This month, our @socalasla chapter helped to host the ASLA 2026 Conference on Landscape Architecture. What a thrill it was to support @nationalasla on this immense endeavor and welcome over 6,000 students, designers, landscape architects, educators, and affiliated professionals to Los Angeles. It was truly a celebration of all things Landscape Architecture, and I’m always so wonderfully refreshed to see so many friends and colleagues all together in one place. I got to speak with incredible collaborators about WRT’s CHEERS project in Cleveland, collaborate with local chapter leaders from across the country, hang at our Host Chapter Booth and meet so many attendees, see our Legacy Project come to life at the General Session, attend so many incredible education sessions and events along the way, and also cheer on ASLA’s newest cohort of Fellows.

It was an exhausting month (I’m feeling a bit like Marty, pictured in photo 20), but I’m as energized and excited as ever to serve as our Chapter’s President for the next year!

A life well lived, and a massive hole in my heart that I am filling with my favorite memories of you, every day. It was my greatest honor to call you my grandma for 38 years of my life. It is with deep sadness, and a heavy heart, that we share our beloved Grandma Erb, Ginny, G-Ma, GiGi, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of March 15th after having been surrounded by family and loved ones.

How lucky we were to have you in our lives for so long, and to be with you, by your side, holding your hand, for the last few days of yours. Grandma, you were the kindest, most loving and caring, the most accepting, the funniest, the orneriest, and the most incredible person I have ever known. You were a class act, a trailblazer, and a pioneer, you wore a purple suit to your wedding, loved a good book, staying up late, a sweet treat, everything Hollywood and the movies, and you lived your 96.5 years to the fullest, with love overflowing. You had, and will always have a magical way of bringing us together. I see so much of you in my mom and aunt, your daughters who you adored so much. You loved your family, Hollidaysburg, animals (but especially Marty’s tail), and your work (a lifetime commitment to real estate, for 74 years from the age of 16 to when you retired at 90). We traveled the world, shared so many wonderful adventures, but my favorite moments and most cherished memories with you were always at 1201, your home, our home away from home. I am going to miss your smile, your hugs, your kisses, our breakfast nook mornings that turned into late night stories, your ‘happy thoughts’ and all of our moments together for the rest of my life, but I will hold them close as memories of you, the woman you were, the role model and grandma you will always be.

We will hold you in our hearts, hear your laugh in every story, and see you in every rainbow. We never did like goodbyes, so ‘beep and wave’ and ‘happy thoughts’ forever, Grandma, give Pap-pap a big hug from all of us. I love you Grandma, and I miss you immensely.
