My view for the next week or so. I’ve been moved to the repat while my ankle heals, then I’ll start rehab. This whole thing is feeling too real and kinda freaking me out. All I want is to go home, but there people I’ve met here and the hospital have all been great.

This has been my view for the past 5 weeks! A week before that I was in ICU. About 6 weeks left, maybe less, who knows! 11 days until my right ankle is healed then I can start rehab! I don’t know what that will look like as I have multiple injuries but bring it on! I need to get home to my loves Pier and Vala!!!!! #hospital #injured #currentview by @jesbolby

Ok! Where have I been for the past 6 weeks? Well, do I have a story for you!
August 25th, around 6:15am I was about 10 mins from home, on Victor Harbour Rd on the way to work.
Apparently the road was bad (water, mud etc from a storm the day before) when myself (in my little Suzuki Swift) and a guy in a work van, slid/ lost control on the road and hit each other head on at high speed. Thankfully there was a lady driving behind me who witnessed the whole thing and called 000.
The guy hurt his back, but I didn’t end up so good. My car, specifically the front drivers area and myself took the majority of the damage.

I honestly shouldn’t have survived, but screw that! I married my love Pier 5 months earlier, plus I need Vala, so I survived!!!

Here is my list of injuries and surgeries:
1. Had a brain bleed which was most likely from the impact.
2. Broke my left cheekbone which now has a metal plate. During surgery, a nerve was removed from below my left ear and inserted around my left temple as that one was too badly damaged. Right now the left side of my face is 80% frozen and feels half numb, half icky.
3. Broke my right ankle, which was operated on 4 weeks ago and now has 3 screws.
4. Broke my pelvis, which was operated on 4 weeks ago and now has a plate and 2 screws on either side.
5. Broke my left femur, which now has a rod from the top of my thigh to my knee, held together by 2 screws below my kneecap (the knee is the most painful!!)
6. Left hand was de gloved at the big knuckles, but they saved it and is still swollen but getting better! At least 1 more surgery is required on my hand.

So there you have it!!! I can stand on my left leg with assistance, and will hopefully start rehab on my ankle in 2 weeks!!!

For the past few months I have been going to the gym about 4 times a week to do strength training. I decided it’s also time to work on cardio as I absolutely despise it. Well, here’s my progress over the last month - I’ve done many more runs in between these dates, but these are my fastest times, and I gotta say, I am proud of the progress I’ve made! taken in Victor Harbor, South Australia by @jesbolby

Just a cheeky little wedding last week…Pier and I got married! We had a nice little ceremony in our backyard so Vala could be our little ring bearer.
More photos to come, I’ve gotta go through them all!!!
