POSTS STORIES REELS

🙏 One year ago today, I created my first ever Khanh Preapproved post. I didn’t have any plan or expectations, just wanted to share my love for food and support small businesses in our community. Some 67 posts, 1,098 friends, and around 500K views later… I’m still just going around eating and calling it “content.” 😬

I’ve had the chance to try a lot of incredible food, but more importantly, I’ve met some genuinely good people behind it. If this page has helped even one person show them some love, then it was all worth it 🙇

If you’ve tried a spot because of this page, or got somewhere I need to check check out for you, drop it below… I need to know!!

October hits different when the food’s this good.

Ate a bunch of food this last month, but here are some places that stood out. Last bowl at Mi La Cay. Pete’s ribs that wrecked a stack of napkins. Mì gia with the family. A plant-based spread at Chay that even the meat-eaters went back for. Noodle nights, soft serve and coffee, Tho Tuong down in Tacoma, dim sum, tendon, shaved ice on a warm afternoon, a few swings at Topgolf, and Yezi to close it out.

Huge thanks to all these amazing kitchens holding it down!! Swipe through and tell me which one you’re trying first 👇

❤️‍🩹 Some goodbyes you feel in your chest. This is one of them.

My parents first brought me to Mi La Cay when I was a 9 year old kid, back when it was on the corner of Dearborn and Jackson.

More than thirty years of coming back. Different address now, same love in the food. Every bowl is a little thank-you to them for bringing me here, and to the family who kept showing up for this neighborhood.

Their last day of service is October 29 so if Mi La Cay ever meant something to you or even if you just want to experience a huge part of Seattle history, go sit down and say thank you while you still can.

From my family’s table to yours: thank you, Mi La Cay. Forever PreApproved.

KinD ASIAN NOODLE HOUSE, WEST SEATTLE 🍜

I’ll be honest, I didn’t walk in expecting much. But I came ready to be surprised, and KinD delivered from start to finish.

The new name on California Ave might fool you, but this team is anything but new. They’ve been part of the Seattle food scene for decades, and the recipes behind these dishes have been passed down and perfected over generations. You can feel that history in every plate.

The hospitality was damn near Ritz-Carlton level and our host walked us through each dish as it came out, with where it came from, how it’s made, and what makes it special. It turned a great meal into a real experience.

The standout for me was the Wagyu Beef Noodle Soup. The noodles are boiled with a touch of vinegar, so every bite has a subtle kick that cuts right through the richness of the broth, which they pour hot at your table. Across the whole spread, the flavors were layered and well balanced, and the portions were just right.

Those noodles are handmade in-house, too. They have a whole noodle lab in the back dedicated to experimenting, and we got to see it in action. Decades of experience, and they’re still pushing the craft forward 🙏

What we had:
🥟 Homemade Spicy Wonton
🥒 Spicy Cucumber Salad
🍜 Wagyu Beef Noodle Soup: wagyu eye round over rice noodles, with hot broth poured at your table
🌶️ Mala Beef Shank: braised and sliced thin, tossed in mala sauce with cilantro, Thai chili, and toasted sesame
🔥 Ma Po Tofu Noodles: tofu and minced pork in a rich, fiery sauce over their handmade noodles
🐷 Pork Katsu: panko-crisp pork loin, fried golden and sliced for sharing

This is a true West Seattle sleeper, and it won’t stay a secret for long. Grab your people and go show them some love ❤️

I’m a basic b*tch when it comes to Thai food. Pad kee mao beef, tom yum seafood, spice level mild, oh and a side of white rice please. Like almost every time 🫥. Then I came to Pestle Rock and not a single one of those dishes was allowed to touch our table!!

Pestle Rock (like mortar and pestle because all ingredients are created in-house) specialize in Isan cuisine from northeastern Thailand, and there’s this whole other world of Thai food I never knew existed. We had sai ua, muu sa waan, muu yaang, tom zap, som tum, salmon yaang samun phrai, khao kra prau gai khai dao, ba mee hang muu toon, khao soi and kao pad na rok. I can’t pronounce half of what we ate, but every dish brought something completely different.

Food is incredible, vibes be vibin’ and I hope to come back one day to meet Chef Grandma!!

