Loving ministry doesn’t mean you don’t get tired. Sundays take everything we’ve got. Between the early mornings, serving, and pouring into others, the days can feel long. But that’s why taking time to slow down, reset, and just be together matters so much.

We finally escaped. 😅

The last several weeks have been nonstop, and somewhere between church, work, and everything else, we forgot what it felt like to just slow down.
Today was exactly what we needed. Pool time, floating the lazy river, soaking up the sun, and spending uninterrupted time together. No rushing to the next thing.
Thanks for being my favorite adventure, my safe place, and the person I’d choose over and over again. I love you more than words can say… but I especially love you when we’re both floating with nowhere to be. 😉 by @jenn.hage

The last few weeks have been crazy, transformative, stretching, and difficult. But they’ve also been healing, freeing, life-giving, and exciting.

There have been so many moving pieces and unexpected moments that I almost forgot to be grateful for the crushing. Because like my husband (or as y’all like to call him, “PC”) always says, “In the crushing, God is building.” And He sure must be building something big. 😅

So here’s my little gratitude journal drop…

🏥 I’m thankful for a surgery that brought healing. The bills will be paid because God has always been and always will be our Provider.

🚙 I’m thankful Caleb was able to safely pull over when his car overheated. Even in that moment, God had a purpose. Another man had pulled over nearby with a flat tire, and Caleb got to invite him to church. I’m also thankful for family who dropped everything to pick up his car so we could keep Wednesday night service moving.

(Swipe 👉🏼)

👩‍❤️‍👨 I’m thankful for my husband. He’s my true partner, the person I can always count on and lean on. He gives the best hugs, even when I insist I don’t need one. I look at him often and think, you have no idea the impact you have on the people around you. I’m so thankful I get a front-row seat to watch God use him.

(Swipe 👉🏼)

I JUST LOVE HIM SO MUCH.

(Swipe 👉🏼)

🌹 I’m thankful for the roses blooming outside our front door. We always had roses growing up, and every time I see them, I’m reminded of how far God has brought me.

(Swipe 👉🏼)

☀️ I’m thankful for every sunrise. It’s a quiet reminder that weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

(Swipe 👉🏼)

🗣️ I’m thankful for every person God has placed in my life who’s helped me recognize the lies I’ve believed about myself. I’m learning that the things spoken over me don’t get to define me, God does. For so long, I believed I needed to stay small and stay quiet because that’s what others expected of me. But I’m realizing that just because I’ve been silenced doesn’t mean I was ever created to be silent. My voice has purpose, and I’m learning to use it.

For years, I carried my own “issue of blood.” The physical pain, the questions, the waiting, the tears, and the feeling that my body had become a source of grief rather than life.

I was the woman reaching.

Reaching through disappointment.
Reaching through pain.
Reaching through years of questions my body couldn’t answer.

I always found myself returning to the woman in Scripture who had suffered for twelve years and believed that if she could just touch the hem of Jesus’ garment, she would be healed.

She reached for Him in faith when everyone else had counted her out. And Jesus didn’t just heal her body… He saw her, called her daughter, and restored her dignity.

This tattoo is more than beautiful artwork to me. It’s a reminder that even in seasons of suffering, Jesus meets us there. He sees the women who silently carry pain. He honors their faith. He brings healing in ways we don’t always expect.

I know what it’s like to bleed, to grieve, and to wonder if things will ever change. And I also know what it’s like to be held by the One who says, “Daughter, your faith has made you well.”

Because of Him, my story isn’t one of brokenness.

This tattoo is my reminder: the hem was enough. taken in Critical Ink by @jenn.hage

Today feels like a milestone in more ways than one.

This afternoon I went to my post-op appointment for my hysterectomy and was cleared for all normal activities with no restrictions. At only 4 weeks post-op, I’m healing so well, and I’m incredibly grateful for how smoothly this recovery has gone. What a miracle.

Today also marks 9 years sober.

Nine years ago, I made the decision to walk away from the needles, the pipes, and the life that was destroying me. I had no idea then what God had in store. Jesus has rebuilt my life in ways I never could have imagined. He has carried me through valleys, celebrated with me on mountaintops, and given me a life that is full of purpose, peace, and gratitude.

Looking back, I’m overwhelmed by how much can change in 9 years.

Every day is a gift, and today I’m celebrating two reminders of just how faithful God has been. 💛 by @jenn.hage

Officially got my Full Specialist license back today!!! 🥹✨

And somehow it happened exactly 1 week post op… which feels like God (and the State of Florida 😂) said “here’s a little something for your troubles.”

I’m gonna go outside and do some cartwheels now 🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️ (just kidding). taken in Gainesville, Florida by @jenn.hage

P.S.
If I can gently raise awareness about one thing from our infertility journey…

Please be mindful of the things you say to people struggling with infertility or chronic reproductive health issues. I know most comments are well-meaning, but sometimes “advice” can be incredibly hurtful and dismissive.

Over the years we’ve heard everything from “just relax,” “go drink wine,” “maybe go to XYZ because of the altitude,” “are you sure you’re doing it right?” and even comments about demons or spirits causing infertility. Meanwhile, I was dealing with very real medical issues for YEARS, pain for YEARS, passing uterine and fibroid tissue and bleeding for SEVEN months straight and symptoms that were deeply affecting my physical and mental health.

Infertility and women’s health struggles are not punchlines, casual conversation topics, or problems that can be solved with unsolicited advice. You never truly know what someone’s body is enduring behind closed doors while they’re doing their best to keep a smile on their face.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can say is simply:
“I’m sorry. I’m praying for you. I’m here for you.” An occasional bouquet of flowers, brownies and hot tea never hurt anyone either.

That kind of compassion goes a lot farther than people realize. Let’s start practicing empathy in a whole new way 💚 taken in Gainesville, Florida by @jenn.hage

‘Twas the night before surgery, and all through the house… not a creature was stirring except me triple-checking my hospital bag and trying to remember if I’m allowed to drink water after midnight.

Tomorrow morning I’ll be having my hysterectomy, and while this road has been long, exhausting, and full of uncertainty, I finally feel hopeful. After years of questions, pain, and an unmeasurable amount of exhaustion… I finally get to rest. I’m excited to heal, get my life back, and experience life in a whole new way on the other side of this.

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for me, sent encouraging texts, gifted things to help keep me comfortable during recovery, and signed up to bring meals to us. The amount of love and support surrounding us has meant more than I can put into words.

I know surgery is only one part of the journey, but tonight my heart is full of peace, gratitude, and expectation for what’s ahead.

See y’all on the healing side. 🤍 taken in Gainesville, Florida by @jenn.hage

Five years ago, we said “I do” in this little chapel… with no idea just how much life we’d walk through together.

Since then, it hasn’t been a straight path. We’ve faced loss, big moves, hard goodbyes, unanswered prayers, and seasons that stretched us more than we ever imagined. We’ve changed churches, changed states, lost friendships, and carried the quiet ache of dreams that didn’t come easily.

But through it all, we never let go of each other.

We learned that love isn’t just the butterflies and the beautiful days. It’s choosing one another on the hard days, the confusing days, the days when nothing makes sense. It’s holding hands in the dark and trusting that God is still writing a good story.

Coming back to the place where it all began reminded me of something: we may not be the same people who stood here five years ago… but we are stronger, deeper, and more in love than ever.

You are still my safest place, my answered prayer, my steady in every storm. No matter where life takes us, as long as I’m walking it with you, I’m home. 🤍

Here’s to five years down… and a lifetime to go.

I love you. Happy Anniversary. ⛪️🤍💍 by @jenn.hage
