Thank you so much to @artsmemphis for the Art Assist Art Grant! 🙏

I went back to Malaysia to reclaim Malaysian batik. I took a few days of classes with batik masters and I learned so much for my next future art.

Here is a short documentary of my batik art journey, from Malaysia to Memphis.

This grant meant the world to me. It gave me the chance to go home, study my heritage, and bring it all back to my community here in
Memphis.

Finally getting a chance to share the piece I installed at The Link, a new commercial space in the heart of downtown Denver. This mural piece is called "Glow Channel" and it consists of over 25k sequins!✨

I want to sincerely thank @ninedotarts and @notyetcurated for the commission and @crumjay + @jimmytheewrench for helping with the installation.😊❤️✨

Memphis Artist Spotlight: @kongweepang

Kong Wee Pang @kongweepang is a creative force who has called Memphis home since 2001. “I’m a little bit of everything,” she says with a laugh, and that’s exactly what makes her work stand out. Kong Wee moved to the U.S. from Malaysia in 2001 after graduating from the Singapore Nanyang Academy of Fine Art. Since then, she’s earned a degree in Fine Art and Design and an MFA from the Memphis College of Art, co-founded the design powerhouse Taropop Studio and left her mark on projects from New York to Spain and her beloved Memphis, a city she calls “great for designers and artists.”
