Hello Cape Town 🙋‍♂️
Touching down after four months abroad, this is salve for my soul. Two days to catch my breath, and then launching into seven travel assignments across the country: Cape Town, Hermanus, De Kelders, Camps Bay, Franschhoek, Kruger National Park, and Johannesburg.

Stay tuned for four week’s of social media reminders, of why South Africa remains one of the most sought after destinations globally 🇿🇦.

It’s also a significant as South Africa celebrates Pride month in October - a reminder that all are welcome and equal - and for me a source of pride as one of the most progressive legal frameworks for LGBTQ+ rights in the world - was the first African country to affirm all - and South Africa was the first country in the world to include specific constitutional protection against discrimination based on sexual orientation. taken in Cape Town, Western Cape by @jaredincpt

| Wine in the (almost) wild
SA wine tastings in London

Taking advantage of the autumnal beauty, this was the setting for my South African wine tasting in London this weekend. I’m fully booked for Oct and Dec, with two or three slots left for November for home/office tastings.

Send a message to discuss hosting an interactive tasting with fantastic South African wines - and bookings are now open for Q1 2027 - they’re a great way to bring some colour to what can be rather dark London winter days! by @jaredincpt

| Happy Heritage Day 🇿🇦
I’ve spent almost a decade featuring South Africa’s heritage - a multi-faceted and rich one written across the landscapes, places, and faces in our beautiful land. As always I’m deeply admiring of, and appreciative for, the near 2 million people who work in the hospitality industry in SA.

Accounting for 10% of the country’s workforce, they stand at the vanguard of showcasing, stewarding, and celebrating our heritage. Raising a glass to destination South Africa! by @jaredincpt

| Postcards from Puglia: PART 2
(Save as a guide for your future Puglia trip)

Then for the second part - the three other towns in Puglia that have stolen our heart - exploring the area has been one of my absolute Italian highlights - can’t recommend enough:

1. Ostuni
The famous white-washed hilltop city is mesmerising, from the story of why it is white, the shops and galleries lining the cobbled walk up, and then the dazzling restaurants and cafes for hilltop dining.

2. Alberello
There’s truly nothing like the uniquely built truli - the town feels like something out of a Tolkien movie, and is worth giving a few hours to walk through.

3 Polignano a Mare
I fell in love with a photo of the town’s central beach - accessed through a little valley cutting through the town - and it’s every bit the storybook scene I imagined. After swimming here, the old-town streets are a treasure trove of stores and curiosities. by @jaredincpt

| DolceVita Ristorante, Gallipoli
Since Italy boasts a staggering 7,700 kilometres of coastline, seafood has a well-earned place at the table. Near the country’s southern tip, we circle the ancient city walls of Gallipoli before settling into the sunset views at @palazzodelcorso’s aptly named @terrazza_dolcevita. It’s here you find the prized scarlet-red Gallipoli prawns, and dolce vita, quite literally: the Gallipoli prawn carries the sweetness of the southern Italian sea in every bite.

Chef Andrea Campa prefers them served raw – in fact, it’s how he suggests most of his seafood should be served. “When something has been perfected by nature, why interrupt it, he asks?” As he shares his cooking journey, I couldn’t help but ask: “Is it true that all Italian chefs learned cooking from their Nonnas?” A grin leaps across his face as he responds: “It’s partly true, yes. I was always around my grandmother – watching her and other family members cook. These were among my favourite childhood memories.”

The celebration of seafood continues as linguine with raw and cooked prawns fills the bowl, followed by a secondo of sea bass fillet on pea cream. Approaching dessert, we’d made our selection, but with rapport established with Chef Andrea, he returns, asking if he could instead serve us something local. It’s a quick yes, and shortly the heavenly and hyper-local pasticciotti arrive: golden, oval-shaped shortcrust pies filled with vanilla pastry cream, served with torched cream and sour cherry.

[ this concludes my tasting journey through Italy for @yourluxury_africa - stay tuned for the article out soon] taken in Hotel Palazzo del Corso & DolceVita Restaurant by @jaredincpt

| Italian Cooking Course
Back at the @aziendaagricolaagrosi shop, the whitewashed walls and high, star-vaulted ceilings seem almost made for a cooking class. Under Monica’s watchful guidance, we mill wheat, beat eggs into dough, knead and cut it into a parade of pasta shapes.

Meatballs follow, along with a pot of slowly simmering tomato sauce and the irresistible layering of tiramisu. Hungry, happy and flour-dusted, we lay the table and sit down to feast with the Agrosì family. taken in Puglia, Italy by @jaredincpt
