Practical Programming & Progressions
Assess and modify Pilates exercises to accommodate clients with diverse movement abilities.

@pilatesbonnie helping me find my feet for my first attempt at ROCKING : a feet pulling straps in the Stott Pilates second long box series of advanced reformer

Exercise Setup : lie prone (face down) on the long box, facing the tower. With your feet are placed in the long straps.

The exercise : You reach back to hold onto your feet or ankles with your hands, creating a closed loop.
Utilizing the resistance of the straps and the engagement of your glutes, hamstrings, and back extensors, you pull against the tension to lift into a deep spinal extension (resembling a rocking-chair bow) and use your breath to rock backward and forward on the box.

My next steps is that whole using the breath to actually rock the chair 🤣 and I definitely need to warm up my quads first to be able to reach the laces of my foot

This is one form or extension I don’t mind in the repertoire it feels amazing I just need to work on nodding the head not ever extending through the neck

What other cues can you give me to hit the exercise with success next time? 💪🏼
