I designed a logo for the University of Texas Golf Club because I don’t like their current one. Now, Texas has one of the most iconic logos in college sports, so I thought it’d be cool to elevate it for the golf course. When brainstorming ideas, I realized a golf tee shares a similar shape with a horn, so I started by illustrating a tee. From there I added a horn element to the end, and duplicated it to mimic the Texas logo. For the color, of course I had to go with burnt orange, and I also added some white highlights to help bring them to life. To round it out, I added the founding year of the university, 1883, and the state of Texas loves a star, so I added one on top #Logodesign #brandidentity #sportsdesign #smsports #texaslonghorns by @jasontichydesign

If the Chicago Cubs had a golf course, this is what I think their logo should look like. With such a deep history, I pulled several references into the logo, starting with one of their old logos that I love which features a cub head. I illustrated the head as well as a body, bringing the logo to life. To add a golf element, I included a golf flag in the cub’s arms, and naturally had to put a W on the flag, as cubs fans fly these after every win. For the finishing touches, I placed the Cubs famous red C behind the cub, and to add a historical element as some golf courses do, I filled the empty space with the year the franchise was founded, 1870 #Logodesign #brandidentity #sportsdesign #smsports #chicagocubs by @jasontichydesign

This is how I designed a logo for Arch Manning. The obvious starting point was an arch—it’s literally his name. I realized that same arch could also form the base of the letter A, so I built the top half above it to complete the shape. It was clean, but I wanted something more personal. Arch is the third generation of Mannings to play football, so I added three lines in the negative space. They symbolize that legacy—but also double as football laces. The arch itself forms the body of a football, and the top part suggests the motion trail of a pass—just like one thrown by Arch. #logodesign #brandidentity #sportsdesign #smsports #archmanning #texaslonghorns #cfb by @jasontichydesign

If the Arizona Diamondbacks had a golf course, this is what I think their logo should look like. Now, the Diamondbacks have some of the coolest branding in the MLB, so this was a fun one to create. I started with a golf flag, and with the team being named after a rattlesnake, I wrapped one around the pole. The diamondbacks also have a cool retro logo of a snake head, so I placed that as the head. Of course with this being a golf course logo, I had to remove the baseball and replace it with a golf ball. Next, I took their wordmark and added the abbreviation of Arizona, AZ to the flag. The Texas Rangers have an official golf course, but there’s one problem. They don’t really have a logo. Yes, this is a real course but they currently just use the Rangers logo, so I created a new one. Looking at the history of the Texas Rangers, they have a cool retro logo that I thought was perfect for this, because I could just swap out the baseball for a golf ball. Then I added their current brand mark on the cowboy hat for a mix of old and new creating a unique mark that feels both baseball and golf. #Logodesign #brandidentity #sportsdesign #smsports #texasrangers by @jasontichydesign

This is how I designed a logo for @granthorvat. Grant is a Youtube golfer known for his friendly persona and great golf game, and I believe his current logo could use a little upgrade to match his rapidly growing brand. It seems very plain and doesn’t have much meaning, so I dove into a new logo. I wanted to use his initials while clearly tying the mark back to golf. The letter G is very versatile as a shape so I started by created a unique looking G. To match Grant’s friendly personality I softened the corners, and added an outline to accentuate it. As a final detail, I incorporated a subtle line at the top to represent the shaft of a golf club, revealing that the G itself is shaped like the head of the club. #Logodesign #brandidentity #sportsdesign #smsports by @jasontichydesign
