As we prep for this week’s release of the new Tenebrae Annex trilogy, I realized that September has traditionally been a busy month for PKD. We’ve got several albums celebrating release-a-versaries (that’s a thing, right?), so I’m going to take time to shout-out each of them.

First up, this epic from Echo Broke Alone, “The End Of Humanity,” released on September 6th, 2024. Written and composed by Bryan Patton, this record is flat-out beautiful. Themes it wrestles with (the loss of humanity, systemic violence, and more) are deeply embedded within our society, and the room that this album gives to those laments is spacious and generous. Warm, fuzzy guitars with the tones dialed in perfectly, atmospheric ambient passages…insert “chefs_kiss.gif” here.

I’m including some never-before-seen alternate cover art versions that I created in the process of working with Bryan on this album. He absolutely picked the right iteration for the final art, but I’ve always enjoyed seeing alternate art from bands that I love, so I figured y’all might dig seeing these.

If you’ve never heard it before, you need to check out “The End Of Humanity” asap. And if you’re a tape collector, you’re in luck…we have a few copies still in stock over in the Bandcamp store. by @jehu

Last night we had the first official gathering of the Horror Weirdos Film Club. Pizza, popcorn, cookies, friends, and creepy creatures! It was such a blast hanging out, watching The Thing, and discussing it afterward. Lots of cool insights, thoughtful ideas. As a lifelong horror fan, this is the best thing ever!

What are we watching next? Stay tuned to find out…and give a shout if you’d like to join us. by @jehu

Big thanks to everyone who preordered a Tenebrae Annex USB first aid kit on #BandcampFriday. I’m prepping each one with The Rise of Psychic Violence trilogy, the sample pack, and a folder of original wallpapers…plus the hand-drawn electric brain art on the USB drives themselves.

Nearly half of the kits are already sold, so if you want one, don’t sleep on this! The trilogy of albums will officially be out on 9.25, but these USB editions might not last that long. You have been warned… by @jehu

Happy Labor Day, workers of the planet, unite! With gratitude to Em Aech of Joules (check out their killer track on our boombox compilation) for this original collage piece, I wanted to mark this holiday with a quick reflection on the worker-focused nature of Philip K. Discs.

If it isn’t already abundantly clear, we live in an era of transnational corporations who exist purely for the sake of profit and the benefit of their boards and shareholders. The working class is constantly squeezed for every last drop of our labor, our intrinsic value boiled down to dollar signs and decimal points. The artists and musicians of PKD are very much a part of that working class, so a day like today, with its roots and history in the labor rights movement is a day for us to reflect on and envision new ways to collaborate for a better, more unified solidarity into the future.

All of us together are way more powerful than the few at the top of the pyramids…and that scares them because they know it’s true. The seeds of division (racism, misogyny, homophobia, patriarchy, among many others) that they sow are intended to keep us fighting amongst each other, rather than recognizing how much we have in common, how much there is that actually unites us. Part of what’s at the heart of PKD and our committed focus on weird and fringe art is the belief that this is central to what makes us human. Wildly, unabashedly broken and human.

So cling tightly to each other and our collective humanity. Remember your deep, inherent worth today and every day. Reject culture wars for the mirage that they are. Support art wherever you may find it. These are our tools of rebellion and liberation. by @jehu
