Outtake #2 The other week we took little trip to the seaside, in Kent. The girls wanted to go for a swim but I was little cautious and just asked that they take some extra precaution as we had heard reports of unsafe swimming water being reported around the Kent coast. Despite the wind and having just lost the sun they took a chance. Strange how empty the beach was despite some lovely outbreaks of sun. It is a beautiful coastline and we have many happy memories of swimming, wading and enjoying the sea. Is this what we will just call the “new normal”. Some background. Report from The Big Issue "Last week, MP’s faced public backlash against stemming raw sewage sills into rivers and the seas as part of the Environment Bill going through Parliament. The vote came just weeks after updated Environment Agency guide-lines gave polluters the green light to dump untreated sewage into waterways due to Brexit-related chemical shortages. England and Wales have some of the worst quality waterways in Europe, with data from earlier this year revealing that raw sewage was discharged more than 400,000 times during 2020. Bosses from England’s largest water suppliers have since claimed that they don't know exactly how much sewage is being dumped and could not commit to a pledge to stop until 2030. MP’s have since bowed to public pressure , pledging an extra amendment to the bill which will place a legal duty on water companies to reduce the sewage spillage." #saveourseas #surfers against sewage #englishcoast #wildswimming #wildswimminguk #lovebroadstairs by @justpassingclouds
"I’m enjoying this. It’s like confession!” Brian Cox's response to the interview not the photo shoot though that could have gone badly wrong. I started worrying when told that we would be let into Brians flat by his daughter and he would be coming straight from the airport. I imagined a trans Atlantic flight but things looked like improving when it turned out to be just Italy instead, so thats okay then? The temperature in London had soared to the mid 30’s and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Arriving as planned we were greeted by Brians very friendly daughter who then informed us that this was a brand new flat as the lease had ran out on his old one. Whilst filming “Succession” his art, furniture, books and clothes had been moved and today would be the first time her dad had seen the place. So thats alright then. Then she left ! So Brian emerged from a taxi looking flustered and hot , with heavy suitcase and rung the doorbell as he doesn’t even have a key. I let him and welcomed him into his new home and prayed that they paintings on the wall were hung to his liking and he wouldn’t be upset with my photography bags all over the sofas. I felt like an estate agent explaining where the bathroom was. He was surprisingly okay about it all but I could see the heat and flight had taken their toll and took the decision to say I would wait outside so he could rest for half an hour..a good decision it turned out as the flat was so busy with art hanging on nearly every spare inch of wall I had decided to shoot with the intense sunlight on the balcony , armed with a cloth flag and a frame with diffusion. The little rest had done it s work and Brian came out , enthused and fighting fit. What look like anger is in fact a jocular manner and an expressive manner. I was disappointed the mag wouldn’t consider my BW versions…so here they are . @succession was #successionhbo @guardian @observerdesign @guardiandesign #briancox #markkermode #succession @succession @succession.hbo #portraitphotography @obsnewreview @tony_bell_observer @weareflock thanks @emmapottinger by @justpassingclouds

@studiowaynemcgregor shot for the @obsmagazine It was out Sunday but waited for the dust to settle. The dance studio was almost too good a location as it offered so many beautiful angles and textures and when you add in the angles and poise of Wayne it completed the picture. Three to choose. Thanks. @kit_pic_editor by @justpassingclouds

Residential Photography Workshop Weekends with @philfisk and @peyo_alvarez 25th-27th June “Location Portrait Photography”. @thequadrangle_kent Having a whole month to work in Cuba the first thing I did for a week was to stop myself running around la Havana snapping cars and crumbling walls. To get a sense of a place and its people, to “acclimatise”, I like to sit and talk to people in public places first. Soon I felt the urge of the youth, probably like all youth around the world, to move on from the past. Definitely more in Cuba. Like all the stereotypes on Cuban culture, even with the country’s decades of political stagnation, the youth was well into their reggaeton leaving trova, rumba, son and salsa for tourists. #cuba #environmentalportrait #portrait #location #photography #workshops #experience #knowledge #creative #create #art #photographyeducation #justpassingclouds #locationphotography #portraiture #locationportrait #locationscouting #photographyworkshop with @philfisk and @peyo_alvarez #photographer #inspiration #editorial #photographersassistant #onlocation #PedroAlvarez #PhilFisk by @justpassingclouds
Photography workshops with @peyo_alvarez and @philfisk "Orisel" by Pedro Alvarez The restraints of a less powerful flash, than my usual big battery packs, made me have to get much closer to the subjects, to build a rapport and to gain their trust in order to achieve the sense of intimacy once I saw before introducing myself. Equipment undoubtedly determines certain approaches to your practice, however certain limitations shouldn’t be a hindrance to creativity. Photography workshops with @peyo_alvarez and @philfisk "Orisel" by Pedro Alvarez Having worked for years with large and/or medium format cameras and heavy lighting it was really refreshing to work within the constraint of very limited equipment in a month trip to Cuba. The government “highly discourages” professional photographers to document the country, so there is not bad press on their ruling ……. With that in mind I took the chance to “travel light” for once. A DSLR body, a pancake lens and a speedlight flash. Instead of organising each shoot, controlling each set up with lighting I was left a bit to serendipity while I was meeting and being introduced to people and places. So I presume it was an exercise on constant location scouting and casting. #cuba #environmentalportrait #portrait #location #photography #workshops #experience #knowledge #creative #create #art #photographyeducation #justpassingclouds #locationphotography #portraiture #locationportrait #locationscouting #photographyworkshop with @philfisk and @peyo_alvarez #photographer #inspiration #editorial #photographersassistant #onlocation #PedroAlvarez #PhilFisk by @justpassingclouds
