BEER BAR / BAR X

A few weeks back I braved the heat and painted this from the sidewalk of 200 S. I finished it up in the studio and was pleased to see it hanging in one of my long time very favorite bars today. SLC No. 5: The Eagles Building

The Eagles Building was constructed in 1915-16. Designed by Swedish immigrant Nils Edward Liljenberg, it features a Neo-Renaissance style.

The building originally housed the Fraternal Order of Eagles—a social club whose membership sponsored social and cultural activities. It now houses classic Italian restaurant @caffemolise and Wine Bar @btgwinebar. taken in Salt Lake City, Utah by @kendylschofield

SLC No. 3: Built in 1824 the Beehive House sits on the South East corner of Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. The name originates from the beehive sculpture atop the house, as early Mormons used honeybees to symbolize industry and cooperation.

Located at 15 S. State Street, this historic building was originally the city’s first public library (1905) and then the Hansen Planetarium, now housing the flagship O.C. Tanner Jewelers.

Three college self portraits that John O’Connell made me do over time. You can see that he literally took my titanium white away and said “stop being so ghostly and do better”.
I am honored and lucky to have gotten to spend time painting and discussing art with such a legend.
RIP O’Connell, I hope you get to yell at people about Diebenkorn and Catholicism all day.
