This September, the different threads developed throughout the year come together at MX through live acts, installations, talks, screenings and listening sessions, alongside new artistic productions, encounters and conversations between practitioners, theorists and the public.

Albumul 'Sketches' (2024), cuprinde 8 compoziții originale semnate de vibrafonistul @razvanflorescuu. Materialul explorează o gamă variată de culori și stări muzicale, traversând mai multe zone stilistice, dar păstrând un caracter unitar.
'Sketches' reflectă creativitatea și expresivitatea ansamblului, precum și pasiunea acestuia pentru dialog muzical și explorare artistică.

In an energy landscape shaped by centralized grids, the energy harvesting workshop led by Lorena Cocora @lorenacocora brought hands-on power generation to Timișoara. The workshop reframed ambient-harvested energy not as an abstract concept, but as a tangible source, demonstrating how light and thermal shifts can be captured using solar panels and Peltier modules. During the practical part, participants jumped straight into building with piezoelectric sensors: soldering them in parallel, constructing diode bridges to convert alternating current into direct current, and charging capacitors using mechanical pressure. By assembling these circuits, the workshop shifted focus away from passive consumption toward a direct understanding of the technical systems surrounding us.

Over the past days, Australian sound artist Brigitte Hart @tinysound has been following a loose trail through Timișoara, from crystal growth laboratories and flea markets to other encounters with the city’s technological and material histories.

Working together with local artist Dorian Bolca @dorianbolca, she is tracing connections between water, light, radio relics and technological remains as part of her ongoing research, Rivers, Relics, Radiation. Their collaboration brings Brigitte’s sound-based practice into dialogue with Dorian’s work across lighting design, light art and visual experimentation.

This Saturday, Brigitte will open up the process and speak about her wider practice, the places and materials encountered so far, and the questions that are beginning to shape her new work.

The interference lab opened yesterday @it.a.space.for.it

Visual artists, musicians, filmmakers, designers, performers, coders, engineers, sound people and event makers joined the first meeting with Eugen Neacșu @vjburger / @weresist.ro.

Today we move into the second part: an introduction to TouchDesigner and Resolume Arena.

👂 What does the chaotic motion of a double pendulum sound like?

For Belgian artist Floris Vanhoof, this movement becomes the starting point for a new sound installation. During his SIMULTAN × @werktankfactory residency in Timișoara, he is exploring how the behaviour of a seemingly simple system — complex, unstable and difficult to predict once set in motion — can be made audible.

On Thursday, July 9, at 19:00, we meet at !t — a space for it for a presentation by Floris about his artistic practice and the work currently in development.

“In a well-known physics experiment, the chaotic motion of the double pendulum is made visible by attaching an LED to the end of the pendulum and photographing its path with a long exposure. Until now, however, this chaotic movement has not been made audible. This hidden potential sparked my curiosity, and I want to research how it can sound and function as an art installation. By mounting sound generators and a speaker at the end of the pendulum, its movement becomes audible in the form of Doppler shifts,” says Floris Vanhoof.

The presentation is part of the SIMULTAN 2026–2027 international co-production programme, developed with local and international organisations active in media art, sound and technology. This new collaboration is developed together with Werktank, a media art production platform based in Leuven, Belgium, and will continue towards the presentation of the final work at SIMULTAN Festival 2027.

Ai idei care implică imagine, sunet, proiecții, senzori, performance sau spațiu, dar nu ai avut încă unde să le testezi?
În iulie, ai ocazia să le aduci la Atelierul de Interferențe.

SIMULTAN și Electronic Resistance @weresist.ro lansează un program intensiv gratuit dedicat artiștilor, muzicienilor, performerilor, designerilor, studenților și tuturor celor interesați de felul în care tehnologia poate deveni parte dintr-o lucrare, un performance sau o experiență spațială.

Pe parcursul atelierului, participanții se vor familiariza cu TouchDesigner și Resolume.

Vei avea ocazia să lucrezi cu Eugen Neacșu, artist new media cu experiență în instalații interactive, sisteme generative.

După modulele practice, participanții vor putea dezvolta idei individual sau în echipe.
La finalul atelierului, două propuneri vor primi sprijin de producție de 4000 lei.

Ultima seară a ciclului de audiții continuă cu o incursiune în raportul dintre natural și cultural, o călătorie în interiorul sunetului și al transformărilor sale. Vom explora modul în care sunetul brut poate deveni material de compoziție și felul în care o spectrogramă poate constitui baza unei treceri de la natural la cultural.
În prima parte, vor fi prezentate câteva exemple și perspective asupra acestor procese, iar în partea a doua Almasi Gabriel prezenta câteva lucrări proprii, în care aceste idei se regăsesc sub forma unor demersuri componistice concrete.

Miercuri, 17 iunie '𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢 𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐢̂𝐧 𝐦𝐮𝐳𝐢𝐜𝐚̆' continuă ciclul de audiții dedicate muzicii contemporane - o incursiune în universul semnificațiilor, al simbolurilor și al structurilor care modelează discursul sonor dincolo de ceea ce se dezvăluie la prima audiție.
Un element aparte al acestui parcurs îl constituie ultimele două întâlniri, care se vor desfășura în prezența compozitorilor invitați. Participanții vor avea astfel ocazia de a dialoga direct cu autorii despre propriile lucrări, despre sursele de inspirație și despre procesul creator.
Invitatul nostru va fi @gabrielmalancioiu , compozitor și profesor universitar la Facultatea de Muzică și Teatru - UVT din Timișoara. Unul dintre cei mai prolifici și mai frecvent interpretați compozitori români contemporani, Gabriel Mălăncioiu va fi prezent în sală pentru a discuta cu publicul despre lucrările incluse în program și despre propriul său demers artistic.
Vă invităm să participați la această seară specială, care oferă nu doar ocazia unei experiențe de ascultare, ci și privilegiul întâlnirii directe cu unul dintre cei mai importanți compozitori români ai generației sale.
