There is nothing quite like the feeling of waking up on a bare mattress on the floor and realizing… wow, this is actually ours.

We officially closed on a crisp, early fall day. The house was completely empty at first, but the beautiful chaos of move-in day started almost immediately.

I remember being so intentional about setting up the space. We specifically picked out and positioned our dining table and chairs so that we could still sit in our cozy little nook and look right past them to the mountain views.

Since that day, this house has completely transformed into the ultimate gathering spot. We’ve filled these rooms with friends, family, and so much laughter

My newest listing is basically a test of my own self-control!

Part 1 ended with a broken heart. We didn’t get the house. 💔

We told ourselves it wasn’t meant to be, and decided to start saving money for another place. We officially told our amazing landlord that we were giving up our upstate rental, and we broke the news to my in-laws that we wouldn’t have a place up there anymore (and would just be visiting them a lot more often!)

We had fully accepted it. We were moving on.

But literally TWO HOURS after we told my in-laws… my phone rang.

It was the listing agent.

The first offer fell through.

Then, the second offer fell through.

She said if we were willing to come up a bit on our price, the house was ours.

And we said yes!

Here we are today, so in love, so happy, and officially Upstate NY homeowners! ✨

I genuinely think our love letter helped keep us top of mind! Pro-tip for anyone getting ready to put in an offer for their dream home!

I always feel like crying when I get to this part of the story 😭❤️

My husband and I fell in love with Upstate NY during the pandemic. For five years, we rented from our amazing landlord (shoutout to Therese, who also ended up being our wedding officiant!), while occasionally going to open houses and dreaming about the day we’d finally have a place of our own.

Fast forward to August 2025. It had been a while since Alex and I had gone to an open house, and honestly, I wasn’t even checking Zillow that often anymore.

But one day, I got curious, and there it was! A beautiful home in Upstate NY.

Alex, I, and two of our friends went to the open house the following day. And I knew I was in trouble.

I was falling in love with this house.

The bright mudroom. The cozy little living room nook. The mountain views. Every little detail made me feel like I was already home.

We got pre-approved through the seller’s preferred lender, offered 15% over asking, and even included a love letter to the sellers telling them how much we genuinely loved their home and hoped to make it ours.

We submitted our offer on Tuesday.

And then…

We waited.

And waited. 😭

Two days later, we finally heard from the listing agent. We didn’t get the house. 💔

Ask a real estate broker what they keep in their bag...

For me, it’s multiple sets of keys, a laser tape measure, GFCI outlet tester, hand sanitizer, way too many band-aids for blisters, a Tide pen, Tiger Balm, an absurd amount of pens, two tinted lip balms, AirPods, eyeglasses, sunglasses, portable charger, wallet, notebook, water bottle, coffee thermos, a packed lunch, vitamins, AND show sheets...

I really pushed the limits of the real estate in my stomach on this day. 🤣

A few weeks ago, I brought a friend of mine to Chinatown! She had never been to Chinatown before, and we only made it to a handful of places before we were completely stuffed, but everything we tried was so incredibly affordable and ridiculously filling. There is really nothing like the food scene down there!!

If you’re planning your own Chinatown food crawl, always, always keep cash handy! A lot of the best hidden gems and bakery windows are cash-only.

It’s always so special when I get to host an evening for my wonderful friends and clients. ❤️

What makes it even more special is getting to share that evening in a place where, over 13 years ago, I used to sit and read without the faintest clue that one day I would dedicate myself to helping others find their homes.

Please accept this footage of me reporting for Eyewitness News in an English accent as proof that my career path was never going to be a straight line 🤣

Welcome to the final chapter of my origin story! This is the era where I packed up my life in the UK, moved across the ocean for NYU, and officially started my love affair with NYC!

Between these slides is a time capsule of my early 20s, my UK graduation, navigating NYU, and the translation business I launched right out of college before I stepped into the real estate world!

The original plan was actually to become a journalist. I majored in English at NYU, but by the time I graduated, I decided to change course.

Looking back, pivoting from a translation business to NYC real estate actually makes perfect sense. I just went from translating foreign languages to translating real estate language for my clients!!

20 years ago, me intensely staring at a laptop. Back then I was trying to finish my school assignments.

Today, basically the exact same posture, just putting together 500-page NYC Co-op board packages, reviewing leases, and running comps for my buyers. 🤣
