Look who surprised @whiteelephantpdx today; @cookingwithnana!

One of the pioneers of sharing Lao food on social media, Euy @cookingwithnana has helped bring our flavors, traditions, and love for cooking into so many homes— including mine! I learned to make Awh (traditional Laotian stew) from her tutorials, so getting to feed her today felt a little extra special.

There’s something so meaningful about someone you’ve learned from and admired showing up to support what you’ve built. Thank you, Euy, for sharing our culture with the world and for showing WE some love! 🇱🇦🤍

Celebrated our favorite Andrea’s belated birthday at @the_malarkey_pdx last night!

Chef @brianmalarkey’s newer spot in the former Oba space is described as a love letter to Portland—and the decor delivers. A little hodgepodge of everything Portland that somehow works SO well. There’s even a disco ball in the bathroom. A 🪩! Clearly, they understand my needs!

Drinks were delicious, food was fantastic, and service was spectacular. But the company? My favorite part. 🤍

The more seasoned we become, the more I cherish time with my people. Our schedules are hectic, but we ALWAYS find a way to make it happen. A belated celebration is still a celebration. Love our tribe. Happy Belated Birthday, @a_grandemartinez! WLYSM! 🫶🏼

P.S. We later found out we just missed THE Michael Jordan as our reservation was a little bit later in the evening. Dangnit!

When WE feed a squad—figuratively AND literally!

Once a Raider. Always a Raider. But today, he came back to give. Today was a special full-circle moment for our White Elephant family, especially Justin, who played football from third grade through his high school years as a Reynolds Raider.

When Justin learned about an opportunity to feed the Reynolds High School varsity football team, he brought it to our attention. And of course, WE were all in!

Having spent several years cheering from the sidelines, WE know firsthand the dedication these student-athletes put into their sport. And let’s be real, growing football players can EAT! 😂

Most of our kids are long out of school, but giving back to our local communities has always been part of who WE are.

What makes today especially meaningful? Justin personally delivered the meals to the very football program he was once part of. 🥹

As parents, WE spend years teaching our children the importance of giving back. Seeing those lessons turn into actions is a reward no amount of business success could ever replace.

Today, WE fed the next generation of Raiders. But, the greatest reward was watching our own son give back to a community that once poured into him. 💚

What did I do while I was in The Bay Area over the weekend? I got fat(ter). That’s what I did. And not one single ragret! 😜

From homemade pizzas upon our arrival, to delicious breakfast at One House Bakery (one of the best chicken pot pies I’ve ever had!), to an incredible surf and turf dinner at Dead Fish, to a fantastic Cambodian dinner at our friends’ wedding, to a delicious lunch at Pier 23, to various bites from street vendors along Pier 39, to an awesome teppanyaki dinner and show at Kimono Japanese Restaurant. Plus, all of the coffee, snacks and quality family time in between.

Sum it all up: a full belly and an even fuller heart. Absolutely grateful. ♥️

This past weekend, my family and I made our way down to the Bay Area to celebrate the beautiful wedding of our dear friends who have become family, @theararifficus & @luxkong. 🤍

A little history: Lux, my husband, and I go way back to the early IG days. We were some of the foodie OGs, if you will. We found each other through food and kept up with each other’s lives from there.

Over the years, we’ve watched each other navigate life’s growing pains, build businesses and raise kids. So, when Lux told us he’d met someone really special, we couldn’t wait to meet her.

And then we did. Sweet, humble, smart and beautiful. Theara had us instantly smitten. Add in all the foodie posts Lux was sharing while giving her credit for the creations, we told him ASAP: “She’s a keeper!” She quickly became our lil’ sis.

It’s been such a joy watching them grow as individuals, as a couple and as parents to King. They are two of the most genuine souls and it was an absolute honor to be part of their special day.

Last weekend, we were thrilled to be part of @beavado’s surprise 40th birthday celebration!

It’s not every day you turn 40, and let me tell you… Duy’s family and friends went ALL OUT! Although @the.tipsy.elephant was contracted to bartend a birthday party, by the time everything came together, it truly felt like a small wedding. And somehow, the birthday boy didn’t have a clue! What a success!

The food was AMAZING, the desserts were absolutely delicious and TE kept the drinks flowing all evening. The best part? Everywhere we looked, you could see just how loved this man is.

The hospitality extended to us, too. Throughout the evening, Duy’s mama and aunties kept checking on us: “Did you eat yet?” “Make sure you eat!” And before we left, they made sure my team and I went home with BOXES of food. Trust me, it didn’t take much convincing.

As I was saying my goodbyes at the end of the night, I saved Mama Duy for last. She pulled me in for the biggest Mama hug, thanked us again and told me that TE is officially the family’s go-to for bar services. Now THAT is one of the biggest compliments we could receive! 🥹🖤

Happy 40th, Duy! You are clearly so incredibly loved by your family and friends! We’re grateful The Tipsy Elephant got to play a little part in such a special celebration.

Last month, WE had the pleasure of catering Cocktail Hour for @lani.2012 and @jstickles89’s intimate wedding at @festivehillwinery in Oregon City. 🤍

After walking the grounds, my sister said the venue reminded her of a little slice of Italy. I’ve never been, but I could see what she meant. It was beautiful!

For their approximately 100 guests, WE served Vietnamese Chả Giò, Golden Tofu, Coconut Shrimp, Crab Pillows, Thai Fish Cakes, and Mini Boxes of Drunken Spaghetti.

Lani and James, thank you for letting us be part of such a fun and special day. Happy One Month Anniversary! 🥂

Apparently, turning 15 does NOT mean Mama gets the night off. Dangnit! 🫠

Another birthday, another request from Maddie & Brookie for a home-cooked feast with the family, featuring some of their favorites: Mama’s Coconut Curry Dungeness Crab & Shrimp and Chicken Khao Poon, while Big Bro Justin handled the grill with some delicious Beef Ribeyes with spicy Jeow Som. 🔥

•REINTRODUCTION•

“She’s a business owner. She’s got her life together.”

Oh, boy. If only you knew… 🫠

Don’t get me wrong, I make sure my businesses are handled. I’ve even extended a couple of new branches along the way. Insane? Perhaps. Worth it? 100%.

However, I am so much more than my businesses. I’m a mother. A wife. A caregiver to my husband, who requires around-the-clock care. A daughter. A sister. A niece. A Gigi. A friend. An unintentional Uber driver. And, occasionally, an unpaid therapist.

The Universe has thrown some craptastic curveballs my way. But, I believe it’s how I’ve chosen to handle those 100 mph pitches that has shaped the woman I am today: more understanding, more confident, more unbothered, and more driven.

Lessons aren’t only learned through success. Some of the greatest lessons are learned during the falls. What matters is how you choose to rise.

So, some days I run businesses.
Some days I run carpools.
Both are equally important.

I’m not just the woman behind the businesses, I’m the heart behind the hustle.

I’m me.
