As an actor I’ve learned again and again that rejection is simply redirection. No matter how right something feels and how desperately you want it, everything isn’t meant for you. The rejection is there to set you on the right path and point you towards what is truly yours. Here’s a compilation of a few projects that were meant for me. And I am a better person, actor, and collaborator thanks to the people I got to work with to bring them to life ❤️ To my fellow actors and artists: stay strong and keep focused on what brings you the most joy. Something really wonderful is just around the corner. #womeninfilm #indiefilmmaking #actingreel #demoreel by @kelseycorbin
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the power of words. The ones we choose to use. To write. To speak. To define. And the ones we don’t... The ones that bubble to the surface and burst into being without our conscious recognition – carrying far more depth and significance than we realize. Invisible snapshots into our psyches we don’t often see, but always feel. We discover meaning through language. And perhaps one of the most significant forms of language is found in the names we are given and the ones we choose. Corbin is my birth name. And to me those six letters mean family, history, geography, home. They signify who and where I came from, and if I’m being honest, aspects of myself I’ve forgotten. Neglected. Missed. To consciously come back to this name - to choose it - feels like a heartening homecoming. An honoring of the people and places who made me, and a promise of possibility to the version of myself who brought me to where I am today. All that to say, let me re-introduce myself: Hello, I am Kelsey Lynn Corbin. by @kelseycorbin
It’s been 30 days since wrapping principle photography on the feature film BLOOD WINE and still, I feel this mountain of impossibility when attempting to describe the experience. Brevity has never been my brilliance, but here it goes... During the month of May I lived on a vineyard in Sonoma County while making a horror film with some of the most amazing humans (and dogs) I’ve ever met. Ample blood, sweat, tears, and bruises were to be expected, but the journey provided far more than I could have ever imagined. To me, the experience of filming Blood Wine meant breaking past imagined barriers and self-imposed glass ceilings. It meant expansion, growth, and learning to lead — belief in what I have to offer and the gift of unwavering support from those who see it. It meant taking it to the chin and smiling through the pain. It meant deep trust, true collaboration, unexpected healing and so *so* much gratitude. It meant rivers, hot tubs, impromptu singalongs, 6am dance parties and 7am fire station pancake breakfasts. It meant staying up to catch the sunrise more times than I can count and never wanting to go to bed because the company was simply that good. It meant making new lifelong-friends and meeting friends that feel lifetimes old. It meant growing into who I’ve always been and getting closer to who I’ve always hoped to be. Thank you to @petestringfellow, @jarednwright and @ericmivey for inviting me along on this journey. So much love and gratitude to you all. xoxo, Kels #bloodwinemovie #indiefilm #horrorfilm #justice4chase by @kelseycorbin
Come see THE BEARD on the big screen - and hang with our amazing team LIVE in Hollywood - this Saturday afternoon at the wonderful City of Angels Film Fest! 🤍😊🙌 Saturday 10/24 1pm Tickets : @cityofangelsfilmfestival Or at the door - Eastwood Performing Arts Center: 1089 North Oxford Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90029 by @kelseycorbin
Two years ago I was in a Lifetime movie about speaking truth to power. A story about women standing up to abusive men and the systems that protect and exalt them. If you know me, you know I find these themes wildly important. Resonating deeply on a personal level from experiences collected at a young age. So it feels fitting that this small little Lifetime film is being released on Netflix today. And that this particular storyline will forever be my first introduction to a major streamer. Thank you to @thejoshuabutler and @stellanovacasting for inviting me to be a part of this project. To @thewayneagency for helping me get there. And to @nataliepolisson for being such a giving and talented (scene) partner in crime. Also, @danieloreillyspage you are deliciously evil in this, thank you for being our villain. by @kelseycorbin
Saturday was a really good day 🥰 The Beard screened at @calabasasfilmfest in the @awd_directors block and won the Audience Award! The collection of films in this block were incredibly brilliant and funny and scary and heartening. All made by wildly talented female directors who are a part of an organization (AWD) I love so much. It was a shock and an honor for our film to be selected by a group of strangers and soon-to-be friends, in a room where we knew no one. And it’s something I’m holding close to my heart. In a season of my life where I feel so far from my creative self, it was a joy to be reminded that I’m on the right path. With so, so many, of the right people. @nate.raven and @rick_raven I’m forever grateful you trusted me to come alongside you and support the creation of this powerful and poignant piece. Its story is more important now than ever and its themes continue to resonate with audiences everywhere we go. And a huge congrats and shoutout to the entire Beard team! Your work on this was beautiful. Sensitive and delicate and daring, and audiences are taking note. by @kelseycorbin

I am over the moon to share that The Beard is having its West Coast Premiere at the iconic Oscar Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival next month. To share this film, made by this team, at this festival, during such a poignant time in history feels like such a profound alignment. @hollyshorts is the first festival that ever took a chance on me as a director—offering a lil nod of encouragement to keep creating when they premiered my first short back in 2020. Fast forward to now: I couldn’t be happier to be screening here again. A perfect place to celebrate the incredible cast and crew who brought this important film to life. We hope you’ll join us. More to come from this joyous team very soon, but for now: we’re feeling a whole lot of gratitude. The Beard, a queer political thriller I had the absolute privilege of directing, is having its World Premiere at @newfacesnewvoices in New York on June 23. There is so much I want to share about this film and what it means to me, but first I want to acknowledge the wonderfully talented humans who brought this film into being.  Together, with their artistic generosity, we created a piece of empathic truth-telling and artistic activism at a time when LGBTQ+ rights are increasingly under attack. Making this story with this team, at this moment in time – witnessing the degree of care, vulnerability and heart they all brought to the table – was a deeply meaningful experience for Nate, Rick and myself.  Our gratitude cannot be understated.  We invite you to join us in New York as we kick off our festival run on Tuesday, June 23 at 8:45pm.  Link to tickets in bio. — Director: @kelseycorbin Writer: @nate.raven Executive Producer: @rick_raven Cinematographer: @ludovicaisidori Production Designer: @hfmsceneshopinc Film Composer: @tylerfordham Cast: Tyler: @nate.raven

I am overflowing with gratitude to finally share this project in its full and final form. Being accepted as a participant in the Alliance of Women Directors’ 24/25 Directing the Actor Lab was truly a game changer for me. As an overeager student soaking up every moment of class, to say I looked forward to learning from the esteemed Jennifer Warren and being pushed towards growth by my talented classmates every month, is a gross understatement.  It wasn’t school, it was church. Full of community, connection, and spiritual growth.  All that to say, thank you AWD for taking a chance on me and inviting me to learn and grow through your guidance. I am deeply inspired by your encouragement and support to continue this work I love so very much. And a huge thank you to my phenomenal cast, Emily and Lee, who were truly a joy to collaborate with in every way. You’ll be seeing more of them, for that I am certain 💫 And finally, thank you to my amazingly talented and generous crew who are the only reason this project got off the ground and looks and sounds the way it does. You guys make me look good. Thank you endlessly for that ❤️ Happy watching. Oh wait! One more thing:  If you’re feeling fancy // motivated – film was never meant to live inside of a 3’’ x 6’’ screen so, for your large(er) screen viewing pleasure, I’ve posted this to YouTube as well.
