I was trying to find the right name for you in our lives, and went to searching a Thievery Corporation song in the meantime, because with so many things, music has been such a connection for us. I found the perfect title for you because yes, you are absolutely La Femme Parallel, you are my ADHD brain sister, although you don’t believe in ADHD, you fire my brain working faster than any of my other ADHD besties. You’ve called me out on absolutely everything from day one and loved and supported and been a Christian sister before I even knew where I belonged. We never know what’s going to happen when Auntie Heather comes to town, but it leads to nothing but an amazing time and will always inspire a last-minute trip, a last-minute visit, a last-minute career change, love you forever.šŸ–¤šŸ™ taken in The Shelborne By Proper by @karapayne_

Lord knows I can be a knucklehead. I can be stubborn, adamant in my own ways, get it wrong, and have to come right back to Him.

But I know who has me. I know where I come from, where I belong, and where I’m going.

Love has been written into my story for a long time—quite literally. I have the word love tattooed on my body in different languages, collected over different seasons of my life. Even before I knew Jesus, I knew I wanted to put more love into the world. I didn’t fully understand where that pull came from yet. I just knew there was something bigger than me, and somehow, I kept coming back to love.

And now I know the One who was calling me to it all along. šŸ¤

The more I return to His Word, the more I’m convicted by how simple—and how radical—what Jesus asks of us really is:

ā€œLove one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.ā€ — John 13:34

No one outside of that love.

I will never be perfect. None of us will. That’s kind of the whole point. We are all sinners, and through Jesus, redemption and salvation are offered to all of us. He made a way back to the Father that we could never make for ourselves.

So I’ll keep painting it, sharing it, bearing it in my skin, trying to live it, messing it up, repenting, and coming back to it again:

Love one another.

It really is the heart of everything. šŸ¤ by @karapayne_

I rarely know exactly what a painting will become when I begin.

There may be a vision. A palette. Something someone has asked for. An idea of where I think I’m going.

And then I start painting.

Some things belong. Some don’t.
Some layers become the foundation, and others have to disappear completely beneath something new.

And I think that’s part of why I love creating so much.

There is something deeply human about pouring yourself into something without knowing if it will remain the way you imagined it. About knowing when to keep building—and when to cover it all and begin again.

Burn it down.
Start it over.
Make something new from everything that was there before.

Eventually the painting becomes what it was meant to be. I release something of myself into it, and somehow, when it finds the person who sees themselves in it, they receive something back.

Maybe that is the quiet exchange of art.

We create because we need somewhere for all of it to go.

And sometimes someone else looks at what we made and realizes—

me too.

My Song Series transforms lyrics that have moved me into new visual art—taking another artist’s words and reimagining them through color, texture, and visual expression.

I truly believe that being made in our Creator’s image
means that we are all called to create in some way.
Maybe that’s painting or music, but maybe it’s poetry, literature, technology, building a business, teaching, designing, problem solving—whatever the gifts are that He has uniquely given you.

For me, the more I’ve stepped into creating and using what I’ve been given, the more alive I’ve felt. And even more beautifully, the more connection and community I’ve found through it.

There is something so powerful about all of us using our different gifts, bringing them out into the world, and then allowing those gifts to connect us, help people, love one another and create community.

Create what you were created to create.
Share it.
Let it inspire someone else.

And always let it reflect back to the One who gave it to you. šŸ¤ by @karapayne_

This piece came together in a way I never could have planned.

I have shared about the notebook I kept outside where I paint — filled with scriptures I had collected over time. Words that had spoken to me, things I wanted to remember, and verses I knew I wanted to someday work into my art.

That space normally stays completely dry, but our balconies were to me unexpectedly power washed, and my notebook was soaked. So much of what I had written simply disappeared.

At the time, I remember thinking… now what? All of those words I had gathered as my relationship with the Lord was growing felt lost, and I would somehow have to begin again.

But some words remained.

Later, while working on my song series, I started using gesso to work actual pages and pieces of writing into my canvases. And somewhere in that process, I realized what I wanted to do with these damaged scripture pages.

They became part of the art.

I layered them into this canvas — faded words, fragments of scripture, all of it — and eventually the final words came:

ā€œI have seen the One who sees me.ā€
Genesis 16:13

I love this scripture so much.

There is something about looking at those pages now — words gathered while on my journey to continually know Him more, then seemingly lost, and finally becoming part of something completely new.

He had been seeing me all along.

And through this journey of growing closer to Him, I am learning to see Him too.

What I thought was lost became part of the story. And somehow, this piece brought all of it together. šŸ¤ by @karapayne_

This is the unknown part.

The beginning stages of creating, when it’s still just a blank canvas and I’m choosing colors, building a palette, and putting paint down without completely knowing yet what each canvas will become.

There’s so much freedom in this part.

My acrylic backgrounds have become almost an abstract expression of their own. It’s less about the finished piece and more about the release of actually putting paint on canvas—layer upon layer, changing something if it doesn’t feel right, adding more, covering parts, letting the colors build until the background finally feels like it’s where it needs to be.

And then I begin to see what will live there.

I have so many finished visions already in my mind—scriptures I want to share, songs that have inspired pieces, colors and ideas that I can already see. But before the conceptual vision becomes the finished piece, there’s this much more instinctive part of creating.

The freedom of expression first. The vision finding its place after.

I think that space between the two has become one of my favorite parts of the process—the not knowing yet, the release, and then watching something I’ve carried in my mind slowly find its way onto the canvas.

A little rain date update from the ranch…

Florida summer had other plans for us last weekend, so our evening @wildpalmranch has been moved to Saturday, September 5th from 6–8 PM.

Maybe it’s a little reminder that sometimes we’re meant to slow down, shift our plans, and meet again another day. šŸ¤

So we will gather again — under the open sky, surrounded by horses, paintbrushes in hand, for an evening of creativity, connection, and community with other women.

A few hours to step away from the noise.
To paint without worrying about the outcome.
To breathe a little deeper.
To enjoy the quiet energy of the horses.
And to simply be together.

NEW DATE: Saturday, September 5 | 6–8 PM
The Wild Palm Ranch
14830 Smith Sundy Rd., Delray Beach, FL 33446
•All materials included

I’ll also have Love Brand pieces and a selection of my original artwork available for purchase that evening.

If you couldn’t make our original date, maybe this one was meant for you. šŸ¤

Sign up through the link in my bio or the link in my stories.

Can’t wait to spend this evening together. ✨ by @karapayne_
