I’m in my “doing things that used to terrify me” era. Taking the stage has always been top of that list - until I did it, and I realized it’s actually amazing!

I hope this video also reminds you that you can do hard things. What you may not know, unless you look very closely, is I was presenting with a broken foot. We can all do hard things, and that glimpse of boot continues to be a reminder. taken in Lake Oswego, Oregon by @krisricewellness

245 miles.

That’s how far I’ve run over the last 14 weeks training for my first half marathon.

And honestly, seeing that number is kind of blowing my mind.

I’m not always great at giving myself credit. I tend to accomplish something and immediately move on to the next thing.

But this took devotion.

14 weeks.
245 miles.
44 hours of running.
Long runs that grew to 11 miles.
And now, 5 days until I run 13.1 miles to the finish line. 🎉

And I did almost all of it over summer.

With my girls home. In several different states. Around constantly changing schedules. While running a company. And while doing all the normal life stuff that doesn’t conveniently stop because you decided to train for a half marathon. 😂

There were plenty of days when finding the time to put in the miles wasn’t easy.

But I kept showing up.

And before I immediately move on to whatever is next, I’m going to do something I’m not always great at: Give myself credit.

Because damn gurl, you did that! 🏃🏻‍♀️ by @krisricewellness

A little BTS from a very cool night ✨

A few weeks ago I found out Emma Grede was coming to Portland and immediately thought — I HAVE to be in that room.

Manifestation complete. 🔥

I’ve admired what Emma has built for years, but what I loved most about hearing her speak was how real she was about what it actually takes to build something big.

I left inspired, challenged, and definitely thinking bigger.

And because apparently I wasn’t done soaking it all in, I reread Start With Yourself over the weekend. Highly recommend. It hits differently when you’re in the thick of building your own thing.

Thank you Emma Grede for being so generous with your story, and Natalie Lane, Everybody EATS + Lori Spencer for bringing such an incredible group of women together in Portland. ✨

We thought we’d find one universal “cold plunge brain.”

But we found the opposite.

Some of the brains shifted toward slower activity - calm, inward, downregulated.

The others shifted toward faster activity - alert, focused, task-ready.

And across the cohort, those shifts resulted in greater hemispheric symmetry - a more balanced distribution of activity between the two sides of the brain.

Humans have been using nature-based regulation for thousands of years.

A 3-minute plunge is a controlled stressor, challenging the nervous system to adapt in the direction it needs.

What’s fascinating is that reorganization seems entirely dependent on the individual’s starting state.

Perhaps part of the reason why research has produced such variable results is because relatively little work has looked at the brain’s immediate response.

If you’re an avid plunger - or thinking about starting - consider: When are you plunging, what state are you starting in, and what do you want from it: activation and focus, or calm and recovery?

Maybe the “best” way to plunge depends less on a universal protocol and more on where your system is - and where you want it to go.

Thank you to @thechillpod.co & @krisricewellness for partnering with us to push the science forward 🧊 🧠

A few weeks ago, something really special happened in my own backyard.

We brought together an incredible group of people for our very first Stress Adaptation Lab.

With our partners Santaia each participant completed brain mapping before and after experiencing ChillPod.

Seeing everyone’s excitement (and curiosity!) throughout the day was something I’ll never forget.
This wasn’t about proving anything.

It was about asking better questions.

How does cold immersion impact the brain?

What can we learn?

And where might this research lead?

The first round of results has already sparked conversations I never expected... and we’re just getting started.
I’m so grateful to everyone who trusted us enough to be part of this first study.

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at a day I’ll never forget. 🤍 by @krisricewellness

For the first time, you can officially experience ChillPod in person.

This weekend, I had the chance to watch people discover ChillPod for the first time. Seeing their reactions, hearing their questions, and simply listening was one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.

After spending the last two years building this, it’s easy to forget what it’s like to see it through fresh eyes.
If you’ve been following along and waiting to experience ChillPod for yourself, this is your chance.

You’ll find us inside the ICON home at Street of Dreams, beautifully designed by Carissa Roth, through August 23.

If you stop by, I’d genuinely love to hear what you think. taken in Oregon City, Oregon by @krisricewellness

This one felt special. 🤍
Street of Dreams has been one of my favorite summer traditions for years.
This weekend, I got to share it with my daughter while putting the finishing touches on ChillPod’s public debut.
There have been plenty of late nights, pivots, and moments where this dream felt far away. Seeing ChillPod sitting inside the ICON home reminded me why you keep going.
I’ll be there this Saturday and Sunday. If you’re local, I’d love to see you there. by @krisricewellness

POV: The product you started building at home just got installed in a Street of Dreams home.

She’s officially in.

There is something surreal about seeing ChillPod in the kind of space I always imagined her.

Public debut: July 30.

You’ve watched me build it. Now you can finally see it.

For almost two years, I’ve shared the behind-the-scenes of building ChillPod.

The renderings. The prototypes. The wins. The setbacks. All of it.

But unless you’ve been to my house, almost no one has actually seen a ChillPod IRL.

That’s officially changing.

ChillPod is making its public debut at the 50th Anniversary Street of Dreams as one of the featured products inside the @iconconstructiondevelopment home, beautifully designed by Carissa of @aphomedesignnw

For the first time, you can see ChillPod up close, experience the design and explore all the details I’ve been obsessing over for the last two years.

@streetofdreamspdx opens July 30.

For almost two years, you’ve watched me build ChillPod through a screen.

You’ve seen the renderings. The prototypes. The wins. The setbacks. All of it.

But here’s the crazy part...

Almost no one has actually seen a ChillPod in person.

Unless you’ve been to my house, chances are you’ve never seen the details up close, sat inside or experienced what we’ve spent the last two years building.

That’s about to change.

Any guesses where we’re headed? taken in Lake Oswego, Oregon by @krisricewellness

What actually happens in your brain during a cold plunge?

It’s a question I’ve wondered for years.

People often describe feeling calmer, clearer, more focused, or more energized after cold immersion. But until recently, we’ve mostly relied on personal experience to explain why.

This summer, we’re beginning to explore that question through brain mapping.

If you’re unfamiliar with it, brain mapping measures patterns of brain activity. It helps us better understand how different areas of the brain communicate and respond under different conditions.

We’ve already completed our first two brain maps and the results were fascinating.

This is just the beginning.

Over the coming months, we’ll share what we’re learning, why it matters, and how this research is helping shape the future of @thechillpod.co

Because we believe the future of wellness isn’t choosing between lived experience and science.

It’s making room for both. taken in Portland, Oregon by @krisricewellness