📍 S.A.M.E Vietnamese Eatery
976 Denman St, Vancouver, BC

We normally come to Vancouver for some of the best Hong Kong food outside of Hong Kong, but after several Cantonese meals back to back, the Vietnamese in me finally started acting up 😂

Ended up at S.A.M.E and learned the name is actually an acronym for the daughters, who were all there helping out and showed us some of the best hospitality.

The menu had dishes outside the usual Vietnamese rotation, which I always appreciate. We tried the bún mọc chua and a rice dish dressed in all the familiar Vietnamese garnishes…then topped with American ribs. Sounds like two completely different restaurants accidentally shared a plate, but somehow it worked 😂

Started with the pillows and cánh gà nước mắm. I just killed the rest of the wings in my hotel room right before writing this, so consider this review fully fact-checked. by @khanh_preapproved

Boss lady wanted thịt kho today, so family style it was. And if you’re gonna have thịt kho, you gotta have canh chua cá. I don’t make the rules. Honestly, those two would’ve been enough already because who the hell gives you FIVE whole eggs in one serving of thịt kho?! I don’t even get this treatment at home :(

Mom used to always say “no bụng, đói con mắt” which basically means hungry eyes, full tummy… or something like that 😂 And apparently I learned nothing because we ordered the bò lúc lắc too :( On top of all that, we got treated to a couple different styles of snails, one sa tế and one phô mai. Both were bomb.

But what made me happiest was finding out that all the chefs from the Rainier of yesteryears are back in the kitchen. I could immediately taste the difference. The flavors I remembered were there again.

It’s been a long time coming, but safe to say:
Rainier Restaurant is back and better than ever. ❤️

This past week I got to go support my unbelievably talented friend Angela at her soft opening for @rolledflour. She started baking in college as just a hobby. Being one of Seattle’s biggest popup brands, she has now fully jumped into full time entrepreneurship post college graduation.

There’s one thing about this younger generation, well the ones I’m around anyways, and that’s, that they are absolutely driven, and wholeheartedly so bold in taking a leap in what they believe in.

Order or pick-up your box of @rolledflour’s freshly handmade cinnamon buns every weekend, inside @miero.coffeebar 💛 by @khanh_preapproved

🥩 TANHUO YANJI BBQ
📍 524 6th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98104
(former Shanghai Garden)

Originally wanted Tendon Kohaku for our Friday Family Night, but the line said hell nah so we pivoted while staying in the CID.

Tanhuo Yanji is basically Yanji-style Chinese charcoal BBQ. You order a bunch of different skewers and they come out over tabletop warmers so everything stays hot while you eat. Each order comes with three skewers, which was perfect for the three of us.

Started with the shrimp fried rice that randomly comes shaped like a heart and the oysters baked in garlic butter. Then came the skewers. Didn’t care too much for the bacon enoki, but everything else was solid.

The clear winner was the pineapple Wagyu. Sweet pineapple, fatty beef, fresh off the grill. That combo WORKS.

@khanhventures x @howdyyallcoffee ☕️

I’m so excited to be partnering up with @howdyyallcoffee to find them their next home. Owners @natashawalrus and @omarwalrus have built an active, growing community within less than two years, after moving their home from LA to Seattle.

Their team has built such an amazing home within the neighborhoods of Seattle. It genuinely brings me so much joy to not only be a part of finding a brick and mortar for Howdy Y’all, but to bring such an awesome and loving community to a lucky neighborhood here in Seattle.

Stay tuned!

Follow @howdyyallcoffee for updates on their upcoming popups. And if you’re in the area, stop by the Seattle Public Library Downtown on the third floor and give them a Howdy! 🤠 by @khanh_preapproved

Huế Vietnamese Cuisine
📍6538 4th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98108

If you know me, you know I’m checking out every bún bò Huế spot the moment I hear about it.

The broth here was flavorful and well layered, with subtle hints of pineapple and lemongrass that complemented everything without overpowering it. The rib rack was fall off the bone tender, and the house made pork paste absolutely stole the show. I’d fr buy a whole container of it if they’d let me 🤤

Bún bò Huế is officially Khanh PreApproved. ✅

Alex, being the creature of habit that he is, ordered his usual phở tái. We also tried the fish sauce wings, which tasted way better than they looked.

The family running the restaurant couldn’t have been friendlier. Super chill atmosphere, France vs. Morocco was on the TV while we ate, and we ended up chatting with the owner, who’s honestly one of the sweetest people you’ll meet.

Definitely worth adding to your bún bò Huế rotation. by @khanh_preapproved
