CHICAGO, YOU SHOWED UP.

The Fit Check Designer Showcase + Mixer was more than a fashion event it was a celebration of creativity, individuality, and the people shaping what’s next in Chicago fashion.

From the designers and their incredible looks to the connections made, the energy in the room, and the moments captured throughout the night, this was a reminder of what happens when vision meets community.

A special thank you to @moodfabricsshowroom , our designers, models, media partners, and every guest who made this experience possible (special shoutout to @kiasmithwrites for some of the fit check clips 🫶🏾) You helped bring the vision to life.

And this is only the beginning.

The Fit Check is creating space for emerging talent, bold ideas, and meaningful connections at the intersection of fashion, culture, and creative expression.

The looks were served. The connections were made. The vision continues.

Welcome to The Fit Check. 🥂

Stay connected for more from the showcase and what’s next.

It’s such an exhilarating feeling to be in a room filled with people on the same frequency as you. People who are brave enough to take what they have seen in their minds and bring it into fruition, knowing that others will judge them but yet they still continue to create anyway. Everybody can’t do that, everybody won’t do that.

Building a platform and a network for those who will is what The Fit Check was created for. To bring these people together with the hopes that they will inspire each other to create more, and hopefully connect and create together. Our first event was more than a success. Thank you to everyone who contributed as this was a team effort for to pull off for sure.

This event came from a thought in the mind of @itsmightymo
with the great partnership of @rensowavy and a special thank you to @moodfabricsshowroom for the collaborative efforts with the space.

This was an incredible night

BEHIND THE VISION: SIMONE JOHNSON ✨

Meet Simone Johnson Creative Director, Fashion Designer, DJ, and Producer behind The Fit Check.

As the visionary behind the experience, Simone sits at the intersection of fashion, music, and culture. Through The Fit Check, she is creating a platform that celebrates emerging designers, amplifies creative voices, and brings Chicago’s fashion community into the spotlight.

Beyond the showcase, her creative world extends to Crohort, a growing vision centered on crochet, creative education, and community, alongside MOTALIJA, her emerging fashion label exploring personal expression through design.

For Simone, creativity extends beyond the garment. It’s about building something meaningful, creating opportunities for others, and transforming a vision into an experience people can connect with.

Tomorrow, that vision takes center stage as MOTALIJA makes its debut at The Fit Check Designer Showcase + Mixer. One vision. Multiple expressions. A new chapter begins.

WE ARE SAYING GOODBYE 👋 Everything must go (including us). Last day: September 13. 💥

We built this place on laughter, chaos, and YOU. From open mic nights to comedy sets, bingo, chicago art locker events, chess, sweaty yoga to EDM nights that definitely broke a noise ordinance or two, hip hop shows that turned this bakery into a venue nobody saw coming … you showed up, every single time. And let’s not forget the cupcakes. So. many. cupcakes.

So let’s skip the tears and throw ourselves a proper farewell. Come say byee, bring an appetite, and some hugs for us.

Logan Square, thank you for making Blazed Bakery so much more than a bakery. 💛🎤🧘🎧

The Crohert’s first Crochet Workshop (Sound,Sip, &Stitch) went something like this…

The purpose of these workshops is to introduce beginners to crochet, help you learn a new hobby, reduce stress, and if you feel you want to continue on a guided journey, join the Crohert Cohert after a class of two.

We want to teach you how to gain patience, find peace, and express your creativity through yarn and hook. If you find that fiber arts speak to you and you want to take it further, we want to help you on that journey.

We’ll be announcing the next date soon, in the next workshop we will be making crochet jewelry using some basic introductory stitches. Leave a Comment and we’ll DM you when the Workshop drops. Only 13 spots available. 💕
