POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

👉🏽I started God Behind Bars almost 17 years ago. I was 20 years old and began to see so many of my friends getting arrested… I felt the Lords voice in my heart say, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” I knew that my only response was “Send me, I’ll go.” From that small yes, God has done more than I could have ever imagined… 72 prison church campuses have been launched all over the United States. The @pandoapp has expanded to over 550,000 prisoner tablets. We have seen almost 1,000,000 salvations. Over 10,000 baptisms! Jesus gets the glory, it’s all about Him. Just remember, your seemingly small YES to God, can go farther than you could ever imagine. Give God your YES!

👉🏽 We are doing this same REVIVAL event at Angola prison in Louisiana on Sept 26. For over 2000 inmates. It takes about $35,000 to pay for ALL of this - food, equipment, travel and more. Would you donate to help us? Go to godbehindbars .com/donate

INCARCERATED BUT FREE!! We stepped inside his prison dorm to hear his story and see where he lives. But what impacted us most wasn’t his room. It was his mission. 🙏🏼 From inside prison walls, he’s helping other incarcerated men find Jesus and discover a new life in Christ. COMMENT “podcast” to watch full story

God Behind Bars CEO Jake Bodine says Christians should not view justice and redemption as competing ideas when thinking about the men and women serving time in America’s prisons.

In an interview with ChurchLeaders, Bodine discussed the ministry’s work and its selection as the first-ever inaugural recipient of the Community Impact Award for Peace & Purpose, presented by Jesus Calling, at the 57th annual GMA Dove Awards. The award recognizes faith-driven organizations making an impact beyond the music industry.

For Bodine, the ministry is about helping incarcerated people understand that their past does not eliminate the possibility of redemption.

“There is no wall thick enough, there’s no razor wire high enough, and there’s no past dark enough that keeps the love of Jesus out,” Bodine said.

🙏🏼“I’M BETTER THAN THE WORST THING I’VE EVER DONE.” Kevin knows what it feels like to look at your life and see nothing but hopelessness—addiction, regret, shame, and even thoughts of ending it all. But today, he knows exactly who he is. “My identity is in Christ. I know exactly who I am. I know exactly what I’m called to do.” Kevin doesn’t know if he’ll ever experience freedom outside of prison, but he’s realized his purpose isn’t dependent on his circumstances. “If God grants me the gift of freedom outside these walls, that’ll be amazing. But if His calling is for me inside these walls, even if that means dying inside these walls, I’m okay with that too.” Your worst moment does not have to be the end of your story. God can still redeem it. God can still use you. God still has a plan. ❤️ COMMENT “PODCAST” and we’ll send you Kevin’s full story.

🙏🏼 “Life without parole is more than just life without parole. It’s life without purpose. It’s life without love.” When you know you may die in prison, it can feel impossible to believe your life still has purpose. But God began filling every “without” with Himself. He brought mentors to teach him the Word, gave him opportunities to lead, and allowed him to help other incarcerated men find sobriety, hope, and purpose. Now, in the very place that once felt like the end of his life, he is serving the church and reminding others that their story isn’t over. A prison sentence may take away freedom, but it cannot take away the purpose God has for your life. 👉🏽 COMMENT “podcast” for the full story!

🙏🏼 LESLIE IS IN PRISON… But that’s not how he wants to be remembered. He grew up in the streets with no father, no mentor, and surrounded by gang life. Eventually, that road led him to Angola Prison, where he’s now spent more than a decade. But prison wasn’t the end of Leslie’s story.

It’s where Jesus found him. 🙏🏼

Jesus restored what once felt completely broken. ❤️

Now, after years behind bars, Leslie is rebuilding his relationship with his children and living proof that your worst chapter does not have to be your last.

🎙️ Season 2, Episode 1 of the God Behind Bars Podcast is OUT NOW!

COMMENT “podcast” and we’ll send you the episode, or search God Behind Bars wherever you listen to podcasts. 🙏🏼
