Last Monday, I had the privilege of moderating the celebration in honour of Steve Emelieze, SAN, former Chairman of NBA Abuja, on his elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria. Listening to the tributes, one theme stood out: no one spoke only about his wins in court. They spoke about the young lawyers he guided, the colleagues he supported, and the Bar he served. The rank recognises advocacy, but the legacy is built through people. Congratulations once again, Learned Silk, and to all colleagues elevated to the Inner Bar alongside him. To my colleagues: who was the senior lawyer that shaped your early years in practice? How are you also shaping the early years of the younger ones? #SeniorAdvocateOfNigeria #NBAAbuja #Mentorship #LegalProfession by @kene_agwu
𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐘𝐨𝐮 🙏🏾 Yesterday, my phone did not rest, and neither did my heart! 😄 To everyone who called, sent messages, posted, prayed, celebrated with us, or sent a gift for my birthday and our wedding anniversary: thank you. Every message, every prayer and every kind word was received with deep gratitude, and I am truly overwhelmed by your love. Many of you also reached out after reading about the events of 2 September. Your concern, prayers and words of thanksgiving reminded me once again that the greatest blessings in life are the people God places around us. Obim and I are so grateful for the love you showed us on our special day. If I have not yet responded to your message personally, please know that I saw it, I appreciated it, and I am working my way through each one with a grateful heart. May God bless you abundantly, and may He celebrate you in your own seasons as you have celebrated us. With love and gratitude, Dr. Kene #Gratitude #ReflectionsAt33 #SixYearsOfGrace #ThankYou by @kene_agwu
𝐒𝐢𝐱 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 💍 Six years ago today, on my birthday, I married the love of my life. Some people receive gifts on their birthday; I received a wife! And I have been unwrapping blessings ever since. 😄 Obim, you have been the absolute best. You have been my partner, my friend, my prayer warrior and my safe place. In every season, the joyful ones and the difficult ones, you have stood by me with love, patience and strength. I do not take it lightly. Being married to you is not just a joy; it is a privilege. Together, God has blessed us with our beautiful daughter, who fills our home with laughter and reminds us every day of His faithfulness. Six years in, I can say with all my heart that God gave me more than I asked for. Thank you for choosing me, for loving me, and for building this life with me. Here’s to many more years of love, laughter and grace together. I love you, Obim. ❤️ #SixYearsOfGrace #HappyAnniversary #ObimForever #GodsFaithfulness #MarriedOnMyBirthday by @kene_agwu
𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝟑𝟑 🎂 Anyone who knows me will tell you that if there is one thing I cannot hide, it is the fact that God has been good to me! If God did not hide His blessings from me, why should I be ashamed to speak of His faithfulness? Today, this boy whom God has blessed turns 33, in the land of the living. 🙏🏾 For weeks, I have been sharing #LessonsFrom2September. Today, I can tell you where they came from. On 2 September 2026, I was involved in a car accident. It could have been far worse, but God came through. Nothing missing. Nothing broken. At 33, I am not just counting years. I am counting mercies. Here is what this year has taught me: 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬. 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬. 𝐒𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐰. 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐲. 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠. Every step has been grace upon grace. To my family, friends, colleagues, students and everyone who called, prayed and stood by me: thank you. Your love is one of God’s greatest gifts to me. At 33, where do I even start? 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧: 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭! #ReflectionsAt33 #Gratitude #GodsFaithfulness by @kene_agwu
Before I got married, one of my biggest fears about marriage was ending up with someone who would limit me. 🥹 Those who know me well, especially from my university days, know that I’ve never liked having to depend solely on anyone or anything to get things done. The traditional concept of marriage, as many people see it, often seems to favour men more. As a woman, you have dreams, aspirations, and plans for your life. Then you get married, and all of a sudden, you need approval to achieve most of these things, or you risk being labelled proud, unsubmissive, or even rude. 😂 But God saw my fears and blessed me with a man who not only understands who I am but also gives me the freedom to spread my wings and fly. ❤️ I’m sure I’ve publicly thanked you for allowing me to fly in almost every anniversary post we’ve had. But this time, I’m putting things into context so that others can truly understand what I mean. Six years of doing life with you, and all I can say is: Thank you for loving me the way you do, as Christ loves the Church. ❤️ Thank you for prioritising our family’s affairs and well-being so much that sometimes, I have to beg you to slow down and calm down small. 😂🥹 Thank you for being an absolutely good man. A man who loves me without making me feel like I have to shrink myself to fit into his life. 🥰❤️ Happy birthday, Nkem, and happy anniversary to us! 🥂❤️ Here’s to many more years of love, growth, partnership, and flying together. 🥹❤️ To the best daddy and husband in the whole world 🥰🥰 We love and appreciate you ❤️🎉🎉🎉 You will continue to excel in all you do🙏❤️ I love you so much ❤️🥰 by @kene_agwu
