Meet Simone Johnson Creative Director, Fashion Designer, DJ, and Producer behind The Fit Check.

As the visionary behind the experience, Simone sits at the intersection of fashion, music, and culture. Through The Fit Check, she is creating a platform that celebrates emerging designers, amplifies creative voices, and brings Chicago’s fashion community into the spotlight.

Beyond the showcase, her creative world extends to Crohort, a growing vision centered on crochet, creative education, and community, alongside MOTALIJA, her emerging fashion label exploring personal expression through design.

For Simone, creativity extends beyond the garment. It’s about building something meaningful, creating opportunities for others, and transforming a vision into an experience people can connect with.

Behind the Music: DJ MIGHTY MO 🎧

Behind the decks is Simone Johnson, professionally known as DJ Mighty Mo a Chicago-based DJ with a passion for sound, rhythm, and musical discovery.

Blending R&B/hip-hop, neo-soul, house/Juke, and Dancehall. DJ Mighty Mo curates sets that move between moods, eras, and genres. DJ Mighty Mo approaches music as an extension of her creative vision, setting the tone and creating an atmosphere that connects people beyond the dance floor.

For The Fit Check, she brings that same intentional energy to the experience, blending fashion, music, and culture into one creative vision for the first part of the night.

This weekend I was invited to the @moodfabricsshowroom to see all the beauty they are bringing to Chicago. Little Simone would definitely be so happy to know me right now! I got to meet so many cool and creative people and had such a good time thanks to Mood’s team. It’s such a full circle moment to go from watching project runway at my grandmas house hoping to one day go to Mood to now having the opportunity to teach classes there! I’m so excited! If you haven’t had a chance to go to the showroom yet, go check it out.

One of the things I put on my vision board for this year was to Dj in retail stores and yesterday I got to Dj at @windsorstore .
I worked in retail for 6+ years so this was kind of full circle for me. I also realized that I’ve already been doing it all year just in a different kind of retail. Such a great experience and
