I’m proud to share that I’ve officially become a member of The Links, Incorporated, Lake Shore (IL) Chapter. This moment means so much to me, not just because of the legacy and service this organization represents, but because of the incredible people who helped guide me here.

A heartfelt thank you to my rock, Leslie Fair Clay. Thank you does not begin to cover it. Your steady support made all the difference. I’m also deeply grateful for the love and guidance from my sisters in service, Erika Harrison (cousin), Donna Simpson Leak (Vice President of the Lake Shore (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated), Sheila R. Brown (Central Area Director of The Links, Incorporated), Karen Comer, Natalie Moore and Samantha Chatman. I am so proud to stand beside you all in this work.

Special appreciation to Adrienne Brooks, Adrienne Samuels Gibbs, Art Sims and Traci Williams-Cheers. Your encouragement and love carried me through. Thank you for showing up for me in ways I will never forget.

And to the ones who walked this journey right beside me, I truly wouldn’t have wanted to do this without you. Yvonne Blake Brown, Ernita Cooper and Ashli Nelson, you are simply the best. Thank you for the laughs, the check-ins, the honest moments and the sisterhood.

The voting period has begun for the organization's next President, VP-Broadcast, VP-Digital, Secretary, Region I, Region III and Student Representative.

As the Immediate Past VP-Print (2020-2024), I know that accountability and transparency was lacking in the organization despite repeated demands from "inside the house" to do better for the membership. Vision to move the organization forward was also minimal and suggestions fell on deaf ears. Too many choices were made in the name of "the board" but that wasn't the case.

Refresh your memory with the statement the current VP-Digital made at the Aug. 4, 2024 board meeting. It reads in part: "Lastly, the cohesion and unity between the board and president were not there, and quite honestly, hasn’t been there for quite some time. For me and to the outside public, it seems this organization is being run by the ED [executive director] and president, as they were both seemingly in constant communication whilst a majority of the board — including executive members — were left annoyingly confused and in the dark about what was happening in an organization we give so much time and energy to. It was unfair to the board as a whole, but especially first time board members who are attending their first convention. "

I know that Errin Haines is the ONLY CHOICE for PRESIDENT to lead the organization into its next 50 years.

Errin previously served the organization with distinction as VP-Print; active member in several chapters throughout her career; a leader in her home chapter (Atlanta); co-founder of the YBJ Task Force; and Black Press alum and advocate.

Errin knows board governance, as evident from her NABJ service and service on other boards, including Lenfest Institute. And as the co-founder of The 19th*, she's helped raise MILLIONS for the nonprofit newsroom.

Errin knows NABJ's finances, and not just the 2023 990 that's been consistently brought up without context and letting members know those aren't NABJ's current financials. She knows the financial state the organization is in, how we got to this point and how we'll rebound under her leadership and become a "Healthy NABJ."
