The adventure begins! The Dungeons and Book Dragons Readathon, hosted by @ivythegeekgoddess, has started and we’ve received our first main quest! 🐉🎲 Every journey into the Underworld begins with a crossing. To leave the mortal world behind, the teams must first prove we’re willing to venture beyond what is familiar. We’ve been tasked by the Fates to read a book that challenges us in some way! Fantasy is a genre that alludes Ares, so she’ll be reading “Blackheart Man” by Nalo Hopkinson. (+200XP) 🖤 Once we’ve finished our main quest we may move on to our side quests which we have to roll a d8 to reveal what that may be. To prep, Ares already rolled and received a 1 and had to pay the ferryman for passage, which means she’ll need to read a book with a valuable item on the front such as gold, jewelry, coins, etc. She took this literally and chose a novel with gold foiling on its cover, “Survivor” by Chuck Palahniuk. (+100XP) 🖤 Oathkeepers unlocked level one this morning with the “Hunter’s Mark” card so we will be able to add +50XP to any book we submit along with our team bonuses! 🖤 If you missed my announcement, I’m cohosting this readathon all month and I’ve been assigned the character Ares, the Greek god of war and courage! Yes, I drew my character and built her out best I could as a D&D newbie so give me grace. 😅 I’m excited to nerd out all month with some book friends! (all are tagged so run up the follows!) by @kelssweetie
I hope y’all had a magical Halloween! 🎃 Y’all know I love a recap and for my most favorite time of year, you know y’all were gonna get a post for the “end” of spooky season! Another EEK! Halloween party is in the books! It’s always so amazing seeing so many of our friends from different parts of our life get together for a night and really lean into the childish fun of the holiday. Being an adult all year is hard enough, WE DESERVE at least one night off. Lol. Everyone’s costumes last night were probably the best in the five years we’ve been doing this! We had a Game of Thrones couple come in flying on inflatable dragons as John Snow and Daenerys! I wish I had more video and pictures from last night but honestly, I’ve learned that the best times are proven by the lack of pictures since you were too busy having a great time. Lol. And yes, we did go to our annual trip up to Live Oak Canyon 🎃 HOWEVER, we have to do something about this global warming! I refuse to be at a pumpkin patch in 80 degree weather! And no, my aim has not gotten any better with this pumpkin canyon. 😂 His has though, he was hitting the targets the entire time. 🫠🙃 🧟‍♂️🧟‍♀️🧟 That is an actor btw, not a statue. I didn’t know and he scared the mess outta me at first when I walked up and he moved. Lmao. ☺️🖤 Shoutout to this guy for making my spooky season magical as always My bestie’s birthday!!! This tiramisu was delicious HOWEVER what’s not shown here is the amazing granita that they gifted us since we closed them out. If you’re in LA, go to De La Nonna’s and order it. You’re welcome. 🖤 Going back to that point I made earlier about having no pictures because you were too busy having a great time? Yeah, well this night was one of them. Getting lit at arcade bars, making lit decisions at 2am to finally get those spoon tattoos we’ve been wanting since college, a pledge class getting hello kitty tattoos preventing us from getting said tattoos, said pledges thinking we were 23 and thinking we’re lying when we said we were 31, bestie pictured getting her ears pierced instead (what a rebel.) lmao. No matter how old you get, sometimes just do it for the plot y’all. The stories by @kelssweetie

Trick r Sweet drawing challenge with prompt TWENTY being Ten of Pentacles 🪙 with the film, “You’re Next”! upright: legacy, family, inheritance, privilege/ reversed: debt, financial conflict, instability, family disputes #tarot Drawing the full family at the table took WAY longer than I anticipated 😭 We’re SO CLOSE! Thank you so much to everyone with how supportive you’ve been seeing these all month!! by @kelssweetie
Trick r Sweet drawing challenge with prompt NINETEEN! I’ve been WAITING for this card! Ten of Cups 🏆 using “Hereditary”! upright: inner happiness, fulfillment / reversed: broken family, domestic disharmony #hereditary #tarot Yall don’t understand how much I have been looking forward to drawing this freaky family all season! No second card today, but I’m determined to finish on time! Wish me luck! by @kelssweetie
THE SELF-ACTUALIZING PROPHECIES OF THE CRAFT 🔮 A fabulous and thought provoking essay by @damiendysania for our most recent issue of Night Terror Magazine! Check it out 🦇 by @kelssweetie
Trick r Sweet drawing challenge with prompt SEVENTEEN! The first card is Nine of Swords ⚔️ with “Skinamarink”! (And yes, I could’ve used a more Halloween focused song but somehow the one I chose is far creepier considering 😭) upright: anxiety, hopelessness, trauma, nightmares, isolation / reversed: learning to cope, facing life, recovery #skinamarink #tarot I know there’s A LOT of mixed feeling and opinions regarding this film and when I first finished I thought “eh, that was interesting. I get it.” Then nighttime hit, and I remembered I was afraid of the dark and the unknown within it and overthought my way into a sleepless night. The fact that this entity literally tortures this kid for no reason for who knows how long is the equivalent of the fear you get when the strangers are asked why they’re doing what they do and they flatly answer “because you were home.” Some things are just scary because they can be and having no reason almost seems worse than having one at all for me. 😭 Trick r Sweet drawing challenge with prompt EIGHTEEN! The second card is Nine of Wands 🪄 with a horror film on the completely different side of the spectrum with “Ready or Not”! upright: rapid action, movement, quick decisions / reversed: panic, waiting, slowing down #readyornot #tarot I thought of having her hold one of the wands but her pose with the shotgun is just too iconic. Lol. I can’t believe we’re TWO days away from the end! Yall I’ve been working on this deck for over three years!!! I’m so excited to see them all together! 💚 by @kelssweetie
Trick r Sweet drawing challenge with prompt FIFTEEN! Today’s first card is Nine of Pentacles 🪙 featuring Monstro Elisasue from “The Substance”! upright: fruits of labor, rewards, luxury / reversed: reckless spending, living beyond means, false success #thesubstance #tarot A last minute decision to make the pentacles look like Hollywood stars and I’m SO happy I did this! Trick r Sweet drawing challenge card prompt SIXTEEN! The second card we’re tackling today is Nine of Cups 🏆 with “The Menu”! upright: satisfaction, emotional stability, luxury / reversed: lack of inner joy, smugness, dissatisfaction #themenu #tarot I personally really enjoyed this movie! And it definitely came to mind when thinking of the meaning! We’re nearly to the end! I’m so excited to get this deck done! And thank you so much to everyone who has been so supportive! by @kelssweetie
Trick r Sweet drawing challenge card FOURTEEN! Yes, I plan on posting twice a day to finish the deck on time because I’m determined to finish this project on time! Eight of Wands 🪄 with Red from “Us”! upright: victory, success, public reward / reversed: excess pride, lack of recognition, punishment #us #tarot The original art for this card is just the wands which is interesting since it’s one of the few suit cards that doesn’t have a character so I took some artistic liberty adding Red along with the other tethered in mountains. Honestly, if I didn’t have some really great films planned for the upcoming cards, I probably wouldn’t try for twice a day but I obviously love pushing myself. 😅😝 by @kelssweetie
