These sentiments were just a handful of the comments coming through live and through the chatbox following our second Pitchcraft Phone Experiment, which took place last week.

We thoughtfully paired up journalists and PR professionals within our community based on shared personal interests and overlapping coverage/client topics. At noon, we all hopped onto a Zoom call, then went on mute and turned off cameras while everyone made their phone calls. Twenty minutes later, we came back together to talk takeaways — and the overall sentiment in the virtual room was downright jovial.

This small little experiment just reinforces what we’ve known within Pitchcraft all along: Human connection is truly everything. Not only does it make our jobs and careers better, it also improves the quality of our days. That’s something worth celebrating.

Interested in joining us for our next phone experiment? Drop a ☎️ below.

TRUST CANNOT BE ASSUMED. IT MUST BE EARNED.

We are living in an age where artificial intelligence, online content, health claims, and digital misinformation can influence decisions within seconds.

The challenge is no longer simply finding information. The challenge is determining what deserves our trust.

That is why I created the TRUST AI IQ™ app, now available for iOS on the Apple App Store.

TRUST AI IQ™ provides individuals and organizations with a structured way to:

🔍 Assess the trustworthiness of information
🧠 Analyze potential AI risks
📊 Identify gaps in evidence, transparency, and credibility
🏢 Generate organizational trust reports
✅ Make more informed and responsible decisions

TRUST AI IQ™ transforms trust from a feeling into a measurable process.

As artificial intelligence becomes more powerful, trust must become more intentional. We cannot build the future of AI around capability alone. We must also prioritize safety, transparency, accountability, and human judgment.

Measure. Detect. Build.

Download TRUST AI IQ™ from the Apple App Store and begin evaluating information with greater confidence.

“The story is the human side of journalism. I like the counter-AI-ness of your business.”

Real human connection in a sea of AI slop. That’s the mantra we’re leaning into in 2026, and it resonated with judges in the Pepperdine Most Fundable Companies competition.

Out of 2,100 companies, we made it through two extensive written application rounds and three video interviews to make the top 80 companies on this prestigious list.

Though we didn’t come out on top this year, it was an incredible process to go through, filled with tremendous growth for us as business owners. In a program filled with niche AI-focused companies, we were up against steep competition.

@oglegrams and I did not dream of being tech founders. We ended up here discovering a problem and creating a way to address it, with the goal of helping PR pros and journalists across the country. The learning curve here has been filled with many lows, misunderstandings, missteps and frustrating moments. But through them all, we’ve gained experience and knowledge, and are excited to keep moving forward with this wind on our backs.

These two little kids have come a long way, baby, and we’re just getting started. Now tell us: What wild and crazy dream are you chasing right now?

2026 has brought a lot of grief and loss, but I’m realizing that a meaningful life is not made up of the big moments; it’s all the little ones added together. That’s what really makes it worth living.

We’re building a tech platform. We have a big vision for how we can help to make the media industry sustainable.

But it is, and always been, much more than that.

It’s about celebrating the good people, the strong relationships, the growing friendships, the worthwhile stories that make you smile, think or change your mind.

It’s about showing up for each other, day after day, even when it’s not easy or convenient.

It’s about having the hard conversations so we can break through to a new level of understanding and unlock future changes.

It’s about having dreamy goals, but enjoying the real work, day in and day out, and finding pockets of joy on your path to get there.

Simplicity, presence and connection are what my 5-year plan is all about. Tell me one of yours!

Social media is really good at showing us the wins: the big byline, the dream assignment, the glamorous press trip, the exciting opportunity.

But for every win, there are plenty of things that didn’t quite go according to plan.

So, in the spirit of keeping it real, @kbogletree is sharing a few of her recent flops — because sometimes things fall through and great ideas simply don’t work out.

Now it’s your turn: What’s one of your recent flops? Share it below so we can all feel a little less alone in the messy middle. 💜

Freelance journalists, consider this your back-to-school reset. ✏️

September may be an even better time for a fresh start than January—and before the holiday rush begins, it’s a smart moment to reset your routines, sharpen your visibility and create new opportunities for your freelance business.

Swipe for six practical ways to do it, from rethinking your social media strategy and exploring Substack to finding stronger story ideas closer to home.

The goal isn’t to overhaul everything at once. Choose one move that could meaningfully change your fall and start there.

And if you’re looking for more genuine relationships with PR pros and fellow journalists, apply to join Pitchcraft. It’s free for qualified journalists, and September includes a live conversation about negotiating better freelance rates plus our signature Story Café pitching event.

Which reset are you committing to this fall?

In GOOD company 🤗
Lord knows I love a good mail day — when the postman delivers the fresh magazines, with one of my stories tucked inside (this one on Key West) - but you know what makes me happier? Seeing the company I keep.

What a joy to flip through the pages of @goodgritmag and spy bylines from so many fellow creatives I have the privilege of knowing IRL:
@dariarosesmith @nicolemelv @kbogletree @jimbeaugez @onebravemagnolia @jenniferkornegay @erinaustenabbott @marycfehr

This issue - with @landontalks on the cover — is dedicated to Southern Storytellers. So yeah, I’m in damn GOOD company with this one🤜🏻✨🤛🏻

Y’all go pick up a copy; you’ve got some reading to do.
