POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Podcasting has always been a dream, a dream that felt unachievable at times but a dream come true for sure. Running was never my dream but was something that I learned to enjoy and reaped the benefits of it. To be able to combine the two has been beyond my wildest dreams.

I can’t wait to share my running journey with you and I truly hope it encourages you all.

A huge thank you to @soundspeed.co.za for allowing me to use their facilities and helping me materialize this dream.

I had the best time today🤞🏾🥳 Less than 24hrs at home, ran a race I’ve always wanted to run, marveled at my favourite city views, saw my favs on route, hugged my people, got humbled by koesister hill but demolished a couple of koesisters as a reward and finished the race with a full heart❤️

Thank you @nelsonmandelamarathon for having me for the inaugural race. What an honour💋✨ taken in Cape Town, Western Cape by @khanyacona

I love running but… at what cost?! 💔

This sport has changed my life in some many incredible ways and afforded me so many insane opportunities. Running gave me purpose and it was my “safe” space.

But more often running has also come with a fear that I wish I didn’t have to carry.

As a woman who runs, I can’t just read the stories of what’s currently happening and move on. Behind every headline is a woman who had a life, people who love her and a reason she stepped outside that day.

I often have to think about the route I choose, the time I go, who I share my location with, my music being to loud, and which friend can I call to run with me.

I shouldn’t have to think about this. Women shouldn’t have to think about this.

I should be able to lace up my shoes, step outside and experience the freedom that running has given me without wondering if I’ll make it home.

I don’t want to stop running. I don’t want women to stop running. I just want us to be able to run without being afraid. Is that too much to ask for?

Gents, if you see your females friends running alone or falling behind in group runs please stop and wait for them and finish the run together.

We deserve to feel safe doing something we love✨ taken in Johannesburg, South Africa by @khanyacona
