Five years strong—and we are still building!

The fifth annual The BlackPRint Chicago Campaign Press Conference & Networking Breakfast brought together business owners, creatives, entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, freelancers, elected officials, and community leaders for a morning of real conversation, new connections, and meaningful collaboration during National Black Business Month every August.

This year’s theme, “Businesses Supporting Black Women. Communities Supporting Local Businesses,” reminded us that authentic community is built when we purchase from one another, share opportunities, make introductions, and invest in the people doing the work.

Thank you to State Rep. La Shawn K. Ford, The Support Group, Bright Leadership Institute and everyone who helped make this year’s gathering meaningful. A very special thank you to everyone who attended.

If you missed it, make plans to join us in 2027! Email info@withaneyepr.com to receive an invitation and join our newsletter for information about upcoming events for the culture and beyond.

Follow and tag @withaneyepr as we continue building businesses, relationships and authentic community.

My 30th NABJ was an epic one in Atlanta. I sat in on two panels, reconnected with friends and we partied with a purpose at the 21st @nabjsports scholarship jam. Now on to Houston.

From a high school “Radio on TV” program to working inside two major Chicago newsrooms, my love for this industry runs deep.

Today, as I lead communications for Brown Farmer Media Group, that same childhood spark drives my mission every day.

Being in Atlanta for NABJ2026 reminded me of the weight we carry. Representation isn’t just about being in the room……it’s about ownership. We must continue to amplify Black voices, authentically told by Black voices.

To my media family: How are you using your platform to elevate our stories this year? Let’s connect in the comments.

Community Call to Support Je’ Wesley Day

You are invited to stand in solidarity with Je’ Wesley Day as he seeks justice and strength during an incredibly difficult moment.

On November 20, 2018, Je’ Wesley Day was brutally beaten into a coma. After years of waiting, the criminal trial for two of the assailants—Charles Huggins and William Nashon Scott—now begins. As Je’ Wesley is required to relive this traumatic experience in court, your presence can provide powerful encouragement, dignity, and moral support.

Trial Details
🗓 Date: Tuesday, December 9, 2025
⏰ Time: 9:00 AM
📍 Location: Fulton County Courthouse
136 Pryor Street SW
Atlanta, GA 30303
Floor: 5
Courtroom: 5E
⚖️ Presiding Judge: The Honorable Craig Schwall

We ask members of the community to please come out, sit in the courtroom, and uplift Je’ Wesley with your presence. Justice is not only a legal process—it is a human one, and no one should have to face it alone.

Your support matters more than words can express. @lalaguana @iamlapink @jasonesteves @jasonwinston @jasonsdozier @byronjamal @byronamos @michaeljulianbond @delta @sylvesterbaptistbouldercrest @andreforatlanta @mattwestmoreland @marybnorwood @marcioverstreet @andreaboonenow @raphaelwarnock @fulcoclerk @fultoncountyda @fulcosg @fultonsolicitorgeneral @atlsolicitor @communitymovementbuilders @spelmannaacp @naacpdekalb @naacp_gsu @georgia_naacp @rashanali @nationalsclc @aclu_nationwide @acluofga @spotonrw @discoveratlanta

What an incredible week at the United We Thrive Illinois State Black Chamber of Commerce Conference.

First and foremost, I want to thank Larry Ivory for his steadfast leadership. His vision and commitment to Black businesses is not just powerful……it’s necessary. VERY necessary. EXTREMELY necessary. As the daughter of a proud immigrant father from Barbados who lived and breathed entrepreneurship, I know firsthand that legacy and opportunity are built when leaders create space for Black-owned businesses to thrive.

The panels were nothing short of transformative:
AI — sparking conversations about the future of innovation.
Media — amplifying the stories that matter and leveraging Black media.
CEOs — sharing the lessons of building and scaling with purpose.
Procurement — opening real pathways to contracts and equity.
Global- doing business in Africa.
Mayors’- how Black mayors help Black businesses.

And then there was the unforgettable 72-hour day session led by Dr. Jeffrey Sterling… a reminder of the grind, the resilience, and the brilliance that exists within our community.

All of this took place at the beautiful Wind Creek Casino Chicago Southland, a fitting backdrop to dream, strategize, and mobilize.

Supporting Black-owned businesses isn’t just an economic imperative, it’s a cultural one. It’s about making sure the next generation has a runway that’s longer, stronger, and freer of unnecessary barriers.

I left this conference re-energized and ready to keep doing the work to build bridges, tell stories that elevate, and push for opportunities that put us all in positions to win.

BIGGEST shout outs to my Day 1s for showing up and supporting in a MAJOR WAY !!

Here’s to thriving, together.
