Friend, if we really believe that Scripture is God’s Word, that it is living and active, that Jesus prioritized memorizing it and using it to fight against the enemies schemes when He was tempted in the wilderness, would we be so presumptuous to think that we are above needing to hid it in our hearts? What a treasure it is to have God’s very own words treasured up in our hearts! May we all see the need and enjoy the tremendous joy of knowing and savoring God’s Word.If you enjoy memorizing along with music, I’ve created a free resource for you to enjoy, called Melodically Memorizing, where I have over 100 passages of Scripture set to music so that you can, Lord willing, memorize a bit easier. It’s available on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Music! Follow my Instagram, @melodicallymemorizing, where I have each and every passage I’ve put to music. Praying it is a resource that you are encouraged by! by @joyfully.abby

There is no greater joy, no greater truth for our hearts to rest upon, no greater treasure we can amass, no greater love that we can abide in but the truth of knowing this:That God’s just wrath that was meant for me, because I am a sinner, was poured out on His perfect Son, Jesus Christ, who lived a perfect life, died the death that I deserved by taking on all of God’s righteous wrath, and then rose back to life, thus conquering sin and death, and offers forgiveness of sin and eternal life to all who place their faith and trust in Him.This is the cure to a melancholy, apathetic, numb, and dead heart alike. Awaken it with the flame of the gospel, dear saint, for the gospel is not just for the lost—it’s for the sinner made saint, too.Praise the Lord for His glorious gospel! by @joyfully.abby

“I asked the Lord that I might growIn faith and love and ev’ry grace,Might more of His salvation know,And seek more earnestly His face.‘Twas He who taught me thus to pray,And He, I trust, has answered prayer,But it has been in such a wayAs almost drove me to despair. I hoped that in some favored hourAt once He’d answer my requestAnd, by His love’s constraining pow’r,Subdue my sins and give me rest.Instead of this, He made me feelThe hidden evils of my heartAnd let the angry pow’rs of hellAssault my soul in ev’ry part.Yea, more with His own hand He seemedIntent to aggravate my woe,Crossed all the fair designs I schemed,Humbled my heart and laid me low.“Lord, why is this,” I trembling cried;“Wilt Thou pursue Thy worm to death?”“’Tis in this way,” the Lord replied,“I answer prayer for grace and faith.”“These inward trials I employFrom self and pride to set thee freeAnd break thy schemes of earthly joyThat thou may’st find thy all in Me.”-I Asked the Lord that I Might Grow by John Newton#operationbringbackhymns by @joyfully.abby

Our hearts say a lot about us. Jesus tells us in Matthew 12:34 says, “…out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” What we cherish the most will affect what we speak about. What we love the most, who/what we serve, and the fruit that those things produce, whether good or bad, flows directly from our hearts. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.”.Yet, dear Christian, when you see areas that do not align with glorifying Christ, don’t simply change the habit or change the behavior. We’re not after behavior modification. God wants your heart. He is after true, lasting heart change..The more I study God’s Word, the more I’m humbled. He does not want me to simply pull myself up by my own boot straps and try better, modify my behavior to look like a good Christian, or to swap out “gosh” for “goodness” because I think that will is what makes a “good Christian”. No. If anything, doing those things in my own strength for my own glory will only make me more prideful, swelling my ego, engulfing any view of humility or need for Christ that I had. No, behavioral change is not what needs to take place..Now, don’t misunderstand me: In the process of sanctification, outward change WILL indeed happen. Yet, it will happen from first seeing that there needs to be a change in the heart, and then from the heart change, outward fruit will flow. Just as a bad tree will not bear good fruit, but bad, do a good tree will bear good fruit. Don’t first worry about the fruit—worry about the roots. Change first needs to happen in the heart. As a father wants his child to not simply “do” what he asks him to do, all the while resenting his father, but rather to do what he asks him to do out of a heart that loves and wants to please his father, so the Lord wants our lives to produce fruit of obedience form a heart that loves, honors, and wants to please our Heavenly Father. We will sin. We will mess up. But when we do and we confess our sins, our Father is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9) (continued in comments 👇🏻) by @joyfully.abby

Before Daniel and I started dating, one of the many qualities that stood out to me was his love for his mom and sisters. Not only did I see him talking with them, helping them in various ways, or giving them hugs upon seeing them or saying goodbye, but when talking with his mom and sisters, I heard how much they loved Daniel.I heard them talk about how he would always take time to listen to them, give them counsel when they needed it, would always answer the phone when they called…I could go on.I observed his patience, tenderness, care, wisdom and love for his mom and sisters, and knew that whoever he married would be treated in the same way.And in the Lord’s kindness, all my assumptions about Daniel were not only right, but abundantly exceeded by Daniel’s patience, tenderness, care, wisdom and love, as I, his wife, have been on the receiving end of it these last 13 months and 10 days.So finding out that our first baby is a girl was no surprise to me—the Lord has been preparing Daniel to love, care for, lead, protect, cherish and treasure this little girl for years. Now, there will be two Ekberg ladies in our home who get to enjoy the gift of Daniel, and that makes my heart soar. We cannot wait to welcome baby girl in November! The Lord is so good.🎀🌸🤍 by @joyfully.abby

the day my life changed forever and for the better 🥹🤍Little backstory: Daniel was at Shepherds Conference in CA, and wouldn’t be back for 3 more days 🫠 I didn’t want to tell him on FaceTime, so I had to wait an agonizing 72 hours to tell him 🙈 longest three days of my life! But the joy we both experienced when I told him in person was so worth the wait. 🥹Daniel and I are still basking in all the anticipation and excitement of being parents, and November can’t come soon enough! The Lord is so good. 🥹 by @joyfully.abby
