🍩 @shipleydonutdash 2026 10K 🍩

The weather was cool and perfect for today’s @shipleydonuts 2026 10K at @samhoustonracepark. I felt great and kept a good steady pace while trying to pick up speed on the 2nd loop.

Interesting part was mile 5 which changed the terrain a bit from concrete, to rocks, and then grass, and back to concrete again while going up and down some ramps.

Chip time was just over 1:03 today. Great to see many out there for 10K and 5K. taken in Sam Houston Race Park by @jeffsyptak

Tuesday evening track run with @timelessrunners incorporated my @runna training of 5 miles. Worked to complete in just over an hour time. Started off with a great route for the warm-up before heading back to the track for the remaining miles. I kept a steady pace and cadence throughout and worked on breath work.

@ed_reyna caught the first pic and we were glad to see him after he completed the Chicago marathon. The sun continues to set earlier but we continue to work on the miles. Onward we continue to January. taken in Cullen Running Trails Center by @jeffsyptak

😎 @riveroaksrunclubff Run 39 😎

This evening, we celebrated all those who have conquered #breastcancer. @glentastica and @run_with_viv invited a special guest to share their story.

Then we went to run the miles. 4.64 miles this evening in 53.15 minutes. Worked a lot on breath work and worked to keep a controlled pace. Stay focus and keep moving forward. taken in Fleet Feet Running Club - River Oaks by @jeffsyptak

👻 2026 Harris County HOWL-O-WEEN Race 👻

21 out of 89 was not bad for all of us who ran a 10K earlier this evening. It was great to see close to 2,000 fellow Harris County team members (including some @harriscojudge office team members) and their families participate in this event.

Chip time was 1:06 and Apple Watch time was 1:08. A little warm but I kept a steady good pace. We continue to train for the Aramco Half in January.

Also today was World Mental Health Day and running has played an important part in my journey.

This afternoon and evening, communities across Harris County will come together with law enforcement agencies, first responders, community organizations, local businesses, and neighbors to connect, build trust, and strengthen the partnerships that help keep our neighborhoods safe and contribute to a better quality of life.

As was mentioned during yesterday’s National Night Out News Conference, National Night Out is about more than one evening—it’s about building the relationships that strengthen our communities and our region all year long.

For the second year, I have had the opportunity to coordinate our @harriscojudge office’s National Night Out efforts, helping my colleagues prepare to visit more than 30 events throughout Harris County and connect directly with the communities we serve.

I was also honored to represent our office at yesterday’s news conference and read a portion of the National Night Out resolution adopted by Harris County Commissioners Court in recognition of the residents, public safety professionals, and community partners who work throughout the year to strengthen our neighborhoods.

Looking forward to another great National Night Out across Harris County! taken in East Aldine District by @jeffsyptak

@wheeleravenuebc Pastor Cosby mentioned, at one point today, about the importance of sharing in the body and blood of our Lord together as believers.

It does not matter our faith denomination, as long as we believe, that His blood will never lose its power, that He died for our sins, that we continue to find mercy and that He will never forsake us, then too can we find eternal joy and happiness.

It is always a blessing to break bread and participate in the sacred sacrament that God has provided with not only the Wheeler congregation once again, but with my friends Commissioner @dexterlmccoy, @tylerfortexas, @peacelovestaci, @sheriffericfagan, former Councilmember @plummer4hou, and many others on this World Eucharistic Sunday. taken in Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church by @jeffsyptak

🌳🏃‍♂️Ending this Sunday with five mile tour of John Paul’s Landing Park 🌳🏃‍♂️

I have been wanting to come out to @hcprecinct4 John Paul’s Landing for a bit. On my way home from a full day of events, I was happy I made the adventure. A very nice park.

Completed an easy run/walk training today. 4.5 is what the training called for and just over five miles were achieved.

This was a great way to continue with Aramco Half training.

Onward we go to a new week. taken in John Paul’s Landing by @jeffsyptak

🏃‍♂️ @fleetfeethouston First Saturday Long Run Woodway Edition🏃‍♂️

Building towards January’s Aramco Half. Great to run with @cookiecrewhtx, @houstonstriders, and @ffwoodwayrunclub. Great to see @jsprinklesdotcom, @wayjohntom, and others.

The Fleet Feet route called for 11 miles. A Strava route I found had 12.5 miles, though I ventured off that course a couple of times. Yet, mentally I told myself I was too close to a half marathon distance and just worked to complete that by walking and jogging the remaining .70-mile distance and cooled down. Tried on @adidasrunning shoes but had lots of problems with left shoe. Good cushioning but shoe was just not sitting right on the left.

This was a great way to begin the day. Glad to have completed the miles. Onward we go. taken in Fleet Feet Sports by @jeffsyptak

It was a little difficult today to find the words necessary to mark what would have been his 72nd birthday.

But, I was uplifted and reminded of God’s grace and mercy by two sermons today. First message was “You have what it takes” and the second “Something New”.

Though what has comforted me the most is a prayer that @pasralphwest shares at the end of each @tcwwhouston service and at which was mentioned at today’s @brentwood_baptist service which is “The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you. The Lord lift the light of His countenance upon you and grant you His peace. May the Lord bless you: when you go out and come in, when you rise up early and settle late. In your labor and your leisure. In your laughter and in your tears until that day when we stand before the feet of Jesus where there is no sunrise or sunset. Be encouraged.”

This message has continued to anchor me over the last couple of years and will remain the strength we need to continue carrying the mission God has set for us and which we will carry to keep his legacy alive.

Happy heavenly Birthday @sylvesterturner!

🏃1st @fleetfeethouston @greenbriarrunclub Run 🏃‍♂️

I have made it a goal to visit and run with each of the Fleet Feet Run Clubs. On Thursday, I took time to get in some miles with the Greenbriar store. Everyone was able to try on @nike Pegasus shoes which were nice to run in.

Great to see @wayjohntom and to meet some new people. I recalibrated my Apple Watch and was able to get a true reading of the pace I was working to keep. Truly enjoyed the people and the run. taken in Fleet Feet Houston by @jeffsyptak

🎉Lots to celebrate on a busy Wednesday evening🎉

Three events yesterday evening as many included special celebrations.

First stop was a reception for @marybenton as she departs City Hall for @metrohouston.

Second event was a fundraiser for @tylerfortexas hosted by @k8.rios and Anthony Rios.

Third event was @timelessrunners 7th anniversary where our @harriscojudge office provided a proclamation to mark the special occasion.

Connected with many great Harris County residents at all three events. Onward we continue. taken in Houston, Texas by @jeffsyptak
