fourth annual fall family trip 🤎🍂

after romie was born, we took a little family trip to the mountains to see the changing leaves, and jesse and I decided then that it would become our family tradition every year.

now here we are, four years later, watching them grow up bigger and bigger every fall. 🥹 these little trips together are some of my favorite memories. fishing, playing games, swimming, exploring, and just being together.

and this year feels a little extra special knowing it’s our last fall trip as a family of four. I can’t believe we’ll be adding another little one to the crew soon. 🤎 by @jessegranados

Today I chose to start my 30s the way I want to live them… fully surrendered to God.

I was baptized as a baby, but stepping into this moment as an adult feels sacred.

Jesus was baptized and began His ministry around 30, and it feels symbolic to do the same: a new decade, a new dedication.

Yesterday we made the toughest decision I think we’ve ever had to make. Exactly seven years to the day of when we first met her, we put our beautiful Aspy girl to sleep. It was unexpected, and I still can’t believe that she’s gone. Our hearts just hurt.

Aspen was just the best dog. Never destructive, never demanding, always present, and always loving. She was and will always be our first baby. She was a patient guardian of our kids, and the best companion to us through college, early marriage, a new home, and raising babies. God used Aspen to teach me patience. To teach me how to give grace.

Aspen came into our lives in the fall of 2018, just seven weeks old, before our last semester of college. She was the absolute center of our world and she made our little family complete.

When we came home to Colorado after graduation, Aspen quickly became the heart of the my parent’s household. She was so loved by the entire family. We always took her EVERYWHERE we could, and she was always there next to us, tail wagging, eager to be part of every moment.

When Mila was born, Aspen wasn’t quite sure what to think at first, but soon her patient spirit shone through. She became Mila’s absolute best friend. By the time Roman arrived, Aspen was the perfect big sister. She was just always so patient with our children, letting them climb all over her. She soaked up their love, and gave it back tenfold.

God created Aspen to be the perfect companion. One of the meanings of the number 7 is completeness. We knew her for exactly 7 years, and she made them all complete. We just love her so much. A piece of my heart will always be with my Aspy girl ❤️ by @jessegranados

Today, we celebrate you ❤️ not just for this milestone birthday, but for the incredible woman you are every single day. I thank God for the gift of your life, your heart, and the story He’s writing through you.

Watching you grow in motherhood is one of my favorite things I’ll ever get to see! You love with such intention, you lead with grace, and you pour yourself out to our children in ways that reflect the very heart of God. I see His strength in you, His wisdom in you, and His gentleness in the way you care for our babies.

I love living this life with you. The big moments and the small, the wild and ordinary days. What a gift it is to do it all with you by my side!
