Breathwork Therapist 🧙🏻‍♂️🪽

Talk therapy is phenomenal for understanding the way we think, feel, act. You can understand your attachment style, your parental wounds, etc.

But intellectualising will only get you so far.
If you truly want to free yourself from these belief systems, whether you are aware of them or not, it requires working with the body.

As they say, the body keeps the score. The body holds the tension youve carried, potentially even since birth. You feel it as pain or discomfort. No amount of intellectualisation can touch that.

Thats where breathwork comes in.
Breathwork takes you into the body. Giving it what it needs to release.
Beginning to gently ease away that tension, those thoughts, the weight youve carried for so long.

Sound familiar, maybe its time to breathe.

Introducing Gift Culture here pricing at Navigating Breath.

You choose what you pay. Anywhere from $100 to $180+ NZD per session, based on what is honest and reasonable for your situation right now.

This is not a charity. It's mutual trust.
$100 covers my basic running costs.
$150 covers my costs and supports my family.
$180+ supports my family and helps me extend this work to those who need it most.

All I ask in return is these things from you:
❤️‍🔥Show up consistently. Share the work if it moves you. And if cost is ever a genuine barrier, talk to me, I'd rather have that conversation than have it stop you.

❤️‍🔥 Breathwork works best with regularity, so after your first session I ask that you commit to at least four, no more than two weeks apart.

This boundary exists because I've seen what consistent work does.
And I want that for you

Existing isn't living.

Living isnt guaranteed.
Somewhere along the way, most of us learn to avoid feeling instead of moving through the emotion.
But that depth youre avoiding? Its the same depth that connects you to real life.

A peaceful home starts with peaceful parents. 🤍

We’re often told how “peaceful” Milo is, and I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the effort that goes into making this possible.

Because a peaceful home isn’t just something that happens.

It’s something we consciously create.

Here are 5 things we do as a couple to protect the peace within our home:

1. Time to ourselves.
We encourage each other to have alone time. Time to fill up our cup, decompress and process whatever might be creating dis-ease within us.

2. Nature time.
Time outside to reset our energy and create space. Sometimes being inside, in the same environment, can feel dense. Getting outside gives us room to breathe, move and shift perspective.

3. Breathwork.
Creating space to breathe. Nothing to fix. Nothing to achieve. Simply taking a few breaths and coming back to the present moment before we react from a place of overwhelm.

4. Radical self-responsibility.
What I’m feeling is my responsibility.
Less projection. More curiosity.

What is it that I actually needed?
Why did I feel upset, angry or hurt?
What is this bringing up for me?
And how can I communicate that?

5. We come back to each other.
Space doesn’t mean disconnection. It gives us the opportunity to regulate, reflect and then return.

We talk. We listen. We take responsibility for our part. We repair.

Because protecting the peace in our home doesn’t mean we never experience frustration, anger or tension.

It means we’ve created enough space to feel it without making it everyone else’s.

And perhaps that’s one of the greatest gifts we can give our children:

Not parents who are peaceful all the time…

but parents who know how to come back to themselves, and then come back to each other. 🤍 taken in Christchurch, New Zealand by @johnvanhuenen

I'm here to challenge the idea that youre broken

Its been my lived experience, that with openness and curiosity we can move beyond the beliefs that are projected onto us by others.
The beliefs that are keeping you powerless.

Breathwork can be your tool to reclaim our power and heal our body, but it requires your openness and dedication.

Two themes have been showing up again and again recently

Guilt and shame.

And all they do is push people deeper into the sense that there is something wrong with them. That there is no point. That they may as well give up.

Often these emotions are layered. A guilt or shame about feeling a certain way in the first place. Maybe you find yourself lashing out at your partner, friend or your child, knowing they are not really the cause of your pain, only the outlet.

That's the important thing to remember about our triggers. It's never really the person or thing we think we're angry at. It's almost always an unprocessed experience or an unmet need.

The people I work with are the ones willing to turn toward it rather than away. Beneath the guilt and shame there is usually anger, pain, grief. Guilt and shame are byproducts of feeling like something is inherently wrong with you. They're not the root. They're the signal.

That's where breathwork comes in. Deep introspection without the noise of the analytical, judgemental mind. Once that pain is released, the guilt and shame begin to dissipate. As does the frustration and anger at the outside world.

Dr David Hawkins' Map of Consciousness, as shown above, maps out where guilt and shame sit on the scale of human frequency. At the bottom. As we begin to process these emotions, we access higher levels of consciousness. The world becomes brighter and more expansive. Less tension in the body. Opportunities flowing more freely. Looking at the world from a place of potential, not just through the lens of everything that has already happened to you.

Clients who have moved through this have gone on to live lives that once felt completely out of reach. New countries. New relationships. New versions of themselves they had stopped believing were possible.

"So what's it like being a family man"

Its full on, its taking me to my edges, its showing me parts of myself that I've kept in the shadows, that I've not yet learned to love. It stretches our relationship, on dreams, our goals. Its taught surrender, and tenderness.
Its also full of love, joy, overwhelm, wonder.

And I wouldn't have it any other way

Its also made me grateful for all the years of deep inner work.

Today we celebrate John Van Huenen ✨

Trauma-informed breathwork therapist, father, and someone deeply committed to helping people reconnect with themselves through the power of breath, presence, and self-awareness.

This conversation explores trust, surrender, fatherhood, healing, and the powerful realization that we don’t have to carry everything alone.

We spoke about one of John’s deepest insights: letting go of the belief that “it’s all up to me.”

A belief many of us carry without even realizing it.

Through his own journey, and now through the work he shares with others, John has come to understand the importance of creating safety within ourselves, learning to trust life more deeply, and allowing support where support is needed.

What I loved most about this conversation is that it reminds us that growth doesn’t always come from doing more. Sometimes it comes from pausing, breathing, listening, and creating space for something new to emerge.

We explored fatherhood, nervous system regulation, nature, healing, and the role breath can play in helping us move from survival into presence.

We are here to open the door to reflection, resonance, and revelation.

And this conversation does exactly that.

This is a space for truth, trust, and the kind of insight that comes from simply being human.

If something in you is ready to loosen its grip, trust a little more, and remember that you don’t have to carry it all alone — come along for the ride.
