I don’t think I have ever done this, but allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jacque and I am a matcha enthusiast turned tea educator and business owner with a special affinity with Japanese teas.

I was a regular coffee and tea consumer, also because my mom worked in the same industry and I was exposed early on. During the pandemic, I had no choice but to figure out how to make drinks myself since we were all required to stay indoors.

Since then I have tried my best to build relationships with people in the tea industry — tea equipment artisans, tea enthusiasts, farmers, suppliers, and business owners all over the world. Our casual conversations as well as having a small but meaningful experience on the field has helped me in my journey.

In my pursuit to learn more about my tea, I was introduced to Chado, the “Way of Tea” or more commonly known as the Japanese Tea Ceremony. There I learned that it goes beyond a cup of matcha, it gives emphasis on mindfulness and conducting oneself. There are principles we follow and they are: Harmony, Respect, Purity, and Tranquility. These are things that I always, always abide by in my practice in and out of the tearoom.

Apart from that, I have taken formal education through avenues that are available to me like the GJTA and the ITMA, both of which I continue to do until today. The goal is to continue to educate myself because tea will always be a journey, and I hope I get to help others in theirs too.

Ultimately, I’m someone who loves matcha and tea and it is something that I always love to share and talk about, but never ever in a negative light. I may be a tea educator, but more so, I am a matcha advocate — may that be the tea itself, the culture, the people, but most of all, the community. Business Traveller Asia-Pacific - January-February 2026 ✨

Last October, the Editor of the magazine reached out to me for a feature in their upcoming issue, he asked me to share about Jacque and Matcha for their “Personal Branding” section and I COULDN’T BELIEVE IT!

They saw stories online from Manila and those articles were the jump off point (I think). So I want to thank all of you for your support — thank you for joining my workshops, trying out my matcha whether through pop-ups or retail, and for following me on my socials. It means a lot to me to be able to share about what I am most passionate about. 🙇🏻‍♀️

I was a little shy to post this and it took me a month to do so?? Hehe. I’m just mindblown. Like wow, an international publication!!! 😭🤯

@kalsadacoffee Café Weekend to celebrate International Coffee Day ☕️

Local coffees sourced and co-produced by Kalsada, roasted by local roasters (@hometowncafeph is one of them!), brewed by lica.valdez and Maine Magno. Plus a signature drink using cascara with pineapple soaked in honey and a dash of Ilocos vinegar!

Sweets were by @derya.goods using ingredients from their neighbor @ritualph 👌🏼

A little stopover at @seriousstudio’s Pasalubong Center!! 🪅

To celebrate their 14th anniversary, they worked on a creative exercise by designing labels fit for their own version of a fun and quirky pasalubong center — the best part is that they featured their existing clients from around the country. Spicy suka? Check. Asin Tultul? Check. Ube crinkles? Checkkkkk!

Our Coffee + Matcha Workshop with @crateandbarrelph, @fellowproducts.ph, and @delonghiph happened yesterday at their SM Aura location. Best believe that everyone was properly caffeinated! 🍵☕️

You may see @rgmedestomas a lot during my workshops and pop-ups as he is my best partner in everything, but this is actually our first official workshop together as a coffee + matcha tandem under @hometowncafeph.
