I am part of the world’s best road crew and this is my emotional end-of-tour post.

This gig seemed too good to be true. If you work long enough in this town, you know a lot of gigs are like that.

This gig wasn’t that gig. This gig was really really good.

This was, in no small part, due to the humans who made it all happen. The ones on stage and behind the scenes. The ones tuning guitars under the stage and rigging lights up in the rafters. The ones who fed us meals and snacks and took care of us when we weren’t feeling our best. The ones who drove around the country us and made sure we got where we needed to go safely. The ones who chose to spend their money and time to go out and see live music performed by real people.

I never once let myself take this job for granted. We all could feel this tour was special. I am so proud to have been a part of the Free the Machine tour - an absolute masterclass in what is possible when an artist isn’t afraid to take risks and honor their creative vision (the rest of Nashville should take note!).

Thank you Eric, Katherine, and management for the commitment to that vision. Thank you @eleonoredenig for trusting me with the seat. And thank you to everyone involved for making us feel like family and giving us the experience of a lifetime.

Nashville, I’m home. Let’s make something beautiful.

In these hellish times, I’ve been digging down deeper into the things that remind me there is some good in this world, Mr. Frodo — music and people — and it’s worth fighting for.

I’ve spent many unpaid hours (and a fair amount of my own money) building @classical.615 into something I’m incredibly proud of. When I get a text that says “hey I’m going to this concert because you posted about it,” that fills my tank and keeps this train running.

Classical 615 is growing. I built a website (like with code y’all) and everyday I’m building it out more and more to better help y’all find concerts and learn what’s happening in Nashville. I get asked all the time to do interviews but that’s not really my cuppa so we are launching a Substack powered by community members. Do you want free tix in exchange for writing about music? Get in touch.

If you like what we are doing: Follow us. Share our posts. Subscribe to the mailing list. Donate via the link on our website, if you are able (it helps pay for the mailing list, the website, etc). Come to the next Classical 615 Jam on September 28. If you want to offer up a skill to help us out, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Anyway, we’ve got lots more up our sleeves this season. Stay tuned ✌️ taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @kraitz

Today marks 10 years in this 10 year town.

I’m immeasurably grateful for the life we’ve built here, it’s hard to sum it up in 20 photos.

Thanks to the people, animals, places, and music who took part in that ❤️
