Coming up on six months ago, @reachelissa and I (and the 🐈) pulled up to our new home in Taos, NM. These months have been filled with so much welcome, peace, delight, reflection, transition, joy, emotion, quiet and beauty. The world is a tough place right now. Being here doesn’t feel like escape, but it does feel grounding and stabilizing. It makes such a difference to be in the presence of millennia-old culture, with sacred mountains out our window, and vast horizons that remind us of what is larger and more eternal. On an earlier trip to New Mexico we read about a magical place called the Valle Vidal. This weekend we were lucky enough to spend a couple days there. Fall aspens, vast meadows, elk bugling (!) us to sleep, it was a perfect and incredibly special way to ground ourselves in the beauty and richness of this place. A week ago we pulled in, on now-familiar roads, to our (temporary) new/adoptive home of Taos, NM, where we’ll be for a couple months. A beautiful week of warm sun, roasting green chiles (Offical Aroma of the Stare of New Mexico!), lively tunes in scenic locales, working with new and ever-changing backdrops, and above all, getting to immerse in the natural beauty of this magic place @reachelissa and I both love so much. May. Florida getaway for work, play, playa, pool, and shrimp. Flowers blooming. Days getting longer, warmer. Fish stew a la @alisoneroman. @coach_adam_pierre_sfg accompanied by VIP assistant coach. Indoor cat still feeling out hammock life. Live music: got to see @kenpomeroymusic at an intimate venue in DC before she inevitably gets huge because she is awesome; plus @johnmoreland @outerloopband @flowerbombband. More flowers. by @jsawyer330

April. Bikes and hikes in @rockcreeknps. @natsymphonydc doing Faure at @kennedycenter w @washingtonchorus. Boston trip that included a beautifully timed planned hang w/ my mama at the airport, VIP treatment by @adamgrossman at Fenway, excursions for hot pot, beaches, lighthouses, and fried fish with homeys Stella and Lui, and seeing @reachelissa and @handelandhaydn blow the roof off of Symphony Hall with a stunner of a Brahms Requiem. Neighborhood eats continue to elevate thanks to @cielorojomex and @muoitieutkpk (not pictured). And the dog days of summer are here even as spring is just springing. Feel lucky to see so many of my closest and most wonderful this month. by @jsawyer330

A few from March. Cherry blossoms 🌸 doing their thing all month. Green shoots in @rockcreeknps. Grateful for work I get to do including up on the hill partnering w/ @namicommunicate and @reevefoundation (nobody owns the conference 🎤 like @regina.blye). Visits with forever fam incl @the_bourne_empanada @evancjung @bouging. Live music check: DC’s own 🎸 hero @marytimony and band crushing at the @blackcatdc after @birthdaygirldc.official warmed up the crowd - a delightful mix of high schoolers and gen x’ers. Made some 🍞. Still just trying to live good like this sleepy window donut cat. Sending springtime love to all y’all. by @jsawyer330

February roundup. Quieter, around the house kind of month. For my birthday, I got COVID. But also a new record from @richie_duchon, a new hat, a @buddhaboard (big recommend for ephemeral doodling through zoom calls) and some next-level homemade key lime pie from @reachelissa. Culinary highlight #2, some delicious venison backstrap courtesy of @colombobarrett. Made it in to the office a bit including for some wall-sized strategic planning work, caught some beautiful winter rays coming into the house, as did the 🐈. Live-music-once-a-month New Years Resolution continued, seeing @hannahwicklund rock the house at @songbyrddc. Starting to feel spring-y out there and I’m not quite ready. But a good, quiet, cozy month and I’m happy to have put the ‘vid behind me, at least for the moment. taken in Takoma by @jsawyer330

Gonna try to post quick monthly roundups this year, mostly to remind myself of some of the good stuff I’m lucky to get into. After a rainy and too-warm December, we got to bask in the snow, from Colorado to New Mexico to a snowy hike in Virginia to right here in DC. Some great arts and culture too, from @okeeffemuseum to the @natsymphonydc. by @jsawyer330

Some behind the scenes Norway nostalgia a week later. Got to play fly on the wall to @museumoflight @gse and @reachelissa putting in work at @oceansoundrecordings and then join @robertculpeppersmith @ejalvare and @jenniaynlynn in harrowing Volvo trips to some of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.
