Tree to Sea Bike-packing Loop

950km/11250 meters climbing through the remote forests, mountains and coastlines of Vancouver Island. The Tree to Sea bikepacking route took us along rugged gravel roads, through quiet backcountry, across remote stretches by water taxi, ferry to Alert Bay all through the traditional territories of First Nations communities.

It was challenging, wild and incredibly beautiful with long, demanding days rewarded by unforgettable landscapes, a true sense of remoteness,we met some great people along the way from all over the world. We finished at my good friend Tami’s, who spoiled us with an amazing meal and spoiled Boulder for the 8 days of our trip 🙏

Highly recommend the Tree to Sea route to anyone looking to bikepack Vancouver Island. It’s tough, remote and requires preparation, but the scenery & adventure are worth it.

As a mom of a daughter diagnosed with a rare disease that not a lot of people understand,I continue to try to learn everything I can about this disease . That’s why weekends like the Desmoid Tumour Foundation’s Together We Will are so important for patients & caregivers.

Athina couldn’t join me this year she is spending a semester abroad in Santiago, Chile, and she is not letting desmoid tumours stop her from experiencing the world and making memories. 🩵

A special thank you to the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation in the USA for making it possible for me to attend Together We Will. I’m incredibly grateful for their support and all they do for Desmoid Patients world wide.

I was so grateful to be there, learning from clinicians & researchers, hearing about the latest research and connecting with other patients and caregivers who truly understand this journey.

And while I missed having Athina there, I’m incredibly proud of the way she continues to live life on her terms and not letting this disease define her.

🩵 Together, we will.
🩵 Togther, we will find a cure.

RUN FOR RARE ❤️🏃

On Sunday, August 16, I'm taking on my biggest running challenge yet—80 km (50 miles) around Wood Lake—to raise $1,000 for the Desmoid Tumor Foundation of Canada.

I'm doing this for one of my closest friends, Athina, who was diagnosed with Desmoid Fibromatosis at just 15 years old. It's a rare disease that affects only 2–4 people per million, and I hope this run can help raise both awareness and funds for research.

This isn't a race, it's a community run. Whether you want to run one loop (17 km), a few loops, ride your bike alongside, hang out at the aid station, or simply come cheer, I'd love to have you there. I'll have my car set up as an aid station, making it easy to refuel, take a break, and spend the day together.

Wether you are able to join or not, I'd be incredibly grateful if you'd make a donation. Every dollar helps support research, education, and awareness for those living with desmoid tumors. If donating isn't possible, sharing this post is another amazing way to support the cause.

The donation link is in my bio. ❤️

More specific details about the meeting spot and timing will be coming soon!

If you're interested in joining or have any questions or ideas, send me a DM. I'd love to make this an awesome day with as many people from the community as possible!

Today I rode my own Athina’s Ride, and it reminded me once again why this journey means so much.

As Athina’s mom, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges that come with living with a desmoid tumour. That’s why Athina’s Ride is about so much more than cycling—it’s about raising funds for research, creating awareness, and giving hope that one day we’ll find a cure.

One of the most meaningful moments this past weekend was having Amanda volunteer with us at the Okanagan Graveller and help with Athina’s Ride. Amanda is also living with a desmoid tumour. If you grabbed some post-ride food, you probably met her.

Desmoid tumours affect only about 3 in a million people each year. To have both Athina and Amanda together at the same event was incredibly special—and a powerful reminder of why this work is so important.

To everyone who has donated, volunteered, supported, or shared our story over the years, thank you. Because of you, we’re helping fund research and bringing hope to families affected by this rare disease.

We’ll keep riding. We’ll keep raising awareness. And we’ll keep believing that together, we can help find a cure. 💙

What a day.

After years of wondering if we’d ever bring this event back, today reminded me exactly why we did. Seeing hundreds of smiling riders roll across the finish line made every late night, every challenge, and every bit of hard work worth it.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out, to the incredible volunteers who gave their time, and to everyone who believed in this event enough to help bring it back.

I’m exhausted… but so grateful. Today was pretty special. ❤️

342km. 14 days. 11,848m of climbing.

From coast to coast 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿— we did it.

Plenty of Guinness, laughs, a few wrong turns, and more than a few very sore feet… but every step was worth it. Doing this alongside my sisters and niece made it something truly special.

We carried my parents with us — leaving a part of them along the way on the trail my mom once walked (and my dad proudly supported from the van ).

We also met some incredible people along the way — the kind that make journeys like this even more unforgettable.

Now the tradition carries on. Next generation, you’re up. 💕

From the Irish Sea to the North Sea

Today we start walking Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk — a 300km journey across England, from St Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay…

My parents did this in the 90s — now we’re carrying them with us across!

Started with a dip in the Irish Sea, woke up to 5° and sunshine.

Ending each day with a cold Guinness in an English pub… apparently we signed up for a 300km pub crawl with scenic breaks 🍺 🤣