Two weeks ago, I spent a day in the wild at Akagera National Park, Rwanda. Coming just weeks after a day that changed how I see many things, it turned out to be more than a sightseeing trip. It became a quiet classroom. In the wild, nobody is in a hurry. The giraffes don't rush, the buffalo take their time, and not a single animal is checking its emails or answering "urgent" calls. 😄 Yet everything gets done. They eat, they rest, they move, and they live fully in the present. Meanwhile, we humans run from one deadline to the next as if life will wait for us to finish. I also noticed how closely our guide watched the little things: a movement in the grass, tracks in the dust, a change in the wind. In the wild, ignoring the small details can be costly. Recent weeks have taught me that the same is true of life. The little things we overlook today can become the big things we regret tomorrow. And the herds stayed together. No one wandered off alone. There is safety in community and strength in staying close to the people God has placed in our lives. Standing in the middle of all that beauty, I couldn't help but whisper thank you. Thank you for breath. Thank you for another day. Thank you for the chance to see God's creation with fresh eyes. So slow down. Rest without guilt. Pay attention to the details. Stay close to your people. We are not machines. We are blessed to be alive. 🙏🏾 #Lessons From 2 September 2026 #kenechukwu #wildlife by @kene_agwu
Happy New Year! Warm congratulations to all my kith and kin of Okposi Ezi n’Asato as we mark the first day of our new traditional year. God has been truly kind to us, and we pray that this new year will be even more fruitful and prosperous for every son and daughter of our land. May the souls of our heroes and departed brothers and sisters continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord. Anyi Agbaa Ava! 🎉 Happy New Year! by @kene_agwu
In our culture, we don't like to talk about wills. Mention one at the dinner table and someone will quickly say, "God forbid! Is it well?" 😄 We treat planning for the unexpected as though it invites the unexpected. But as a lawyer, I have seen what happens when there is no plan: families who once ate from the same pot dragging each other to court, widows and children struggling to access what was rightfully theirs, and loved ones searching for documents no one knew existed. Very often, the pain of loss is made worse by the confusion that follows. Putting your house in order is not a sign of fear or a lack of faith. It is an act of love and responsibility. A few simple steps can make a world of difference: • Write a will, and review it as your life changes. • Update your next of kin and beneficiaries with your bank, employer and pension fund. • Keep important documents together, and make sure someone you trust knows where they are. • Have honest conversations with your spouse and family about your affairs. None of this takes away a single day from your life. It simply ensures that the people you love are protected, whatever tomorrow brings. Don't leave your loved ones with questions you could have answered today. #Lessons From 2 September 2026 by @kene_agwu
Nobody throws a party when you service your car. No one claps when you check your tyres, top up your brake fluid, or replace worn brake pads. And certainly no one has ever been congratulated for fastening a seat belt on a short trip to the market. 😄 Yet it is this quiet, unglamorous work that keeps us safe. Maintenance is done not because anything is wrong, but so that nothing goes wrong. And the seat belt is valuable precisely because we fasten it without thinking. The best habits protect us when we are not paying attention, because when the moment comes, there is no time to decide. Life works the same way. Our health, our relationships, our work and our faith all need regular, quiet maintenance: the check-up we keep postponing, the call we keep meaning to make, the prayer we rush through, the rest we keep promising ourselves. None of it feels urgent today. But what we neglect quietly today may fail loudly tomorrow. So build the habits that protect you. Tend to the little things while they are still little. One day, you may find that the ordinary routine you never thought twice about is the very thing that carried you through. What small habit has served you well over the years? #Lessons from 2 September 2026 by @kene_agwu
