lots of new followers on this account so I thought I’d re-introduce myself and say hi - I’m Bella / Belle / Isabelle Pearl the owner of Finn’s Oyster Bar 👋🏼 my background is actually mainly in film and television, specifically art dept and producing though for the past few years I’ve pivoted and (mostly) left it behind in pursuit of oysters 🦪 and the huge new world they open up! Growing up in a family that spent a lot of time fishing, boating, surfing, camping (sometimes for months at a time on our family’s remote island) foraging, wild cooking and appreciating beauty in all its forms lead me to this calling very organically. My middle name being Pearl after my great aunt, combined with my childhood spent in and around the ocean and on wild islands has always had me drawn to oysters and anything conchology (the study of shells) related 🐚 My little mobile oyster and raw bar business is named after my late son Finn. My favourite oyster is our native Saccostrea Glomerata (Sydney Rock) from my time living around the south coast of NSW. I now live on Wadawurrung Country / Bellarine Peninsula with my daughter Teddy (just us two) and spend most of my time doing private events shucking oysters as @finnsoysterbar , studying oysters with the @oystermasterguild and working with the #shuckdontchuck shell recycling initiative by @nature_aus and @b_alternative which collects shell waste from venues to regenerate the functionally extinct native Ostrea Angasi oyster reefs of Port Philip Bay and beyond. how on earth is my baby 6 years old today?! The days are long but the years are so short 😭💘 around this time 6 years ago she was stuck diagonally with her fist up in my birth canal and now we are here 🥹 happiest birthday to my earth angel daughter Teddy Peach, the funniest person I’ve ever met, foodie snob, dog lover, adventure babe, natural born star and so much more 🥰 you are my entire world and I love you more than I could ever express with words ❤️ I’m so proud of you and grateful that you chose me as your mommy always 💕 by @isabellepearl

Everything I do, I do it for her 🙏🏻 she is the future 💫

thank you for having me @frankiemagazine for the latest edition 💕 a surreal experience after buying many copies of this iconic magazine for most of my adult life! In design school at @aftrs I particularly looked forward to each edition which always included beautiful artwork as a keepsake poster / wrapping paper featuring incredible Australian women’s art and craft 🙏🏻

Is there anything more perfect than an oyster?

@isabellepearl runs @finnsoysterbar which offers just-shucked bliss at events. She also works for @shuckdontchuck, which collects oyster shells to use in reef rehab.

Finn’s is named for Bella’s son Finn, who died in 2019 aged 13 months. The grief is always present but there’s joy too.

today my son should be 8 💔 I say should not would, because he never should have died. he was healthy and happy, it was a tragic but highly preventable accident his grandmother caused. I honestly think I miss him more than ever. I demanded the universe give him back and then I got Teddy 💘 I did the weird reverse of people who lose loved ones suddenly, I started talking to any god that would listen.
I used the same song as my sister’s reel today, it felt too fitting. Started the day at sunrise at the beach, the way we try to every year. Somehow ended up in hospital from intense stress and bleeding - certainly not how I intended to celebrate his birthday but it gave me time to look through my old videos. Say what you will about sharing your kids online but my Instagram archive is a god damned blessing ❤️‍🩹 hold your babies tight. Love you forever Finny ❤️‍🔥🙏🏻 by @isabellepearl

I barely post to the grid these days unless it’s about oysters, Teddy, Finn, friends & family but I just wanted to take a moment to remember this time, the 3 days I spent in Aotearoa, early November 2024 at a pitching & producer workshop with the inimitable @jonfkroll where I met this queen @vanillaitsvanilla ❤️‍🔥
We have been quietly working our asses off on some projects and I won’t mention any of it until the time is right but just wanted to say how grateful I am for her and our relationship. As well as Jon’s mentorship to us both. No matter what comes next I feel it in my soul that we are going to kill it, in line with my motto for life ‘all ships rise with the tide’ is definitely the long game but the best game to stay true to your passions and what you believe in 🙏🏻 so thank you Vanilla, also to Jon for everything 💕💫 I couldn’t be more grateful, anxious or excited! taken in Wellington, New Zealand by @isabellepearl
