God’s plan > our plan. ✨

Three years of infertility.

Three years of silent struggle, fear, disappointment, uncertainty and unanswered prayers.

Three years of feeling left behind and questioning if parenthood was meant for us.

We cried out so many times, “Lord, why are you keeping us here?”

The truth is He was planting seeds all along.

From the v beginning, we rejected the phrase: unexplained infertility. It felt like a lazy diagnosis for us, one that ignored fundamental root cause medicine. We made it our mission to dive deeper. You are your own greatest advocate.

We are not meant to be treated with a one-size-fits-all approach. Infertility is an epidemic. We urge every woman—every couple—to go to war for your health. Ask the uncomfortable questions. Seek answers. When it comes to your health and future, do not settle for the path of least resistance.

This chapter has been the most unrelenting season of our lives. It truly took a village—Mercier Therapy, fertility acupuncture, Chinese and herbal medicine, gynecologic surgery, restorative reproductive medicine (RRM), and finally, assisted reproductive technology at AFCC.

To each provider—thank you for guiding us with expertise, compassion + hope.

To our family and friends who prayed with us and carried us through our heaviest season—we love you. Your faith strengthened ours infinitely.

Infertility reshapes everything—your plans, faith, confidence, sense of self. We had to surrender the timeline we imagined, let go and wholeheartedly trust God’s plan for us.

To our darling cowboy—we would walk this road a hundred times over if it led us to you. The waiting, the setbacks, the losses, the starting over—each season demanded more trust than the last. And even when we could not see it, God was working quietly, behind closed doors and within detours that made absolutely no sense at the time. We now understand this entire process was leading us to you.

To those still in the waiting—we know the pain of these announcements. We pray our story offers even the tiniest glimmer of hope. God is not finished with your story. He is working in the unseen, making a way for your miracle too.

He is always on time. 🤍 taken in Jackson Hole, Wyoming by @jenremdvm

38.

These photos represent a girl whose life was about to change forever. I was carrying the little life I had prayed, fought + waited so long for, unaware that I would experience my own rebirth.

I just didn’t realize becoming “her” would be so incredibly hard.

Motherhood has been the greatest gift + one of the most disorienting transitions.

Everyone is quick to tell you to soak in the magic of the newborn bubble. And tbh, this makes me feel so shitty. Most days, I’ve felt more like I’m barely surviving, stressing about not coping as well as others.

My love for Boone is indescribable — his 10-week-old smile just melts me. 🥹 But these early months have also brought exhaustion, overwhelming anxiety + a struggle to feel happy while adjusting to a life that 180’ed overnight. There is so much shame in admitting this when I’m holding the very thing I prayed for.

How can the most joyful blessing of my life coincide w one of its hardest seasons?

This is postpartum depression + anxiety.

PPD + PPA do not equal regret of becoming a mother or lack of love. I can be overwhelmingly grateful for my son + still admit postpartum is insanely hard. I can adore this new life + still grieve the old one. I can be a good mother w/o loving every second of motherhood. I can ask for help w/o shame.

These truths can coexist, and it took awhile to arrive here.

One of the cruelest parts of postpartum mental illness is how easily struggle disguises itself as ingratitude or weakness + admitting you’re not okay can feel like failure.

So we suffer in silence, smiling on the outside while hurting immensely inside. I’m sharing this because I want to rewrite the narrative for myself + others who share this story.

We celebrate the birth of a baby so beautifully. I think we need to make room for the woman being born alongside too — for the messy, vulnerable + sometimes painful becoming. She may not recognize herself for a while. She may need help finding her footing. She may need time.

I’m still getting to know her.

Here’s to 38 — a little softer, a little stronger, a lot more vulnerable and w no shame in embracing the beautiful + the hard.

Here’s to rebirth, here’s to Boone’s mom. ✨ taken in Chicago, Illinois by @jenremdvm

Welcome to Boone’s dude ranch. 🤎✨

Poured so much love into this space for this little cowboy. Each detail is so dang special, including vintage farmhouse pieces from the 1940s and badass cop photos of his Papa Rick in heaven. Can’t wait to see him grow up in here. 🥹 Nothing like a cowboy straight out of Chicago, Illinois. Long live cowpokes. 🤠 taken in Chicago, Illinois by @jenremdvm

Diaper man,

I didn’t fall in love w you all over again the day Boone was born. I fell in love w you all over again in these days that followed.

When you learned to swaddle, correctly change a diaper and burp techniques before I did, then patiently taught me.

When you became the Baby Brezza king — constantly washing bottles, prepping bottles and somehow always having the next one ready before we need it.

When you take ownership of all of the baby apps and track Boone’s sleep score, body temp, SPO2 and Snoo levels bc you know I’m a boomer and hate technology.

When you take over the day and night shifts so I can sleep.

When you make sure I eat, my Yeti is full, my medications are taken, all of my recovery goods are Amazon primed and I care for myself when I barely have the energy to even move.

When you hurriedly paint, build a closet and perfectly hang all of the nursery decor bc Boone decided to arrive early.

These first few weeks have been some of the most difficult of my life. I cannot do much physically, and there are days I feel completely depleted. But I never feel alone.

Postpartum has showed me a different kind of love—the quiet kind. The kind that shows up at 4 am, keeps the house in order, warms the bottle, walks the dogs and asks what I need without ever keeping score.

Happy first Dad’s Day, Bert. Witnessing your transformation into fatherhood has truly been one of my favorite chapters of our story yet. Boone, Oph and Wally are so lucky to call you Dad, and I’m blessed to call you mine. 🩵

Love,
The milk lady

Boone — meaning “blessing, a gift from God.”

Our greatest blessing arrived May 28, 2026.

Nearly ten days in, and he’s proven to be a little bit outlaw wrapped in a whole lot of love.

Welcome to the world, sweet cowboy. ✨ taken in Chicago, Illinois by @jenremdvm
