You know a place is good when the cafe is filled with your peoples upon arrival lol. 🫶🏼

Thanks @heart_noodles for a wholesome meal and service 💕🍜

You basically tick the menu sheet with what soup base you’d like and what veggie and protein you’d like. As standard each bowl already includes tofu skin and bean sprouts.

I chose rice noodles in spicy sour soup, and added Chinese cabbage and pickled daikon! Manny went for a pork bone broth with pork belly & pickled daikon!

We ordered:
-two bowls of noodles
-7up
-Lychee and lime drink
🧧£33 (paid in cash which is slightly cheaper than card, iykyk)

They have a nice promotion where if you share their latest post they gift you a lamb dish. We had the fattiest melt in your mouth lamb with a lotttt of garlic and spring onion. Do I have garlic breath right now? Yes. Any regrets? Never. I talked about how amazing it was all the way home lol.

Oh oh also, the owners said if I shared their post on my stories you get a free lemon tea drink! Wahooo!

They don’t bathroom facilities but their connected izakaya pub (also v good, all over socials) @queens.arms.patricroft is 2 min drive away & can happily accommodate!

Announcing ESEA HERITAGE MONTH 2026!

This year, ESEA Heritage Month invites us to reflect on the theme “Evolving Threads”, honouring the ways our stories, actions and solidarities are continuously woven together across time, place, and community.

Communities move, adapt, and grow, shaped by migration, geopolitics, and creativity. Our theme this year recognises that the experiences of East and Southeast Asian communities are deeply interconnected across generations, borders and movements.

From community kitchens to mutual aid networks, from migrant journeys to climate justice campaigns, our threads intersect with those of other communities facing displacement, inequality, and systemic oppression. Our evolving threads help us to build coalitions across communities, groups and movements, drawing on the lessons of the past and the realities of the present to imagine new futures.
This theme calls attention to:

Adaptability:
how our communities navigate change, preserve culture, and reimagine identity in shifting political and social landscapes.

Interconnectedness:
the threads tying us to each other and to wider narratives, reminding us that no movement or community exists in isolation.

Solidarity:
the ongoing work of showing up for each other across differences, forging imperfect, messy yet necessary alliances.

We encourage you to interpret the theme as freely as you like. “Evolving Threads” asks us to honour the past, recognise the networks of today, and take responsibility for the connections of tomorrow and beyond.

Register your event now at eseaheritagemonth.co.uk

Not so typical day in my life! Thought I’d bring you along. Was in London 3x in the last week which I haven’t done in aaaages. Luckily trains were all super smooth, and the most important thing, got to do some face to face stuff AND be in my own bed by the end of the day! Yay! by @itsvivyau

Ad (affiliate) here’s this socialist telling you to get rich, after all I am Chinese 🤣🧧

These fruit Cantonese flash cards from @icklebao are a fun and practical way for little ones to learn Cantonese (and Mandarin too!) - as someone with toddler level Cantonese, I’ve also had fun learning the names of fruits in Canto too! They all sell dim sum 🥟 , colours and shapes, numbers & animals in both Cantonese/Jyutping (Romanisation of Cantonese words) & Mandarin too!

If you wanna buy these flash cards, I have a 10% off discount code on full price items to save you money! You can also help me get rich if you use the code VIV10 or via the link in my bio! (this is an affiliate link where I receive a 10% commission on any orders)

The team kindly gifted me these GET RICH purse and tote bag after I bought the Cantonese flash cards with my own money, so wanted to spread the love for a small Chinese run business!! 💕 #cantonese #getrich #uksmallbusiness by @itsvivyau

This is what Manchester is all about 🫶🏼🐝

Wai Yin Society are an incredible Manchester based Chinese community centre very close to my heart! 💕

I’ve volunteered since last summer with them in creating a monthly newsletter. When I spoke to some workers and volunteers there (and not just Chinese volunteers!), they had been part of the centre 20+ years, a really strong testament to the longstanding commitment the centre has to help its communities.

It’s not just Chinese people that benefit from the work either, they have so many users, supporters & partners from all walks of life, faith, backgrounds interacting with the service, reminding us how vital these spaces are for physically connecting communities. This is the Manchester I know and love.

@grubmcr have just done up this @grapestreetmcr area. It’s just round the corner from @scienceandindustrymuseum and a 2 minute walk away Right opposite Caravan and The Trading Route and in between the @factory_international building.

Today I just fancied some siu mai which is made from chicken, and it cost me £10 for 6 dumplings.

They were really hot and juicy and I asked for LOADS of chilli oil 🌶️

You know what, I’ll never get tired of being a manc, you just end up chatting to loads of nice people getting their lunch. I talked to a guy who runs the co-working space @departmentcreativemcr and then two women who were visiting from Somerset. I’m always so happy when visitors love the city as much as me.

@dvinedumplings told me that they’re at Grape Street this week (Thurs 19th & Friday 20th 12-6pm) go say hi to Leo the owner - he’s so friendly, and wish him a happy new year and a prosperous 2026 year of the horse! 🐎 🧧#manchester #mcreats #grapestreet #dumplings by @itsvivyau

Kung Hei Fat Choi! Yeah make sure if youre in a Chinese time of your life that you’re giving back to those who made it possible for you to switch races! Hope you get rich!! 🧧🧧🧧🧧#kungheifatchoi #lunarnewyear #chinesenewyear #givememoney by @itsvivyau
