Waiting around for the phone to ring after a hurricane? That’s not how we do business.

Care like Kin means we reach out to our policyholders before and after the storm.

By sending proactive prep tips before landfall and direct check-in texts right after the storm passed, we got their recovery moving instantly.

Then, as soon as Florida opened its storm assistance hubs after Hurricane Isaias, our claims team was there and ready to serve.

The twist: hardly anyone needed to visit us. Because we had already met our customers right where they were, and right when they needed us.

Seeing all the thankful messages from our customers has meant everything to our team.

Swipe through to see the real data behind our response and read some of the feedback from our Kin customers. ➡️ by @kin

Kin customers affected by Hurricane Isaias: you’ve likely already heard from us.

On Thursday, we messaged 17,200 customers to help them prepare. At 9 a.m. ET Saturday, once the storm had passed, we started wellness checks with more than 11,600 customers. When the storm shifted, we expanded the area, and by the end of the day we’d conducted wellness checks with more than 27,000 Kin customers. If you’re a Kin customer, you can file your claim simply by responding to our wellness check text message (or online or by phone).

We proactively reach out to all of our customers in the impacted areas because we care about their safety, we’re here to provide support, and by starting claims sooner, we can expedite the assistance of local service providers for things like tree removal and home repairs. Most Kin customers who have filed an Isaias claim have already heard from our adjusters.

But we don’t stop there. We’re showing up in person, too. Our claims team is at the Destin and Pensacola insurance assistance hubs hosted by Florida CFO Blaise Ingoglia and the Florida Department of Financial Services, so Kin is there wherever you need us.

While other insurers have pulled back from Florida in the past, Kin has always stuck around. And we’re doubling down.

We’re the preferred insurance partner of Florida State University Athletics, just one more way we’re investing in the state.

For generations, FSU has moved this state forward. Now Kin joins that fabric, helping homeowners access protection built to last.

Being here for Florida isn’t just about staying on the roster when things get tough. It’s wind mitigation discounts for storm-ready homes. It’s an agent who picks up when you need them. It’s helping customers save an average of $1,058/year* on home insurance.

Kin’s here for Florida, and we’re here to stay. Same team. Every season. 🏈 @seminoles

Hurricane Isaias is heading toward Alabama, the Florida Panhandle, Mississippi and Louisiana. Here's how to prepare before it makes landfall.🌀👇

1️⃣ Prep your go-bag.
Plan for at least 1 gallon of water per person per day for several days (per Ready.gov), plus non-perishable food, flashlights, extra batteries, backup phone chargers, a first-aid kit, and all necessary medications. Don't forget food and water for your pets too.

2️⃣ Take your "before" pictures.
Before the storm hits, walk through your home and take clear photos and videos of every room. These should capture your electronics, appliances, furniture, and other important belongings. Then, take photos and videos of the outside, roof and yard included. If you need to file a claim, your camera roll may be your best friend.

Tip: Upload your photos and videos to the cloud or email them to yourself to ensure future access. Add receipts and serial numbers for big-ticket items too.

3️⃣ Know your coverage.
Take a minute to review your insurance policy and what it covers, so there are no surprises later. Remember: standard home insurance typically covers wind damage, but it does not cover rising storm surge or flood waters. These require a flood endorsement or a separate flood insurance policy. A hurricane deductible is often a percentage of your dwelling coverage (the limit for rebuilding the house itself), not a flat dollar amount.

Tip: Take a picture of your policy number and save your claims phone number, so you could still file a claim if you lose power.

4️⃣ Lean on us
At Kin, you get a team that follows through before, during, and after the storm. Leading up to major weather events, we monitor the storm's path in real-time and check in with you before it hits. Then we reach out to help you file a claim after.

If you're a Kin customer, our team has already reached out with checklists and guidance on reviewing your policy. If Isaias leaves damage behind, we're here to help you navigate the claims process.
Forecasters expect Isaias to strengthen into a Category 2 storm before hitting the coast. Take a few minutes to prep and ensure your safety.
