different aspects of our lives, our personalities and how a combination of different experiences make up who we are. The kimono is life-sized. Visit us to see it in person until 21 July! 〜 Irini Bachlitzanaki Boróboró (Kimono / Overalls), 2024 lacquered MDF, painted MDF, epoxy putty,  cotton, foam, wadding, cast lacquer paint 152 x  130 x 2 cm.   Photography by @mattspour Last image by @irini_b 〜 #irinibachlitzanaki #boroboro #kimono #ioneandmann #contemporaryart #artinlondon by @irini_b
