His vibrant palette and symbolic iconography—drawn from African American heritage, ancient cultures, and spiritual traditions—formed a poetic, politically resonant visual language. His work powerfully reflects on identity, resilience, and ancestral memory.Beyond the studio, Floyd’s civic impact was equally profound. As a co-founder of Project Row Houses in Houston’s Third Ward, he reimagined the role of the artist in community life. Kinfolk Collective’s Black Pepper dinner reminded us why we’re blessed to be working in our space. These gatherings, uniquely curated and rooted in community celebrate and accelerate the Black art ecosystem. After dinner, Max Davis provided us a personal studio tour and a preview of their excellent Open Studio loft party (photos/video coming)Chef Saunders served his famous BBQ and @theoldgspirit handled libations. @hebrubrantley hung out late sharing love with collectors and fans like only he can and even did his first art in the studio!
