A week in 🇺🇸 spent at the best golf facility in the world learning from the best in the world. Lots of ideas spiralling right now - so time to sit down with the team and assess how / what we currently do and how we can take @macrogolf_ to the next level. Any jet lag tips drop them in the comments @mytpi @justinjamesgolf @golfzillazuback #tpi #mytpi #macrogolf #golfperformance by @joe_macrogolf
Such a simple motion but a very misunderstand part of the golf swing. Getting this right fixes so much issues … along with more effortless speed. Give it a try. #macrogolf #golfswing #swingspeed by @joe_macrogolf
If you were to learn golf again from the start, this could be a good way to go. #golf #macrogolf by @joe_macrogolf
Clear that head full of swing thoughts in 5 mins with this simple sequence. Get that natural athleticism back and enjoy the game again. Golf can be fun #golf #macrogolf #golfswing by @joe_macrogolf
We are a mixed up mess of experiences, beliefs and stardust. Lean in to the randomness and execute dynamically #golf #golfperformance #macrogolf by @joe_macrogolf
I practiced today 😵 15 mins of resistance work and tennis balls 🎾 followed by a few holes on the @fullswingeurope sim. Have a guess on what I am currently working on - best comment gets pinned. #macrogolf #golfswing #golf by @joe_macrogolf
You want to get to “scratch” You want to be a “scratch golfer” So tell me why ✉️ joe@macro.golf Tell me your golf story. I know there is one. #macrogolf #scratchgolf #golf by @joe_macrogolf
Feeling frustrated, erratic, short tempered. They are probably feelings you are bringing to the driving range, which are then having a light put on them. It’s no way to learn. No way to perform and really no way to live. What are you doing …. Do you ever just think that to yourself? Some of this might mean nothing to you, for some of you it’ll mean every thing. If you feel spoken to, drop me an email joe@macro.golf and tell me your story. It would be a pleasure to hear it. #golf by @joe_macrogolf
You might notice from this point I start speaking to you in a slightly different way approaching things from a different angle. Some of it might mean absolutely nothing to you and that’s absolutely fine. But for some of you right now, this will start to mean something. For those of you that it doesn’t maybe it’s just not the right time for you, but never say never. If you’re still reading this down to this point, then you have some kind of interest in hearing something very different to what you may have seen in read before. And that’s a great starting point. So I’ll ask you the question now that I ask everyone when they first walk in for a session with me. What’s the story? Because I know there is one. Everyone has their own Golf story. It’s just that most people don’t care to listen. But I wanna know so I want you to email me your Golf story feel free to include as much or as little detail as you wish and I just want you to start it as an email with the subject heading my Golf story. Just start typing, just start typing and see what comes out. Send it to joe@macro.golf Chat again soon #macrogolf #golf by @joe_macrogolf
These drills fix a key part of the move that I see golfers get wrong. Chest starts to outrace hips and the whole sequence goes to 💩 Here’s a feel to get things back on track. #macrogolf #golfswing #golf by @joe_macrogolf
This is a process we use to make swing changes actually stick. Most people just to stage 5/6. Heads up - if you have a ball there then you will always try to find strike - no matter how much you “don’t care where the ball goes I’m just trying to make the move” #golfswing #swingchange #golf #macrogolf by @joe_macrogolf
Making a swing change while hitting normal golf balls at full speed, watching the flight and judging every result. That asks a lot of you. You are trying to create an unfamiliar movement, find the strike and produce a shot you are happy with, all at the same time. When the first few balls come out poorly, it is easy to abandon the change before it has had much chance to develop. We have been working on a more progressive way of approaching this. Start slowly enough to understand the movement and establish a useful feel. Then add speed without the complication of hitting a ball, bringing your power profile back into the swing as you do it. From there, gradually introduce contact and precision through larger objects, a ball into a net and eventually normal ball flight. How quickly you move through the stages depends on what the movement can survive. If it disappears when you add speed or contact, you have found the area that needs more work. Making the task increasingly difficult from there will usually pull you back towards the movement you already know. Good shots on the range are encouraging, but there is still more to test. Take the alignment mat away, change clubs and targets, then introduce slopes, wind and different lies. After that comes the golf course, where you have one attempt and the result carries a consequence. As the movement becomes more established, it should need less supervision. Eventually, you should be able to give your attention back to the shot in front of you without losing the change you have developed. If you are working on a swing change, pay attention to the point where it starts to disappear. That tells you where your practice needs to stay. #MacroGolf #GolfSwing #GolfPractice #GolfCoaching #golfperformance by @joe_macrogolf
