POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Celebrations of the ceasefire announcement from Amman last night.

“We will return, we will rebuild,” a man stopped his car to tell me.

There’s so much grief, so much pain, but there is also so much hope and so much love. We owe Gaza everything. taken in Amman, Jordan by @judetaha

Just about a week left for THE STORY WE BROKE crowdfunding campaign⚡

Coverage of Gaza has exposed, in real time, how corporate funding and institutional pressure shape what gets reported, who gets platformed, and who is credible. Palestinian journalists and voices have been systematically sidelined. Student reporters filled that gap, producing some of the most honest, rigorously documented work of the past two and a half years.

This film is a call to action for journalists to reckon with the responsibility of honest, community-centered reporting and for audiences to develop stronger media literacy. Support the team to bring this film across the finish line: bit.ly/storywebroke by @judetaha

Throwback to February, when Gaia & Jude were filming together in Amman, Jordan... a city that is home to both of them.

Fun fact: they actually went to the same summer camp as kids!

This photo was taken at Amman's beautiful Citadel, surrounded by centuries of history. Between filming, we hugged a lot, ate incredible mansaf, and found ourselves reflecting on everything that had happened since the Gaza Solidarity Encampment. At the time, it felt like things couldn't get any worse. Yet through it all, we've continued to show up for one another.

We're excited to share where this journey has taken us, and how our film builds on the lessons, relationships, and questions that emerged from the encampments. We have a few days of our crowdfunding campaign left; can you help us share this story with a friend today? 💞 by @judetaha

🎤AND WE’RE LIVE: The Story We Broke, directed by @g.r.c96 @judetaha is crowdfunding now!

When the institutions meant to inform become entangled with power, who gets to define the truth? Our film follows Jude Taha, a Palestinian-Jordanian journalist, during her time at Columbia University's J-School documenting the Gaza Solidarity Encampment from within, while fighting to be believed.

The film weaves between the encampment and present-day Amman, Jordan, where Jude now teaches journalism to a new generation of students — some of whom are from Gaza and have lived through what she once reported on from a distance. This is a reckoning with who gets to define truth, and a testament to what happens when young journalists refuse to let that question go unanswered.

We’ve generously received support from @pulitzercenter, Bertha Foundation, @insideoutfestival RE:Focus Fund, and Li Center, & are raising $30K to get across the finish line. ✨ Help us spread the word & donate at bit.ly/storywebroke (🔗 in bio!). ✨

My grandmother passed away a few days ago after over two decades of fighting cancer on her own terms. Joyfully, unabashedly, unrelenting to anyone or anything.

In her last months, even when she could no longer eat, she still made sure every person who walked through her door left full.

My teta ayoush was Palestinian-Syrian. She lived most of her life in Syria surrounded by family. She loved to feed maybe a bit more than she loved to cook. Due to circumstances, she didn’t see her sister for nearly 9 years. When said sister came to visit her a few months ago, she put her to work. She prepared jar and jar of مقدوس and شطة. She made her cook us teta’s favorite meals, even though teta couldn’t eat. That was her. She could not keep joy to herself even if she barely had much to give.

Teta died exactly two years after jido did. When we visited his grave a day before she passed, we told him to take care of her and laughed. I hope they are enjoying endless messy picnics and static-y radios together.

I haven’t been able to find the words to describe how massive losing her is. I do not know how to live a life I have never known without her. Everyday since has felt darker.

Missing you is such an immense privilege during a time in a world that is insistent on erasing people like us, like you. I pray for the day we get to mourn without borders, where war and genocide and oppression do not separate your funeral from the home you longed for in your last few days.

I love you so completely and miss you so much.

Gaza is being starved and every moment brings me closer to despair and hopelessness.

Every headline I read makes me want to leave this profession and this industry and never look back. This post is for my fellow journalists, in the face of horror, we are not mere observers—we are responsible.
