“The story is the human side of journalism. I like the counter-AI-ness of your business.”

Real human connection in a sea of AI slop. That’s the mantra we’re leaning into in 2026, and it resonated with judges in the Pepperdine Most Fundable Companies competition.

Out of 2,100 companies, we made it through two extensive written application rounds and three video interviews to make the top 80 companies on this prestigious list.

Though we didn’t come out on top this year, it was an incredible process to go through, filled with tremendous growth for us as business owners. In a program filled with niche AI-focused companies, we were up against steep competition.

@oglegrams and I did not dream of being tech founders. We ended up here discovering a problem and creating a way to address it, with the goal of helping PR pros and journalists across the country. The learning curve here has been filled with many lows, misunderstandings, missteps and frustrating moments. But through them all, we’ve gained experience and knowledge, and are excited to keep moving forward with this wind on our backs.

These two little kids have come a long way, baby, and we’re just getting started. Now tell us: What wild and crazy dream are you chasing right now? by @kbogletree

I worked with an editor at Better Homes & Gardens on many food roundups during the pandemic, but hadn’t written for the brand in some time. This spring, I was delighted when she reached out to reconnect in a new role for the magazine — and gave me my first-ever print assignment for BH&G: a feature on how to get better sleep.

This was a perfect example that in the media business, relationships truly create opportunities, exactly the message we talk about daily in @joinpitchcraft.

It was really fun to put on my reporting hat again, and coming out of my sleep-deprived postpartum months, I took a lot of my sources’ tips to heart.

One of my favorites: Stop obsessing over your nightly sleep score on your fitness tracker (a phenomenon known as orthosomnia). It’s less accurate than you might think, and can negatively impact your day if you received a “poor” score. Focus on how your body feels instead.

The University of North Alabama will play its first on-campus football game in its history tomorrow, and what a treat to see the stadium for the first time tonight. This song was playing when we walked in, and magic was truly in the air.

I didn’t go to UNA, but had tears in my eyes walking in and experiencing the majesty of this place. To have a stadium like this just steps from downtown is such a gift. Thank you to all who were involved in bringing this vision to life (tagging my dear friends @dianabtaylorrealtor and @fowler.mrs for their hard work tonight too!). Florence is so lucky to have this!

2026 has brought a lot of grief and loss, but I’m realizing that a meaningful life is not made up of the big moments; it’s all the little ones added together. That’s what really makes it worth living.

We’re building a tech platform. We have a big vision for how we can help to make the media industry sustainable.

But it is, and always been, much more than that.

It’s about celebrating the good people, the strong relationships, the growing friendships, the worthwhile stories that make you smile, think or change your mind.

It’s about showing up for each other, day after day, even when it’s not easy or convenient.

It’s about having the hard conversations so we can break through to a new level of understanding and unlock future changes.

It’s about having dreamy goals, but enjoying the real work, day in and day out, and finding pockets of joy on your path to get there.

Simplicity, presence and connection are what my 5-year plan is all about. Tell me one of yours! by @kbogletree

Social media is really good at showing us the wins: the big byline, the dream assignment, the glamorous press trip, the exciting opportunity.

But for every win, there are plenty of things that didn’t quite go according to plan.

So, in the spirit of keeping it real, @kbogletree is sharing a few of her recent flops — because sometimes things fall through and great ideas simply don’t work out.

Now it’s your turn: What’s one of your recent flops? Share it below so we can all feel a little less alone in the messy middle. 💜 by @kbogletree

A few blocks from where I live in Florence, Alabama, Clyde W. Anderson started a newsstand selling local newspapers from the hometowns of workers from around the country who were building Wilson Dam. The year was 1917, the same year as my home was built.

That little newsstand would evolve into @booksamillion, the family-owned chain of bookstores that now has more than 250 stores nationwide.

When I heard @goodgritmag was producing a Storytellers issue, I knew a piece about Florence would fit in so well editorially. To my delight, editors @sarahcaitsawyer and @lk_whitney agreed, and commissioned me the story.

Last night, we held a launch party at @the_carriage in downtown Florence celebrating the release of the fall issue (cover star: @landontalks!) and honoring a few people profiled in the piece: @robertrausch, @alabamachaninlife and Billy Ray Warren.

Speical thanks to all who joined us in the triple-digit heat, including Good Grit founder @honestly_laura_, and to each of the Florence locals who are carrying on our city’s rich storytelling tradition.

In case you missed it: You can pick up a copy of Good Grit at Publix, or read the story at the link in my bio! taken in Florence, Alabama by @kbogletree

I might make a LinkedIn post about the topic… but forever a @medillschool trained journalist, I’ll never reveal my true sources who’ve told me things off the record 😉

Over the last five years, I’ve interviewed more than 350 journalists about their storytelling preferences, how to effectively work with them, and where the media industry is headed. These conversations are pure gold and the fuel behind Pitchcraft, which is shifting from PR platform to trust layer of the media ecosystem.

We believe transparency and open communication are paramount — but don’t mind some candid, protected conversations about what’s really happening. What’s something you’re seeing in lifestyle media that should be discussed more? by @kbogletree

Talk to her at a party, and you’ll probably leave with a new idea for a company 😉

As a freelance journalist in 2020, our co-founder @kbogletree saw a big gap in transparency between PR teams and writers. She launched a newsletter called “Long-Term Relationship,” then a virtual event series to begin conversations about how both sides could work better together. That evolved into Pitchcraft in 2021, and five-plus years later, the need for a space like this has never been greater. And, she’s just getting started.
