What if the way we think about organizational success is too short?

We celebrate rapid growth. Big years. Successful campaigns. Visionary leaders. But some of the most consequential organizations in the world have been doing their work slowly and steadily for 100, 150, even 200 years.

They’ve survived wars, recessions, cultural shifts, leadership transitions and technologies their founders could never have imagined. So what do they know that the rest of us don’t?
That question became Here for Good.

I shared some of what my co-author @hannahjstolze and I were learning at Story last year. With @storygatherings coming up again next week, it felt like a good time to finally share a little of that conversation here.

In 2017, I created a note on my phone titled "100-Year Brands." It wasn't a book idea. It was a question I couldn't stop thinking about: Why do some organizations endure for generations while others slowly lose their way?

Over the years, that question followed me into boardrooms, refugee camps, crisis zones, and conversations with founders, CEOs, historians, and community leaders. Nearly a decade later, it has led to years of research with Dr. Hannah Stolze, a study of more than 7,000 mission-driven organizations, and interviews with leaders whose institutions have endured for generations.

I never imagined that one note on my phone would become a book. Today I'm grateful to finally share the cover of HERE FOR GOOD: How Great Organizations Create Enduring Impact.

Alex Bell Roh is our guy on the ground in Seoul, producing international productions, commercials, and K-pop projects, and assembling exceptional Korean crews for shoots of every shape and size. 
We’ve made some pretty great stuff together. And apparently the global network extends to breakfast, because Justin caught up with Alex in LA on Sunday. 🙌

There is a certain kind of magic when creative craft meets deep cultural understanding. We built a whole film division around it.
Introducing Box3.

For over fifteen years, film has been at the heart of how OX helps organizations multiply good in the world. Over those years, we have learned a lot about what it takes to tell stories across cultures, contexts, and continents in a way that truly honors the people at the center of them.

So we found a third way of making films: a curated global network of trusted producers and long-term collaborators, people we have worked alongside for years, who bring cinematic craft together with a genuine understanding of the communities they film in.
