They say your 20s are for learning and your 30s are for building.

I’ve spent the last decade chasing every “peak” I could find. From growing up in European schools to the grit of Joburg in South Africa 🇿🇦

I’ve sat front row at Fashion Week, made music for global ads, styled major celebrities and hit the international award platforms for my original work.

But lately, the city noise just wasn’t hitting the same. I realized I didn’t want to just be in the room anymore—I wanted to build the house.

So, I’m 29 and I’m making the pivot. I’ve moved back home to the rural Northwest to be closer to family and to build something with real roots. With everything happening in SA right now—from BRICS to the G20—there has never been a more critical time for local intelligence and venture building. I’m putting all my energy into:
🚀 @reconnected_ventures (Venture Building)
📊 @reconnected_group (Research & Intelligence)
💡 @bokone_foundation (Economic Empowerment)
I’m documenting the chaos of building this legacy from the ground up.
Welcome to the Reconnected era. Let’s get to work. 🇿🇦 by @kebidoo_

I don't always know how to process grief. I've been fortunate that most of the people I've lost have lived long, full lives. But the passing of my Rakgadi (great-great aunt) affectionately known as Mamotsweni 🐒, feels different.

When I first moved back home to Mahikeng, I often felt lost and out of place. I spent many afternoons sitting on her stoep, talking about life, family, work, and the world. She reminded me of the power of your own hands, your own effort, and your own ability to create something from nothing, especially when life has disappointed you or failed to deliver on its promises.

She taught me how to make things from scratch. In many ways, she is the reason this hobby page exists. She encouraged me to find joy and dignity in creating, building, growing, and learning for myself.

She also encouraged me to spend more time with my father. Through her eyes, he was still her little boy. Watching him with her, seeing that vulnerability and love, touched me deeply. It reminded me that no matter how old we become, there are some relationships that never stop shaping us.

Thank you, Mamotsweni 🐒 for being a wonderful sister and aunt when my father needed you. Thank you for being a grandmother when we needed you. Thank you for loving our family and creating a safe space for 3 generations to gather, learn, and belong. 🕊️

You will be remembered as someone who empowered us to build with our own hands, to start from scratch when necessary, and to live beyond the limitations placed before us. 💐

👵🏾🌾🐄

My grandmother (on my mother’s side) lives in a somewhat remote village, about 40 minutes from the border between South Africa 🇿🇦 and Botswana 🇧🇼

There’s barely any cell or internet fibre service. There’s no tar surface on the road. And no mall or shopping center within 10km. But it’s the most tight knit community. Everyone knows eachother. Everyone shares what they can and contributes to how the village works. Every time I visit her, it’s the ultimate off grid experience.

At 87 years old, she is still such a charismatic and thoughtful woman. We talk about everything from politics to fashion. Her perspective is always so grounding. Her words are always encouraging.

Days like today I’m grateful to be a random Tswana girl from a village in the middle of nowhere, full of love and light. 🧬✨ by @kebidoo_

🍖♨️

God knew exactly what he meant when he gave us sheep. The concept of the taste of lamb is damn near divine.

I love living near family and in a community of generous neighbours. They’ll randomly drop by with a little surprise that suddenly makes life a lot easier to deal with. by @kebidoo_
