I've been sat with a lot of heartbreak for a long while now but I'm snapping out of it and embracing the lessons. And I'll finally start posting my India pics. But here's a poem I wrote after coming back:

3. Wrath
I saw your truth in knucklebones and tea leaves,
ground it down, drunk the poison.
I heard my truth in the howling of the pregnant moon—
paid her no mind. Closed my palms into fists: let the holly grow her spikes.

I carried my pain beneath my skirts,
heavy breasts prepared to nurse,
my girdle tight,
while peacocks and cerasee blossomed in the night.
But you—
you melted yours down, sharpened and tempered it,
outmatched the demagogue and Pharisee,
falling
upon your sword, forgotten.

When the hour of my return came
I veiled myself. Hands blackened,
I appealed to lesser gods for mercy,
cried out to the rocks for wisdom,
and was granted none.
To the East I was exiled,
to stand in the company of fools
and sing songs of Raurava.
I was brought low—
crawled on my belly and tasted ash.

There are seasons for vengeance,
times to pour out acid upon the crops
and watch the earth spew bile.
You
Sowed seeds of discord,
And I,
will gladly make bitter loaves.

The OFFSHORE tour I’m embarking on in October is as much about music as it is about linking with and getting to know artists making work about what it means to be Black in Britian today, from Liverpool to London to Glasgow!

I’m so happy to have these four incredibly talented Liverpool based artists as part of the show on the 19th October 2026, taking place at @thebakeryvenue

@amberakaunu will be bringing a visual element to the night, screening short films and exhibiting prints!

@andre.jahnoi will be performing a live decolonial hip-hop set!

@blvk.velvet will be spinning a eclectic dj set!

@keyoshiwarrior will be performing poems and weaving words

Tickets in the usual place, come along and be a part of a one night only affair!

Amber Akaunu is a Liverpool born Nigerian-German filmmaker working in cinema and art to document and imagine Black regional stories. Her work has previously exhibited at Liverpool Biennial (BEDROCK, 2025) and screened at London Short Film Festival (Bonded 3.0, 2024). Her creative practice extends to her role as co-founder of ROOT-ed Zine (2017-2024) where she worked to support Black, Asian and Global Majority artists in the North West of England through publishing, workshops, guest lectures, curating and producing. Amber holds a BA in Fine Art and an MA in Film and was awarded the BAFTA Kirsh scholarship for her postgraduate studies at Goldsmiths, UoL.

André Jahnoi is a Liverpool-born hip-hop artiste and organiser whose insurrectionary sound and philosophy are heavily influenced by his Afro-Jamaican heritage. He describes his music as decolonial, using lyricism as a means of challenging the babylon systems that bound the ways we imagine the world and our place in it.
Channelling inspirations ranging from Damian Marley to Lil Wayne to Walter Rodney, André’s music combines Caribbean rhythm, wheel-and-come wordplay and radical Rastafari thought to provide the crucial soundtrack to the revolution, with love and liberation the key themes of his work.
His live sets integrate call-and-response battle cries borrowed from freedom movements across the globe to create a momentary oasis of connection and hope for crowds from Liverpool to New Y taken in Liverpool, United Kingdom by @keyoshiwarrior

Nadeem’s music tackles themes of belonging, estrangement and identity with ‘potent streams of consciousness’. Nadeem’s live shows at Supernormal Festival, Sinsal Festival and Great Escape have showcased his 'big choruses and big energy which elevate themes of Black identity, cultural displacement, and spiritual resilience with a refined sense of composition and arrangement', expect to go on an adventure of loops, costumes, audience participation and the unexpected!

Slavery Remembrance Day 2026
SRD is always an emotional time but this year in the wake of personal grief and collective grief with the loss of Professor Jason Arday and the global rise of fascism, this year hit me in ways I wasn't expecting. First in my hips where I hold the sorrow of my foremothers. Next in my lower back where I hold all the repressed emotions my ancestors weren't safe enough to release. The anger, the fear, the silences. Then in my shoulders where I carry the weight of unwritten tomorrows. The responsibility of change and the promise of better days ahead. Lastly I felt it burning in my chest. Anger. A rage that pushes me, grounds me even. Reminding me why I'm here. Reminding me of how honoured I am to hold my ancestors pain. To be a living testimony to hundreds of years of strength and survival and rage. I am because they were.

I've been outside taking up space... and other notes on mental health 🧜🏾‍♀️
Living with C-Ptsd—heck even coming to terms with the diagnosis has not been easy. Over the past several years I've lost the ability to leave my house on a day-to-day basis, I've lost friends who I love dearly, and had to abandon so many parts and pieces of myself. I'd even forgotten what love tasted like. What love meant. How it manifests outside of my walls here on County Road.

But recently I have started to recognise myself again. Started to feel the edges of love and belonging and watched those lines blur. With all its shapes and patterns, hard edges and smooth; love and joy manifests everywhere I look. Maybe I wasn't folding in on myself all these years, maybe I was preparing the canvas. Anointing the thread for the tapestry and donning the loom.

Maybe I'm just starting to get ready and maybe you should watch out: I might be outside this summer 🌞

And to all my weird black girls who get told your too much... you are. Oh well.
