𝓕𝓲𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰, 𝓟𝓻𝓸𝓹 𝓶𝓪𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓰, 𝓦𝓸𝓻𝓵𝓭 𝓫𝓾𝓲𝓵𝓭𝓲𝓷𝓰... 🏰💬 Over the past 2 months at Sectie C I engaged with people and the topic of Creative & Cultural Preservation through collecting objects and stories.

Through taking on the character of a Girl Scout, I was able to survey the terrain and gather Field Notes from the unique Case Study of Sectie C! 🫡⛳️

very happy to share images of the furniture/installation pieces we did for @strpeindhoven at @proto_strp

This bar and accompanying partition seat are made from a “papercrete” composite. It’s then finished with limewash and iron oxide (my favourite).

Material innovation is something I derive a lot of enjoyment from, especially when the materials are of a naturally occurring source and take an organic form! Even though the elemental components that are combined to make cement go through heavy industrial processing, in its essence it is born from rock and clay and it chemically reverts back to sedimentary rocks over hundreds of years. How cement is produced and handled today is profoundly damaging to our environment, but fundamentally it is a nature-born material!

Production design is by my favourite creative collaborator, best friend and housemate @itsphorreal. Structural fabrication is by the welding sensei studio_souchon and material research and finishing is by yours truly.

How do you begin to summarise the culmination of a 2 year Masters programme?! 🛖💬

One thing's for sure, it couldn't ever be done alone ❤️‍🔥🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Every work an excuse to try something new 🎁, to process through making with my hands 🤲🏻, to spend time with others 👥, to pay homage to those both near and far who left a mark on me 🙇🏻‍♀️ Thank uuuUuu～(⁎⁍̴̛ᴗ⁍̴̛⁎)╮💐

Coins piercing into their bodies💰 Jewels bleeding through their fur💎 Gold blinding their eyes⚜️... It's a criminally delectable scene of hedonistic indulgence and sugary excess 🤮 WHO did this to them and WHY?!

In a world driven by the DOLLAR, material wealth is often conflated with personal success ⛓️ Our hysterical pursuit of more often comes at the cost of harming ourselves 🤢 These cats aren't just icons - they are mirrors. In their brokenness... we might glimpse our own 😶‍🌫️🪞

How aware are we of society's influence on what we desire? 🥀

At the very beginning of my time at @designacademyeindhoven I was tasked to create 1 min clips of my life Before Eindhoven, and After arriving in Eindhoven. Within it lay an assumption of stark change and difference given the geographical relocation.

So I made a diptych, hunkering down instead on the universal values and truths of love, community, memory making, that make all that is unfamiliar, feel familiar 🤲🏻 It's 2 years on, and still this rings true! Transcending time and space 🛸🔭💭🫂 by @itsphorreal

It's 2 years since I left Singapore, and first arrived in the Netherlands 🌲🌲 Returning to school was so fun, but also soo challenging - a complete upheaval. If my inner world was a garden, then I've uprooted every plant and tilled the soil. It's a HOT MESS! And I don't know what it'll look like next, but I do have some seeds and the intention has always been to grow deeper roots and reach taller heights 🫘

Even though it's been 2 years.. now that I finished this Master's programme, I feel like I'm moving out of DAE and into the Netherlands for the first time. I feel deep gratitude, joy, but also uncertainty, longing, grief - it's again a season of change!

I've been reminded that the upsetting cloud that often looms over me, is tethered to fear and a longing for a picture of my life that could tell me how it's supposed to be 🔮

But if I already knew, then what would be the point? My future successes would cease to be rewards.

I'm reminded that life isn't a puzzle to be solved, or a destination to arrive at, but a dance to engage in and enjoy 🪩 And again, I am called to courage! Called to trust 🤲🏻 by @itsphorreal

DON'T MOVE THE FOUNTAIN was exhibited last year at both @viennadesignweek and @dutchdesignweek, and was the collective baby of the 24/25 class of Contextual Design MA students 🎓🎓🎓🎓🧑‍🍼🥹

The title was a nod to the concurrent sentiment we shared at the time <DON'T MOVE THE SCHOOL> when @designacademyeindhoven was nearly relocated OUT of Eindhoven ⛔️😶

For this installation (spearheaded by Viennese hotshot & ringleader @wimmrue 💋🫡), we dispersed into groups & each crafted a unique fountain head 🐲🔪⛲️

My DREAMTEAM consisted of @jonghoo.jeong & @baidageorge 💫 Over the summer, we foraged scrap materials from our home countries, then breathed new purpose and narrative by collaging them together, then encrypting a message. In it's fullness, it would've read: "𝐁𝐔𝐓 𝐀𝐒 𝐁𝐎𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐖𝐄 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐊 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐄. 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐎𝐖𝐍 𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐎𝐃𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓.. 𝐈𝐒 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐌𝐎𝐔𝐒... Around us is often too much noise, destruction. We need more than ever reparation, reconstitution, and a belief that even from rubble, water and new life can still spring. 🌿💧
