July is Parks and Recreation Month 🌳🌿🏃

This month, we're celebrating the @nrpa "Power of Parks" — the spaces that bring our community together, inspire healthy lifestyles, create lasting memories, and provide opportunities for everyone to thrive.

⭐ Which is why youth ages 17 and under can receive a FREE annual membership to our Community Centers through the Youth Annual Membership Scholarship Program. Our 10 Community Centers provide access to safe spaces that allow for our youth to play, learn, and explore.

As of today, our youth can access our amazing Community Centers with lower barriers than ever - and that, friends, is the power of parks 💚

The scholarship does NOT apply to programs, only membership fees. Must meet eligibility requirements. Learn more here: https://kcparks.org/membership/

🎉KC Parks is proud to be recognized by the Missouri House of Representatives for the restoration of the International Flag Murals at 9th Street & Van Brunt Boulevard!

💚A huge thank you to our KC Parks Ambassadors led by Kelly Turner and Brookelle Connett, the 272 volunteers, community partners, city staff, and @repwick who contributed 1,127 hours to restore and expand this iconic Northeast landmark.

👻 Get in ghoul, we’re going to Ghouls Night Out this Friday at Westport-Roanoke Community Center!

Families can safely trick or treat along the trail, show off their costumes in the parade, play gruesome games, and enter the Ghoul House if they dare. Activities include a face painting, bobbing for pumpkins, pumpkin painting, and more! All activities are free except for the Ghoul House. The Ghoul House is $5/person.

Bring your costume from last year and SWAP it for a new one at our Costume Swap! Costumes must be gently used and wearable to exchange.

6-8 p.m. | Free activities and Ghoul House/ Treats/ Games/ Costume Parade

Come early to Ghouls Night Out for a 5:30 RIBBON CUTTING at the HILL SLIDE. We’re celebrating the great recent improvements: Hill Slide! Water Play Feature! New Sidewalks, and Erosion Fixes! Bat Friendly Cave Gate! Plus a restored water fountain, new bench and entry columns.

After the Ribbon Cutting, Join us, @kcmoparks and many others for the spookiest event of the year, Ghouls Night Out, on Friday, October 16 from 6-8 PM at Westport-Roanoke Community Center! 🍁It was lovely weather and company at our first Walktober of the season! We had lots of familiar faces adding to their Walktober pin collection and welcomed new walkers thanks to @kcsocialwalkclub!
